Raise your hand if your dog or cat likes to “help” you make the bed!!

I wonder what their motivation is? Do they just think we humans are silly for making the bed every morning (if that’s what you do), just to unmake it every night? It does seem kind of like a futile exercise, doesn’t it? Some mornings I might think “maybe today I’ll skip making the bed”, especially if Luke happens to be on it when I want to do it, or I’m pressed for time. I’m a compulsive neat freak though, and I just have to do it.
It’s especially fun when you are changing the sheets and your pet wants to get on them with every layer you add. Sometimes I make Luke move, sometimes I just make it an all day project, sneaking in to finish it when he’s outside! π
Or maybe they just don’t like the way we do it…..

Does your pet “help” make the bed?

MOL I wuv to “help” make da bed and I also wuv it when her leaves it unmade buts her a neat freak like yourself and dat rarely happens π
xoxo,
Matilda (& Matt)
I’m glad I’m not the only one who is a neat freak!! π
Ha ha! I changed the sheets today, and it is amazing how they want to get on the half made bed π
There is just something fun about it! I think they know they can get attention that way too. π
Oh yes all mine help me make the bed. The cat loves to go under and scurry around.
I imagine you have a bed full at times!! π
Hee-hee, too funny-and cute, what an adorable helper you have! With your captions, I am sure it is just what Luke is thinking, and how right he may be, lol! Nina sure does love to help too, all she wants to do is get under those covers as I try to make it. I wait her out most times like you!
I used to put the covers right over Cricket, but she didn’t care for that much. π She was nothing like Karen’s crazy beagles!
The dogs remind me of why I just shouldn’t worry about not having a perfectly made bed, or straighten the rugs because they’re always laying or standing on them when I do! π
Oh yes, the standing on the rugs thing – all the time!! π You are so right, why do we even bother??
Sister Zoe and I are the bed helpers here! Luke sure does look comfy!
I bet it’s even more fun on your new, bigger bed!! π
My Joanie loves to help me make the bed. π
I knew there had to be at least one in your bunch that would! π
Wally was the one that liked to help make the bed. Me…not so much. Though I like playing in the blankets when they are on the floor. ~Ernie
Ah, you have your own way of helping, Ernie! I bet your Mom is sad every time she makes the bed now though. π
The boys don’t get on our bed. Pierre sleeps with me at night but won’t jump on the bed by himself. Bentley has never been allowed on the bed because he could injure his back getting down. Now, my cats used to love to lay in the middle of my bed while I made it.
Luke has stairs because of his bad knees, but he only uses them half the time. I can see why you would not let Bentley up there. β₯
Well we don’t have that with Dakota because he isn’t permitted in the bedroom (only because we are in an apartment/condo building and I never wanted his barking to wake up our downstairs neighbor), Cody is permitted on the bed but for some strange reason when he jumps on, he stays on for like 2 minutes and then leaves. He’s crazy! My Angel Bobo used to ALWAYS sleep on the bed!
Maybe Cody thinks it’s only fair if Dakota can’t hang out on the bed, he shouldn’t either. π
Arty used to “help”, but I have made it a game for him to “wait” until I’m finished making the bed and then he jumps up for a major snuggle session!
That’s a great idea! Luke might go for that too. π
My Alex helps me make the bed. I have a king size bed and he likes to lay smack dab in the middle of it – 18 pounds of him. He is also a bed hog! Now I make the bed when he is eating breakfast. When he is done with breakfast, he hops on the bed on his blanket and naps – what a life!!
Alex definitely has it pretty good! It’s amazing how much space little dogs can take up! π
Our Little Bit didn’t care one bit, but I had a kitty that made things difficult. What a fond memory. I would let Luke help in a hot second.
Thank you for joining the Happy Tuesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Happy Tuesday. Scritches to Luke. β₯
I’m not sure I’d know how to do it without his help! π
Hahaha. that is too funny. My resident Knucklehead only uses the bed now as a napkin…after he eats. He’s constantly wiping eye snot or snoot crumb along the side of the comforter. π
Hahaha, now that is not a good use for the comforter!
If trying to get mom to play ball with me while she makes the bed, then I am most helpfulβΊ
Our beagle Cricket would have agreed with that! π
we are very helpful… and we make the bed 87 times per day ;O)
I can imagine….I know what great helpers you guys are!! π
Merlin is definitely a hindrance to me making the bed. Once when i just made the bed i left the room for a minute and came back to an unmade bed. So awhile later i made the bed, left the room and i heard jumping sounds. Turns out Merlin was jumping and spinning around on the bed lol.
Oh my gosh, that is too funny!! Silly Merlin!
Our cats used to help Mom make the bed, but they don’t anymore. She is all on her own.
It’s not nearly as much fun that way. π
For the first 8 years or so of Bear’s life, my sheets lasted a couple months because he would scratch and bite the sheet while I made the bed. I started closing him out of the room and he took up a 6 inch section of carpet. Now I miss watching him running through the sheets and attacking the blanket monster π
It’s funny how sometimes when they get older, we miss their old habits, even when they were destructive! Our golden retriever, Moses, used to eat our comforters and I could not have a good one on the bed. Now Luke scratches at them and invariably puts holes in them. I’ve just kind of given up on having anything nice. LOL
