Luke was the first dog explorer to head out onto our new 17 acres of land to see what we could find!
There were lots of things to sniff, trees to climb over, and some almost trails.
We found rocks to climb on and pose for photos.
There are many stone walls and old foundations on our property, which I love. They are a sign of former homesteads from days gone by.
We need to see what’s over there too!
We did not find the fountain of youth, but we did find lots of water for our potential pond site!

We stayed close to within sight of the house, but did a big loop around it. There is still plenty of woods left to explore on future expeditions, and of course the Dadz and the girls will be joining us! We also plan to blaze trails so we have plenty of clear places to walk, and won’t have to worry about getting lost out there.
BOL to 17 acres of land!! That would be interesting if you got lost on your own land 😉
Luckily cell phones seem to work out there. LOL
OMDoodle – what do you plan/dream to do with all that acreage? Spill the beans 🙂
We are going to put in some hiking/walking trails, and the pond! The land is actually already divided into three lots so we’re going to have one lot logged (sustainably) to clear a house site. We might sell that lot down the road, build a smaller retirement house for us, or just use the timber for our own wood stove, plus we can sell some of it. Lots of exciting possibilities! Thanks for asking! 🙂
Very cool. I am jealous of your nice property.
🙂 You put the idea in my head about a pond, and that was one thing that was the top of my list when we were looking at houses; either it had to have a pond or the possibility of putting one in!
I’m so envious, it looks like heaven. I can’t wait to see more. So glad the weather is decent so you can see where you’re heading.
Have you considered marking the trails? Ours are marked here, but after walking them so many times I can almost always find my way.
Well, the weather was decent on that day, but hasn’t been since! It’s either been raining, snowing, or just darn cold and windy! But it’s looking to improve soon so we’ll be back out there again.
Yes, I definitely want to mark the trails. I’m even hoping to have my hubby help me to make a map of them. I’m sure I would find my way in time too, but I’m a little paranoid of getting lost out there!
What a cool walk!
So much fun to explore new places!! Cocoa loves to go to different trails and parks to smell all the new smells!!
17 acres?!? That’s a whole lotta exploring to do!!
You look like a true explorer
Lily & Edward
We are totally envious…17 acres all your own to explore.
You and your dogs are so lucky. My mom would just worry about snakes and ticks. Love Dolly
We don’t see a lot of snakes around here, so I’m not worried about them, but I am definitely worried about ticks! I hope to make nice wide trails so we can stay out of the brush where they usually hide. We’ll also wear repellent whenever we go out there (I even sprayed Luke that day because the warmer winter has them out earlier this year).
Oh. My. Dog!!! I am sooo jealous!! 17 acres to romp, play, and walk on would be FABULOUS for both the girls and me!! Shadow isn’t all that keen on water; but Ducky LOVES the kiddie pool at daycare during the summer!
Cricket loves to cool off in the kiddie pool that we have too, but she’s not too nuts about swimming. Luke and Sheba both love to swim though!
Looks like you have it all to yourself, how fun! We love your bandana!! Thanks for sharing!
What a wonderful place for you all to explore! I love old stone walls, too! That was one of my favorite things to see on our adventures when we traveled to MA a few summers ago. So glad that Luke got to go out for such a cool expedition.
We would love to have 17 acres of woods to romp in! It would have to be well fenced and then we would be off…stopping back home for meals and bedtime, of course! Enjoy!
If only we could fence in the whole thing…then we’d have our own dog park! 🙂
What a WONDERFUL world you all have to explore – old stone walls can make “new” stone walls too which would be fun……..and a pond – perfection!
Hugs, Sammy
wow Luke you have your own forest now! you can name it Lukewood forest and you can be like that Robin Hood there :o)
I LOVE that idea, Easy, thanks, buddy!!! I am going to have the Momz make me a sign!
Woofs, Luke
