I’ve written before that our beagle Cricket doesn’t get as excited about stuffed toys as her retriever siblings Luke and Sheba do. Therefore, it was funny to see her lying in the middle of all these toys (which I had thrown on that bed when cleaning up) on a recent Sunday morning.

Lately though, on weekend mornings she’s been playing with toys a lot more. I don’t know if it’s the cooler mornings making her more energetic but quite often she’ll bring a toy up to bed in the morning to play with, or she’ll be heard in the dining room snarling (all in fun) at Luke because he’s trying to steal a toy she has. Because, of course, toys are far more fun if you can get the other dogs to want the one you have!

Happy Black & White Sunday! Thank you to our blog hop hosts Sugar the Golden Retriever and Dachshund Nola. Please visit other blogs through the links below.
LOL glad she is having some fun!
Awe, sweet girl. I love hearing the play growls as they tussle for toys.
what a cutie that Cricket is!!
My huskies are obsessed with their toys!
hahahahaha!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
So cute! Rita is also more interested in her toys now that Reg is here stealing them! But I had to hide a bunch of them cuz he was destoying them! Rita makes her toys last!
There is no respect for toys around this place, so Reg would fit right in here! LOL Luke knows where I hide the new ones and goes in that closet and whines. So he ends up getting them all, and then destroying them. I’ve run out of toys now, so need to re-stock again. It’s only money, right? 🙂
When we had Abby she LOVED to destroy toys. Rather than spend a small fortune on a toy that would only last 5 minutes, I used to look for used toys at yard sales – they were almost always on sale for 25c. She could have a thrill tearing it apart, and then I could pick up the pieces and throw it all away without feeling annoyed about it. 🙂
(By ‘used toys’ I mean kids’ stuffed animals.)
Thanks for the tip! Our town has a townwide yard sale this weekend. I don’t always go, but if I do, I usually avoid the houses that have only baby stuff. Now I’ll have to go looking for them! 🙂
Isn’t that funny how some dogs do that? I have a few that aren’t really into toys but on the odd occasion I see them playing with them. 🙂 So cute. Love the b/w with pops of color here.
So sweet. Love the pops of color!
I like PicMonkey. Great photos!
For sure its the cooler weather Cricket! And yes you better watch those toys because I would destroy them! Love Dolly
They’re mostly already destroyed, Dolly, those are mostly just carcasses! BOL!
Love, Cricket
You sure look cute with your toys and I’m glad to hear you’re a little more active Cricket!
Mom put a bunch of toys on my bed today while she was vacuuming. I went and got her because I wanted to go in my bed, but didn’t want the toys there. It’s nice to have a good servant around.
It sure is, isn’t it? LOL I was surprised Cricket actually was willing to lie down with all the toys, and didn’t do the same thing as you, Emma!
Cricket sure has a nice choice of toys to play with. It may be hard to choose just one!
Pierre always has a toy with him, but all of our stuffies are kept up until playtime or he kills them. Bentley loves his stuffies but is obsessed with his new laser light. LOL!
I got our laser light out for Luke but he didn’t seem as interested this time. I’m going to try it again though, because he did chase it a little bit. He maybe just wasn’t in the mood…LOL.
LOL! Daisy does the same thing!! 😀
Callie is the only one of my four dogs who has ever really like stuffed toys. She was always very gentle with them, almost as if they were her babies. Kissy and Shadow never bothered with them, even as puppies; and Ducky’s only interest in them was to rip the stuffing out of them. I gave Shadow one of Callie’s stuffed toys the other night and all she did was sniff at it and sigh. And then she ignored it and went to sleep.
I don’t think I’ve ever had a dog who just enjoyed playing with toys normally. They either ignore them completely, or rip them apart!
I bet it gave Shadow some comfort to have Callie’s toy next to her. Has Shadow been doing any better lately?
Oh, my sweet Shadow! She was beginning to get used to not having Callie here in her earthly form. Then she tore her toenail on Tuesday afternoon while we were playing – just the 2 of us and Callie’s Spirit – and she’s been a little mopey ever since. It hurts and she wants her big sister to love on her and make it feel better. I try, but I’m not Callie. 🙁
I absolutely love these photos! The B&W and tinges of color, these are just gorgeous!
I love the photos, too! I have to put PicMonkey on my laptop!
Thank you, Sue and Caren! I think the color splashes are really fun to play around with.
Sweet girl, the pictures are great. What editing program do you use for your color splashes. did you do the toys all at once or individual? The program coral that I use I can only do one color splash or at least I don’t know how to do more.
Thanks! I use PicMonkey for that. You can color anything you want in the photo, all at the same time. You use a paintbrush to color it in wherever you want.
