While I’m sure we still have some more hot weather ahead of us, with the days getting shorter, and cooler days here and there, we can feel summer winding down. That means we need to get out and enjoy the warmth and sunshine as much as we can. While “the boys” enjoy lounging in the sun, I enjoy the sunny faces of my sunflowers.

One fun thing about these sunflowers? I didn’t plant any of them! I had sunflowers in my herb garden last summer, and they decided to replant themselves. I even had to pull some up because they were crowding out my herbs! Other than that, I just kind of let them go, and they’ve gotten a little bit out of control!

Does summer feel like it’s winding down where you are?

Such fabulous sunflowers! They always make me smile even on hot days like the ones this week.
The heat has been turned up here too, and we’ve decided we’ve had enough this year! We’re getting a reprieve for a couple of days, but then it’s going to be back. Guess we’ll just have to tough it out!
We are so ready for cooler weather so we can go exploring more of our new area. Itโs too hot now!
At least you have something fun to look forward to, hope you get to do that soon!
I love sunflowers, they are so cheerful.
They are just like smiling faces! ๐
your flowers are gorgeous! Summer is leaving kicking and screaming…we are going to be in the 90s Monday and Tuesday. Summer can’t leave fast enough for me!
I had been enjoying it, but this last hot spell did me in. I’m ready for fall!
The guinea boys – that’s cute. It’s nice to see some grass. Our back yard is dirt. Between the huge oak tree and Jan’s black thumb, we don’t have any flowers. ๐
We bought our house just over two years ago, and it came with almost all of the flowers we have. We sure got lucky! It also came with a huge lawn though, and I think hubby might be happier if it was all dirt. LOL
Summer is winding down here, too! Gosh those sunflowers are so pretty! I have never been able to grow them successfully as squirrels like to eat them.
Ha ha, we just found that out, when squirrels decided to attack ours! It took them a while to get to them, but maybe because Luke often chases them out of the yard. They must have figured out when he’s sleeping!
What beautiful sunflowers, we are appreciating the sunny warm days as we get them too!
I’m such a weenie when it comes to winter. Just the prospect depresses me. Those sunflowers are gorgeous!
I have a feeling this winter will be tougher around here, without Cricket dragging me outside to play ball. ๐
We love the sunflowers! It’s one of the mom’s favorite flowers.
Those flowers sure are pretty and Luke sure does look relaxed!
A few years back my neighbor had sunflowers, and they grew quite tall! I don’t know about you, but I am welcoming the dryer weather.
I imagine if I had a yard that pretty, I’d be spending a lot of time out there too!
There are some types of sunflowers that get really huge, but I’ve never had those. Maybe I’ll try for them next year. ๐
Thank you on our yard – I really love it!
Sunflowers are so pretty! A true sign of summer. But, I also love Day lilies and azaleas.
We had both of those flowers here as well, but they are all gone by now.
I had a random sunflower seed plant itself in one of my little pots I had on the back porch (I think it came from the bird feeder) so I just repotted the herb that was in that pot and let it grow! I love sunflowers, so I was so excited–and then we got a huge rainstorm and it blew off the table and the top got knocked off and the pot broke, so I’m glad I can have a chance to enjoy your sunflowers! They’re so pretty!
I’m glad we shared ours so you could enjoy them!
Fall is coming fast! Beautiful sunflowers!! Have a great weekend
maybe that are those we planted? not one came… isn’t that crazy? next year I plant none, then I get them too ;O))
Now that’s a good plan!! ๐
We had a couple cool days, but heat and humidity is coming back. We can’t wait for summer to end! Pretty yellow flowers you have.
I think I’m officially over summer now too. We just had another hot spell and it was too much. We’re having a couple of cool days, but another hot spell after that! We are ready for autumn, even though it means the gardens will die down.
