My cats are demanding equal time. They say I write about the dogs too much. They don’t think taking turns having their photo as the profile picture on my Facebook page is good enough. They also seem to be aware that other pets even have their own Facebook pages, and there are some rumblings about that. I could use a little break from the serious stories (and I need more research time)….plus I need a BIG break from the technological computer stuff like inserting HTML code to my website (I barely have a clue what that is, never mind how to get it on my website). Samantha would like to tell her own story:
Hi, my name is Samantha and I am a black cat (no Halloween jokes please). I was born in June of 2002 to a home filled will all men, one dog, and a cat (my mom). I had two siblings, a brother and a sister. We could not live with the men forever, so one day a nice couple showed up to look at us (we had seen them before, as the woman was one of the men’s sister). One of the men’s girlfriends kept telling them to take my brother (he was very pretty). But they could not decide on just one of us, so instead of that, they took both me and my sister! They named me Samantha and my sister Katie.

The new couple, who I now call Mom and Dad, took us to their home where there were two other cats and two dogs! Katie and I spent the first week or so in our own room so we could get used to being in the new place. Eventually we got to come out and we settled into our whole new household just fine, dogs and all! Over my time in this home one of those dogs and two of the cats, including my sister, have gone away. Katie and our other brother Don Juan had a bad thing called cancer and they were very sick. Our other dog got hit by a car, so sad (and that’s why Mommy says we need to stay in the house…it’s dangerous out there), but since then THREE more dogs came along. I do not know what that is all about!

I miss my sister Katie very much, she just died last year, but I have my feline brother Conrad to keep me company. I have always been kind of a loner anyway….I like to find places to hide and fool Mom and Dad…..it is funny when I hear them calling and opening every door in the house trying to find me! Sometimes I get shut in rooms because I am black and if it is dark they cannot see me!! I am not supposed to go outside, as I said, but I just forget sometimes. I like to sit close to the door, but very quietly so they don’t notice me; and when they open the door to let one of those silly dogs out, I make a run for it!! Then Mom and Dad come outside and try to catch me, but I am fast! I let them get real close and then I run! It is fun, but eventually they just ignore me and everyone has gone in the house and I get lonely, so I go to the door. They always feed me when I come in too (and also hug me for some reason)!

Last Fall I started limping and losing weight and Mommy and Daddy were very worried about me. They took me to the vet and they ran all kinds of tests on me but couldn’t find anything wrong. So they started giving me pills called supplements for my joints and now I am much better. At first I got pills every day….me and Conrad get to split a can of food, but he doesn’t get a pill. Now that I am better it is just every other day. I still cannot jump up on the kitchen counter or anything, but Mom and Dad seem to think that is OK. I am even getting a little fat, since now that I feel better, I eat very well!
OH! Mom and Dad built a very nice screened in porch last Fall too…..and now I get to sleep out there in the Spring and Summer! I love it because it’s like being outside, but they say I am safer. ‘Cept sometimes those silly beagles walk right through those screen doors and leave them open a little, so out I go again (I can’t seem to help myself)!! That’s why I love my canine siblings. Two of them are big and a little scary sometimes, but I still like to rub up against them. They just don’t seem to know what to do when I do that!
I love it when Mom and Dad pat me, and scratch my chin. I like to give them a little bath on their hands and arms when they do that. Then just to be funny, I give them a little nip every so often! They say I shouldn’t do that, but it is fun to throw them off like that! They are not expecting it! Hee hee. And I don’t bite very hard!
By the way, CATS RULE and DOGS DROOL (they really do….they get my head wet sometimes). But I still love my dogs! Here is a picture of me and Katie on the bed with some of them.
Purrs and kisses, Saman-ee

I wonder what would happen if I let my cat Taki write a post. Would she reveal things that are better left private? She doesn’t really like the dogs much and I’m not sure how she feels about me in spite of her seeming to be affectionate. Is it just that I’m a food source and mice are scarce?
Oh boy, ha ha, I’d better not let Samantha have another crack at it then….she may have ulterior motives for being so nice this first time! 🙂
So cute! I think you’ve done a great job of reading her mind, Jan! 😉
Thanks, Sheryl!
Samantha thanks you, ladies! 🙂
