Having fresh picked apples in the house finally motivated me to bake some treats for the dogs! I looked through all my recipes for one with apple, and found this one that I had made before. To give credit where it is due, I had found this recipe on All-natural-dog-treat.com, though I did modify it just a bit.
I prefer to use the chopped apple, and I have a food processor that makes that easy. You can see here how there are some nice chunks of apple in there, and you can see the parsley and cinnamon as well.
Parsley and cinnamon both have benefits for dogs:
- Parsley helps freshen breath, and is anti-inflammatory and can help soothe arthritis symptoms. It can help cleanse organs and possibly prevent diseases. *However, do not give to dogs who are pregnant or have severe kidney problems.*
- Cinnamon is also anti-inflammatory and can help relieve painful joints from arthritis. It can help regulate blood sugar for dogs with diabetes, and can improve circulation and benefit the heart. It also helps with digestion/upset tummies and is a natural food preservative.

I found some fun cookie cutters I had forgotten I had, but no matter what the shape the dogs loved them!

I plan to use some of the small bones as part of a birthday treat I’ll be baking this weekend. We’ll be baking with pumpkin and sharing that recipe as well. These are two things we especially love about fall….apples and pumpkins!
We are joining the Tasty Tuesday blog hop hosted by Sugar the Golden Retriever and Kol’s Notes. Please visit our hosts along with the other blogs through the links below for more tasty treats.
ohhh I love the duck cut out! Great job making these tasty treats
Thank you!!
I love making homemade treats. These sound good enough for me to eat!
I wish I had the ambition (or time) to do it more often. I was tempted to try one of these myself, but haven’t yet!
I’m too lazy to bake for the dogs. My daughter did give us a dehydrator though so I might try some apple rings this weekend.
Those look pretty good!
I have a dehydrator too, which I haven’t even used yet! I have big intentions, but I end up being lazy too. Though I do like to do more of that kind of thing in the winter. Apple rings sound good!
SQUIRREL!
GOT IT!!!! 🙂
That recipe looks yummy. I think Sheba would really like to retrieve more of those ducks!
Goldens are bird dogs, right? She did seem to prefer the ducks over the squirrels! 🙂
Well, if you finally baked for the dogs that might mean I could too… Even though I have only ever once baked for humans! But this looks yummy and I happen to have some parsley around… I’ll let you know whether or not I burn the house down.
Good luck….can’t wait to hear how it goes!
YUMMY!! Those sound good enough for me to eat, let alone my dogs!!
And, of course, we will be here for the birthdays!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
They’re definitely edible for us, but we might find them a bit bland (I need sugar!).
So glad you’ll be joining us for the birthday bash! Plus I’m planning on joining your Flashback Friday hop too!
Those look good! Like Cricket, my dog Nelly always prefers to eat a big treat in a special spot, unlike the other 2 who wolf it down wherever they are.
Some dogs do like to savor their treats, but I imagine more of them are wolfers! It’s just so cute when Cricket has to carry it off to the couch (or sometimes her bed).
Those look super yummy!
The dogs sure thought so!
Those sound delicious and to be in the shape of squirrels…WINNER!!
Sometimes the Momz is really thinking!! BOL!
Look at those apple chunks! Thats how you know its so good! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome! Hope you get a chance to try them sometime!
They sound good, apples and pumpkin are the foods of the fall season around here! Can’t believe the little guy will be a year old! How exciting…I smell a party coming on!
Big party coming….and fall is the perfect time of year to be having some yummy treats for it! We can’t believe Luke is going to be a year either!
Those look yummy mom wants to know if she can eat them too! Love Dolly
They are all human ingredients, but I think we humans might want them to be a bit sweeter…maybe I should have sprinkled some sugar on top of some of them for the humans….next time!
Woof! Those sound good!
They’ve definitely been a hit, and I’m glad to finally be giving them some homemade treats!
I can see it in your eyes, that are the bestest cookies. I specially like the squirrels, what a good idea, so you can have a tasty duck&squirrel hunt . Happy hunting and a happy tasty tuesday!
Squirrels and ducks were such a great idea, right? How could we go wrong? They are the awesomest, and we’ve been having lots of fun hunting. Thanks, Easy!
Love, Sheba, Cricket & Luke
