Finally, I got someone to wear the elf hat! After years of trying, and nothing but pathetic and sad faces with the hat on, I got some cooperation (after wrestling with him and telling him the hat was not a toy….)
I was excited about putting the tree out on the new porch. This is Luke’s first Christmas tree (he came home just before Christmas last year but we didn’t have a tree up), and he’s been pretty good with it (we’ve only had to “trade” treats for two ornaments so far, but we keep the gate up or the porch door closed when we’re not there to watch him). I kept the decorations pretty simple and safe too though.
Welcome to Day 14 of the #Advent4Dogs 24 days of giveaways, hosted by Kol’s Notes, Dogthusiast, Heart Like a Dog, NEPA Pets & Wag’n’Woof Pets. Today’s prize is a handmade beaded dog collar from Tales from the Backroad, in your choice of design. Open to US and Canada. Click here to enter.

Poor Luke. I have seen that look. In fact I may have a picture with that look or three next week…lol.
Oh good, I can’t wait to see yours! lol
He makes an adorable elf! I have a really cute pic of Rita in ours! I should probably post it!
Thanks! You definitely should post your photo of Rita!
What a sweet photo! And an extra nice memory!
Thanks, it’s definitely a keeper. 🙂
I dunno, Luke doesn’t look as if he’s “all in” on this elf hat thing….
Still PAWdorable though…
“Hurry up and take the picture, Mom, I want my treats!!” That’s the only reason he cooperated, that and he’s just such a good boy. 🙂
Yeah!!! Woofs to you. It’s adorable, love it and glad you were able to take some photos. Golden Woofs
Thank you! We might have to try for a Santa hat next year. 🙂
Jan, this pic made me smile. I love it.
I hope he enjoys his first Christmas with you. I have already purchased toys for my furry ones. They love presents. 🙂
I’m glad you enjoyed the photo, Mel. We’ve got toys and treats for presents, even though these guys don’t really need anything!
What a cute pic. Fortunately neither Jack or Maggie pay any attention to the tree.
We rarely have a full tree anymore. Our golden Moses never outgrew being a klepto, so we got out of the habit of it. 🙂 The porch is a good location though because we can keep them out of there when we need to.
OMC! What a cute pic. 🙂
Thank you!!
Luke looks awesome as an elf! Hopefully he won’t be as mischievous once he gets used to it! LOL!
LOL I think when he gets older maybe he won’t feel the need to chew on everything. We definitely need more practice though!
So cute! Yeah, getting ME to wear a hat is certainly a task! I don’t go quietly… but as with this photo, the final product is worth the effort! *wags* – Gilligan from wagsahoy.com
It definitely is worth it! Thanks, Gilligan!
The hat is darling! Great photo!
Thank you!!
Awww Luke!!! Your such a good sport! Way to go pal!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Someone has to be the Christmas elf, right? He did a great job!
Good boy Luke! I made Mr. N wear antlers but they kept falling off.
Too bad, I bet Mr. N looked cute in the antlers!
I might have to try some different things now. I had the elf hat from years ago, but the other dogs hated it. When I found it with my decorations, I was excited thinking Luke might be better about it!
We hope he got lots of treats for his patience and modeling skills.
Don’t you worry, he certainly did! 🙂
Luke, I feel for you bro’ but I know your mom is proud of you, and its a great picture! Love Dolly (Pees: Taffy’s only tried to eat one ornament so far, me none).
Woo, you’re doing good, Dolly! Yeah, poor Luke, but he does like to make his Mom happy. 🙂
LOL! He looks a bit confused! Nice tree too!
Thank you! His expression is funny….I think he just wants to know how long he has to sit there before the next treat. LOL
This is my first christmas with a tree…Mom says I am “worse than the cats” with it. Can you believe that she said that?
Oh yes, I can definitely believe that. 🙂
that is just too stinkin’ cute!
Poor guy probably wants to be a tough dog, but I always call him my cute boy! 🙂
He looks so cute!
Thank you!
I’m jealous, too! None of my three like wearing head gear, either. Heck, they don’t like wearing their raincoats either, but they don’t have a choice about that! The tree is lovely! And I love the little bits of color! Luke looks adorable in the elf hat.
Thanks! I was afraid if I didn’t color the hat, no one would notice it. Luke is so much more cooperative than the girls….he’ll wear anything without putting up a fuss, other than wanting to play with it! I had so much fun putting sweaters and jackets on him last winter (but now we need much bigger ones…LOL).
I love the top of your tree, that’s too cute! Enjoy your first tree Luke, the first tree is the best :o)
Thanks! The whole tree has an animal theme, I hope to share more photos of it before Christmas. I think Luke is liking his first tree!
Luke looks adorable in the hat! That’s a great photo in fact – he’s looking RIGHT at you……!
Hugs, Sammy
Thank you!! Luke is going to turn out to be my new dog model…he’s the only one that really cooperates!
OMD he is adorable!!!!! I love it!!!! Pretty tree in black and white.
Thanks!! I just wish I’d gotten some better close up shots of him. I might try again. I also hope to share some more photos of the tree in color.
Absolutely wonderful photo! I think I’m jealous. Not one of my 3 like wearing any kind of head gear 🙁
Poor Luke though…he’ll have to do all the dressing up from now on! LOL
