Mom has been worrying a lot lately because of all the dog treat and food recalls. So she is trying to make more homemade treats for us, or give us the human kinds of treats that’s are safe. Some of us are picky (not Kobi, so far the only thing he won’t eat is celery and fresh broccoli), and we won’t always eat what Mommy tries for us – we don’ts like much veggies or fruit….Kobi likes carrots and blueberries, and especially bananas, but the rests of us don’t so much.

When she buys us the store treats, she will only buy ones made in the USA and with all natural ingredients. But then she’s still nervous about giving them to us! She lets them sit in the cabinet for a couple weeks to make sure she doesn’t hear of any recall or anything bad like that first. Then Dad finally saids don’t be scared and just give them so she did, and they were fine. But she still worries so she has been collectins lots of recipes for us. Then she says she doesn’t have time to bake, plus she’s been looking for oat flour and cannot find it yet! But the Moms spends lots of time on Facebook, and one of our heroes on there, Sigmund (The Adventures of Sigmund the Beagle) – who is a cool beagle, who does lotz of fun stuff AND supports one of our favorite charities The Beagle Freedom Project; shared a recipe called “Pumpkin Fro Yo”. Moms decided to try this for us.

All she hads to do was mix up a can of pumpkin and some nonfat (or lowfat) vanilla yogurt (just be sure you don’t use yogurt with any artificial sweeteners or anything bad like that). She used equal parts of each, but the amounts don’t have to be exact. She just stirred it up and put some on a spoon and let us lick it off to see if we liked it. OH BOY!! WE LOVES IT!! It might be the best treat ever!! So thens she bought some ice cube trays and put a little bit in each and made frozen yogurt nuggets!! We LOVES those too!! She even said you could just put spoonfuls on a cookie sheet and put it in the freezer. They comes right off the cookie sheet, ands they pops right out of the ice cube trays. Now we have a whole bag of them in the freezer so we cans have a little bit every day!!
Moms is the best.
- We loves you, Mom!!

We can’t wait until she tackles the whole food issue….but she says one thing at a time and so’s far we been fine with the food we eat now. Ands soon as she finds that oat flour, there is going to be more new treats to try!! Yippee!

have you seen the bake a bone? very similar to the sandwich maker but it comes with a recipe book for dog treats and is in the shape of bones? i’m thinking of getting one as I think rusty will find that fun to bake for the dogs
Oohh, that sounds very interesting! Like it would perhaps be easier than rolling out dough, etc?
Great ideas! It is certainly far more nerve wracking than it should be to feed everyone healthfully!
Agreed. We should be able to trust the things we buy!
I will give these a try when it gets above freezing in my area of the world! Glad to see that you have a Beagle on floor duty, should never need to vacuum!
Let me know how you like them, Emma, whenever it warms up there….hope that is soon! Yes, the dogs actually do have some jobs in our household. 🙂
Those treats sound great! Think I’ll try them when I have my Benji back. 🙂
I can always give you a few for him to try also. I’m betting he will love them too.
