This week’s theme of “Animal” for the #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge almost seemed too easy, with a house full of dogs and a cat. I thought I would try to take a little bit different approach to it. I thought of “wild animal” and had a couple different ideas for that. This is the type of wild animal that makes the most frequent appearances in our yard:
She looks pretty mild mannered, doesn’t she? On the other hand, these two wanted to show you how they can look like wild animals as well, and far more fierce than that deer!
What kind of wild animals do you have around – real wildlife, or just silly animals that like to pretend they are? 🙂

that deer’s coat looks really nice. Great capture and challenge picture.
Wow that deer is quite majestic looking! Love the funny faces from the dogs!
LOL that is funny.
OMC! They are ferocious! *shudder* TW saw a “wild” deer for the first time 2 years ago at her Aunt’s house.
I was hoping to get a deer photo, but it didn’t work out. Gorgeous creatures!
I laughed out loud at the picture of the dogs playing and trying to look animalistic LOL!
The dogs were barking at a Mama deer and her baby this morning. I don’t know how they do it, but they can be dead asleep and a deer walks past and both of them jump up and want to give chase.
I like the way you framed the picture, it looks cool.
Thank you!
We have found that if the windows are open, the dogs can smell the deer out there…they don’t have to see them!
Fab photos!
hehehe. Cute. We pretty much just have the silly kind here. And the hubs of course. 🙂
We get vishus deers in our yard all the time…and they eat the mom’s flowers and plants, much to her dismay.
I think I yelled at that deer after I took the photos, that she better stay out of my garden (and she didn’t listen, as my hosta lilies and green bean plants could attest to)!
We have mice, rabbits, skunks, groundhogs, raccoons, squirrels, wild turkeys, deer and coyotes around. I think the wildest are the two who live inside!
Portland composts so we usually have some coyotes and raccoons and rats lurking around.
Those don’t sound like very fun animals, though raccoons can be cute!
I think I spot one of those elusive kittysheep animals hanging out with the doe, haha!
There is a pretty good variety of animals right there in my garden, so the deer must have felt at home there! LOL
How lucky you are to have a deer right outside your window. I loved the picture of your two other “wild” animals too. We’re in the desert so there is always a coyote somewhere close by. Cody and Bailey like to think they are wild, but they’re afraid of the dark.
That deer is so gorgeous. Our humans see them lots when riding their tandem on our greenway. We have squirrels, groundhogs and skunks (we don’t like these) that visit us regularly! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
I don’t believe for one minute our friend Luke is a wile animal LOL Great way to capture a word.
LOL! Our original idea was Bailie and I being wild animals, but then Bert came on the scene and we got the new idea. Love the deer, that is a true animal.
We live in the country and see deer and cows and bunnies and horses along with all the cats dogs and squirrels. Every day on our run is an adventure 🙂
We have never seen a deer that close to our house although they do live in the woods beside our neighborhood. Our wild animals consist of squirrels and birds. We have a boring yard. LOL!
Pierre thinks those squirrels are pretty exciting though, doesn’t he? 🙂
We’ve got wild birds, squirrels, and chipmunks. Every now and then, I see a possum or raccoon in the road, or on the side of the road. Oh! And mice, too.
Mice are cute, as long as they stay outside! 🙂
Chippies and squirrels are cute, too, as long as they stay outside. Being a child of the 50s and 60s, I think of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore when I think of chipmunks so they’re my favorite of the rodents.
Chippies are my favorite too!! I remember when I was a child too and we visited a certain lake all the time. We used to leave cherry pits out for the chippies at the picnic area, so we could see them with their cheeks all filled up with them!
We enjoy seeing both kinds of wildlife, though bared teeth are a bit scary! Daisy likes to do her occasional “big dog growl”, then when we play-growl back, she spins around in circles and runs off to get a toy. 🙂
That sounds so cute! When we first got Luke and he and Sheba started going at it, I was pretty freaked out with all that teeth baring! But we’ve learned now when they’re just playing. If they start to get too carried away though, we step in and put a stop to it, just to be on the safe side!
Good idea! Better safe than sorry, right? Yeah once you get to understand the dynamics of play between dogs, you realize a lot of the scary-looking stuff is just bluff. 🙂
Katy scared off what we think was a woodchuck the other morning. The thing hit the back fence in a scene like something out of a Bugs Bunny cartoon just after hearing Katy bark at a bunny. I’d never seen one in our yard before.
If you have gardens like I do, you definitely don’t want to see those woodchucks! We have seen them occasionally though, but I think the barking dogs keep them mostly away.
Aw, deer are so beautiful aren’t they?
We have tons of wildlife around here, and not just my huskies either! LOL! Deer, coyotes, wolves, beavers, raccoon, skunks etc etc etc…
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Wow! I hope most of those (skunks, wolves, coyotes) keep their distance! 🙂
I like both 🙂 It is nice to see deer and I love to be with my cats. Great photos!
The best of both worlds….I agree!
away from a gazillion of rabbits we have a lot of pheasants this year…. they are super smart… instead to run over the empty fields where the hunters lure, they occupied back yards now… we were speechless as we saw them in our neighbors garden :o) well… the staff was speechless, me not :o)
We used to see a lot of pheasants at our bird feeders years ago, but that was when the state stocked them for hunting on the land below us (which now has housess). We were always glad to see that a few escaped the hunters and survived the winter!
We only have the silly dog kind here! Love Dolly
That’s the best kind anyway. 🙂
