We seem to be stuck in an endless cloudy/rainy cycle here in New England lately, and I’m not sure what that’s going to do for our changing foliage and fall colors. So far we are not seeing a lot, though we are starting to finally get some changing leaves in our yard and around. However, the weather is not conducive to taking photos of it. We’d like to share some of those colors when we can, but in the meantime, we still have some fall-themed colors around the yard in the flowers. Autumn is my favorite season, I got married in late September for just that reason. The reds, yellows, oranges, and purples are my favorite colors, and at my wedding, my wedding party wore colors in that theme (maybe I’ll dig a photo out and share it at some point). Anyway…while we wait for the foliage to change, here is some of the other color around the farm:
Wild Asters

Purple Asters in the Barn Garden

Orange Lizards in the Woods

Marigolds – In the Vegetable Garden!

Zinnias

The Hydrangea Bush Keeps Outdoing Itself

You may remember our hydrangeas were a pale pink in our last Flower Friday post! It’s amazing how they keep changing.
What is autumn like in your neck of the woods? Do you have beautiful foliage or flowers still hanging on, or is fall even there yet?
Thank you to our friends at Living Laughing Barking in Our Backyard for hosting the Flower Friday blog hop! Please visit other blogs through the links below.
Such beautiful flowers and OMD I don’t fink I has efur seen a orange lizard befur… We nefur get changing of da leaves til the end of November down here and wif did hurricane coming in on the west coast of FL we will probably loose all our leaves with the wind.
xoxo,
Matt & Matilda
We hope the hurricane didn’t bother you too much there!! xxoo
I agree, we seem to be stuck in a gloomy type of weather pattern.
You do have some gorgeous colors around you. My favorite flower color in the fall is the burgundy color. I picked up (what I believe are) some mums to hang out on the front step. Fall is also my favorite season for beauty of the colors, but I have to tell you though, I’ve never seen an orange lizard. 🙂
I guess that lizard is actually a “newt”! We have some gorgeous burgundy mums at our farmstand, but I opted for some different colors in the one I bought (seen in my more recent Friday post).
We saw sun today! But it will be raining again by tomorrow morning. They are promising a sunny day on Sunday though – we’ll see!
Your gardens are beautiful with all the fall colors. I’ve never seen an orange lizard before. We don’t have fall colors yet, and even then it’s just a few trees. California is not known for it’s fall foliage!
That must be why we get so many tourists here in NH. 🙂
Your flowers look beautiful. I have our kid’s old Radio Flyer wagon and was planning on using it for a planter. I love yours.
Thank you! I love it too. The wagon was left here at the house when we bought it. I did have hubby drill some holes in the bottom for drainage though, since it’s so shallow.
Beautiful autumn garden. The color of the hydrangeas is so pretty!
Thank you!!
Those asters are nice. Is that orange lizard a salamander? That is the only one I know of in New England. Have a great weekend!
Now you got me wondering about that, so I had to look it up! It turns out that little guy is actually a young Eastern Newt. There are red salamanders, but they are a lot longer than these I think.
I remember when we moved into our “new” house as a kid … that first time our hydrangea bush flowered … WOW. It went from 0 to 120 overnight! And we never managed to control it either. Some things are just better left to Mother Earth to decide 🙂
You are so right about that! Sometimes when we just leave things alone, they do much better!
Those fall flowers are so pretty! Our colors are barely changing….though we expect more in the next week or so.
We are getting a bit more color now, but more yellows than anything else. If we can just keep the wind and rain from knocking all the leaves off before we get to enjoy them….
We have tons of Asters along the trails here in Northy North Cali too…Such a beautiful collection of fall color!
It’s so nice when Mother Nature provides without any work on our part! 🙂
Your asters are just gorgeous and that hydrangea…oh my gosh! Talk about spectacular. Happy weekend-hopefully you’ll get some sunshine and can enjoy some autumn splendor.
We’ve still had very little sunshine this week, but we’re hoping for more before this weekend is over.
Our leaves are starting to change here in Seattle.
We haven’t had much rain as usual but it will return soon enough.

Our late spring/early summer was oddly dry, but this fall has more than made up for that (it would have been more useful for the gardens back then though!).
Our leaves aren’t changing much out here in IL either. We have had lots of rain, too. I love the Zinnias planted in the red wagon. The Hydrangea are beautiful, too! Hope we both have some October colors soon!
One thing is for sure, every autumn is different, and we never know what we’re going to get for color!
Beautiful flowers. I love hydrangeas, but never get to see them.
I was never a fan before now, but I’ve been converted. I know someone who makes wreaths with the flowers, and I want to try that next year!
Everything still looks pretty and colorful. We haven’t had many leaves changing here either.
I imagine you are well behind us on that. Hope you haven’t been too washed out there either though.
We are having tons of wet and dreary weather. It’s hard for any of us to even get motivated to get out of bed in the morning. With rain and clouds, it stays dark so long in the morning too. Hopefully some sunshine will come soon. We love the hydrangeas and how they change color.
Between the days getting shorter, and all the wet and dreary, it’s all we can do to drag ourselves out of bed in the mornings lately!
