We were on the road for two days and I have to tell you that once we left the mountains of Vermont and got on the highway in New York, it was not the scenic drive I was hoping for. It was long and boring, and FLAT. So flat….until we got into Kentucky and there was finally some hills again. We drove along Lake Erie for hundreds of miles, and never got a glimpse of the lake. We stopped in New York to drop off my friend’s elderly mother at her sister’s on the first day, and then drove for a couple more hours and stopped in Erie, Pennsylvania and spent the night at a very nice Comfort Inn. From the time I left my house in NH until the time we crashed in that room was about 12 hours.

The next day we were on the road for about 10 hours, Ohio was long and boring, with just the excitement of three cities in there (the cities were the only thing to see, everything else was just green trees or fields), and let me just say thank goodness my friend was willing to do the driving (and is a great driver) because I am not a city person, not one bit. We arrived in Nashville around 6pm our time, which turned out to be 5pm here (we didn’t realize there was a time change until we found out on the way down). I had intended to share more photos from the road, but there just wasn’t a lot of interesting things to share!

We were tired but had a light supper in the lounge here at the Sheraton Music City Hotel, walked around a bit, and called it a night. Tuesday morning we went to see downtown Nashville and the Country Music Hall of Fame, which was fun, other than getting caught in a thunderstorm and downpours and having to duck inside stores to wait out the rain!

We had an early supper, and after that, we met our first fellow BlogPawsers, Nitro and his Mom from Deaf Dogs Rock. What a sweetie he is! Today we have a little more sightseeing planned and I’m sure we’re going to see a lot more bloggers and their pets arriving here at the hotel….can’t wait!

Thank you to BlogPaws for hosting the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop!
By now you’ve probably met a whole bunch of our fellow pet bloggers. Say hello to them for me. I know you’ll have a blast.
I just hate driving in general these days — around town, on the interstates — and there’s no way I would drive through big cities any more! (I lived on Long Island for the first 40 years of my life and probably drove in Manhattan all of ten times.)
I don’t mind driving quiet country roads, but I avoid the interstates whenever possible. If my friend hadn’t been with me and willing to drive, I’m pretty sure I would have turned around and gone back home!
How exciting Jan..apart from the boring scenery..funny what you get used to 😉 Nitro is gorgeous! and i am sure you are going to have a ball..how i wish i could be there..what fun! huge hugs Bev xx
I guess if you are used to mountains, the mid-west is kind of flat and boring….lol. I love road trips and finding silly little places to visit along the way. Have a great time at Blog Paws.
It looks like you’re already having a wonderful time. Hope to join everyone next year when my puppy is more trustworthy to either leave or take with me.
Oh, that’s some LONG stretches in the car. Ugh. Hope you have a lovely time there! (Who’s “we”? Did you bring one/some of the dogs, or did the hubs come along?) Have fun and have a safe drive back!
I have a friend that came with me, Jackie, the hubby is home with the pets! 🙂
Oh, thats nice to have a friend to come along!
I dislike flat scenery too. Give me hills! Have fun in Nashville!
Ooohhh, thanks so much for sharing, I will be trying to catch as much of the excitement as I can from my computer #sosad Have fun, learn lots, share all.
Glad you made it! I fly out tomorrow morning.
We’ll have to find each other!
Glad you made it there safely and I hope you have a fantastic time! I wish we could join everyone this year.
Glad you arrived safely and enjoyed your journey. Have fun, can’t wait to hear all about it! 🙂
Have a swell time! Wish we were there too!!

Glad to hear you made it there safely! That drive through Ohio is totally boring–but I promise that the parts away from the interstate are much nicer (and the bridge you take from Cinci to into KY gives me the heebie-jeebies every time I have to go over it–does your friend want to come drive for me next week, too?!). Can’t wait to hear all about the rest of your trip!
Beth, my friend and I just loved your comment, because I completely freaked out over that bridge!! I’m glad it’s not just me! She was dealing with crazy traffic and still saying to me “oh, take a photo of that cool building over there!”. Um, no, looking over there will cause me to have an anxiety attack! I hate bridges anyway, and then take a bridge like that…..!
Luckily it wasn’t quite as bad going the other direction.
We talked about going back there one day to visit your area. I would love to see the lake and visit the wineries and parks. It bummed us out that it was such a long drive we just couldn’t stop and try to find something scenic!
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh I SO wish I was there with you!!!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
The mom will be there later today and she looks forward to meeting you.
Tell your Mom if we don’t meet up right off, to shoot me an email so we can be sure to connect! I don’t want to miss her and I don’t think I know what she looks like! I’ll be wearing my Wag n’ Woof Pets t-shirt at the social tonite though if she goes to that.
Ohhh you think it is quiet now? WAIT…………………All hell is going to break loose in a few hours………you have 500 EXCITED people coming………GET THE EAR PLUGS!! lol Seriously, my heart is broken…you will have a blast!!
Oh gosh, Caren, you were so right! It was crazy! But completely fun. I just wish you had been there too.
That was a cool pitstop in NY. Glad you got there safety and enjoy your time there.
We’ll see you this afternoon. We only went to St. Louis yesterday since we made a stop to visit Bailie’s breeder. Now a short visit this am with a friend and then Nashville bound!
