February is the month for love – between Valentine’s Day on the 14th and Love Your Pet Day on the 20th, love is everywhere. Around here though, we believe you should #LoveYourPetEveryDay. If you have pets, we hope that is already a given for you as well.
We like to be sure to show that love in appropriate ways. For us that means keeping our crew healthy; and if they are healthy that is one of the first steps towards happiness. One of the ways we like to show our love is through food and treats, but we also have to remember that feeding them the appropriate amounts of that food and treats is important, as well as the quality of that pet food.

Keeping your pets at a healthy weight is the best way to show them love. Just as with humans, they feel better, and it keeps their joints and hearts healthier. Providing them with daily exercise helps to keep their weight down as well, and the more they move and stay active, the more food and treats they can have!
Our friends at Chicken Soup for the Soul Pet Food believe in the same things we do. They believe we should love our pets every day, and that we can do that by providing them with comfort, love and appreciation along with natural, premium pet food to keep them healthy. That goes not just for pets in homes, but for pets in shelters looking for homes.
They donate a portion of all of their proceeds from the sale of pet food to the Humpty Dumpty Institute which supports organizations that feed and care for animals in shelters. A portion of the royalties from their new books – Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Very Good, Very Bad Dog, and Chicken Soup for the Soul: My Very Good, Very Bad Cat – will go to the American Humane Association.
Along with that, their new packaging, seen in our photos in this post, features pets from local shelters, as well as pets that have already found their forever homes. The stories are on the back of the packages. Chicken Soup for The Soul Pet Food is also the official dog food sponsor for the AHA’s Hero Dog Awards, and sponsor for the Therapy Dog category!

Our cat Samantha is proud that she has already been eating this premium pet food that gives back for some time now, and we are excited about the new grain free formula which she will be trying. Our pets know they are loved because we only feed natural, high quality pet food. Sam can be a fussy one, and it’s not always easy to get her to eat what is good for her!
Another way we show our love for our dogs is by training them. Training is fun and keeps them mentally stimulated. Whether it’s the trick training that Luke excels at, or the older girls just learning to walk better on leashes, we mix in Chicken Soup for The Soul Pet Food’s grain free kibble with other treats to keep them interested in learning.

By providing our pets with a healthy diet, lots of fresh air, exercise and training, as well as warm, cozy places to sleep, we think they know exactly how much they are loved. How do you show your pet(s) love?

You still have time to enter your pet in the Show Us Your Hero contest! You can read our post about it here, or go directly to the website to find out more. #MyPetIsMyHero

I love to love my pets! Every day!
Love those books! Harley and Jaxson seem to be maintaining their weight #thankthedoodle well. I work extremely hard alternating treats with fresh fruits and veggies. Now if I could only be this dedicated with my own weight LOL
I definitely hear you on that one! I am far more diligent about getting the dogs their exercise than getting my own!
I loved all the chicken soup books. You guys all look comfy.
Sounds like a good food, although I have to be honest, it kind of bugs me that they are pushing shelter pets to the exclusion of purposefully bred dogs. Sometimes I wonder what marketing people are thinking.
We feed raw, but it’s always good to know of a good quality kibble. One never knows when one might need some.
Love the picture of all your sweeties on the bed!!
We love that Chicken Soup gives back to the animals.
We no longer feed kibble, but I love that shelter pets are featured on the packaging!!
What a beautiful picture of Luke! Love all the pups sleeping on the bed too. 🙂 We show Daisy love all day every day with cuddles, kisses, and lots of mushies all around. 😀
I love the entire gang crashed out together. A good meal will do that to the best of us! BOL!
We know we have lots of love here

Luke you have become a real ham! We celebrate Love You Pet Day everyday around here too! Love Dolly
It was totally his idea to lie down and cross his paws like that, and I can’t believe how long he posed after I put the heart toy there!
We’ve heard a lot about this. Your crew is lucky to have such a wonderful home with you!
pawsome that you joined the model-club now too Luke… this is the best way to get 87 treets within 5 minutes… :o) It’s a great way to help our furfriends in shelters with such tasty food… 4 paws up for this company with the wonderful name!
You know MY girls are loved every day. And that includes the two who are with me in spirit only. I try to find better-quality food and treats that won’t aggravate their sensitive tummies and Shadow’s reflux. And an occasional treat of human cheddar cheese is extra special.
I know it’s tough when they have those tummy and other issues that complicate things. The fact that you work so hard to give them healthy food and treats that keep them feeling good definitely shows how much you love them!
The same! Plus Mr. N likes going to new places with me and being glued by my side.
That is one of the joys of having a single dog that I miss…being able to take them everywhere with you easily.
Sam has the right idea! I love that all the pups are piled on the bed and he has the dog bed all to himself.
Smart cat, huh? 🙂
Wow! That’s so awesome that Chicken Soup donates money to help shelter animals! I didn’t know that! I really love their books!
