December was a little rough on our fitness routines, between holiday preparations and get togethers, and Sheba recovering from surgery. Luke and Cricket still got play time in the yard, while I threw a ball lightly on the deck for Sheba so she didn’t feel totally left out; and Sheba was also getting some short walks.

Luckily just before Christmas Sheba was all healed up and ready to get back to playing, and we got a few inches of snow just in time for that! The crew is so happy to be back to normal play and so am I.
We are not making any New Year’s resolutions per se, but I know I need to get my act together and not only continue with daily yard play, but add some variety in as well. The snow can be rough on everyone’s joints so we have to start out with shorter play sessions until we know how everyone does. I plan to add more walks back into our routines, and I’m hoping for more snow so I can get out my snowshoes as well.
The crew has also really been having fun playing indoors with new toys, and I want to get back to more training with everyone as well as nose work games on days we might be stuck inside. Up until now, our weather had been so warm we didn’t have to think much about being stuck inside!

Do you have any fitness plans or goals with your dogs for the New Year?

Doesn’t it seem like snow brings out the playful in pups?
I’m having trouble making resolutions too. Everything seems so unsettled. But I sure would love to arrive somewhere warm for some beach play time with Honey. She loves running and digging on the beach.
Oh, it definitely does! There is nothing like a fresh snow to wind them up!
I think resolving to end up on a warm beach with Honey is perfect for you – and I sure hope you get to follow through on that one soon!
Yesterday we had our first really cold day and it was rough on all of us! It has been easy to be active until now. All I want to do is lay on the couch with some dogs and a nice warm blanket!
We just got our coldest days yesterday and today…and I am right with you on wanting to just lie on the couch with a blanket and the dogs!
Wow! You’ve got snow. Looks beautiful. Yes, actually we do have new fitness plans this year. Can’t wait to share on Friday. We’re bike riding!!!! Stay tuned.
Oh, bike riding, now that will be fun! Can’t wait to hear more about it!
Looks like the pups had a blast. I hate this time of year for the darkness. Hubby usually takes the dogs in our basement and does some lining drills with them. it is not much, but it is something at least.
I am so lucky that I work shorter days so that we have enough daylight time to play. But now our yard is an icy mess so we’re mostly stuck inside anyway (plus it’s darn cold out right now!).
Everyone looks like they were really enjoying playing in the snow.
What a great time they are having, glad Sheba is cleared and can get out and have some fun with them.
I need to get a few Jolly Balls for our pack. I know so many dogs who love them and I bet our dogs would love them too. Happy New Year!!!
It is such a great workout! Luke hauls that thing around, and you can see in the photo how he throws himself on it too….it’s really good all around exercise for him, especially when he’s running with it. It is always the toy he grabs when he is doing his “zoomies”. 🙂
Oh.My.Dog!!! Looky at all that snowooooowoooooooooo! Looks like furry much fun! Wooowooooooooooo!
We don’t do resolutions either. I love seeing your crew playing in the snow, even if it is only in photos. I miss the snow storms we used to get back on Long Island. The snow we get here barely lasts more than an hour or two. But my girls love running around in it. I know if it snows this winter, I’m gonna start bawling because Callie’s not here to enjoy it with us. But watching Ducky and Shadow will make laugh through the tears.
I’m jealous of that snow! Happy New Year!
Unfortunately we got rain on top of the snow, and now with the temperatures getting colder it’s turning kind of icy…which is definitely not ideal. Hoping for some fresh snow to cover it up soon (or it could just get warmer and soften the ice).
We just want to continue staying healthy 🙂 Thankfully we’ve been really lucky with an extremely mild winter here in NC, and haven’t been stuck inside at all.
We’re headed for our first below zero weather tomorrow – I am not looking forward to it and we’ll definitely be looking at the indoor games!
I think staying healthy is the best goal of all.
That looks like such a great time! We don’t get snow here. I’d love to see how the dogs react to it!
They are so cute! That snow looks so fun! Happy New Year! 😀
We don’t make resolutions, either! 😉
We haven’t had any snow here since 1960 so that isn’t a problem for us. But it did get below 50 and yes, we are wimps. When we go to the mountains where we keep our snow, the dogs don’t want to leave the car. Your guys look so happy playing in the snow and we love the orange ball
Have a great 2016
I haven’t had a dog yet that didn’t love the snow….but maybe they just do because it’s what they’re used to! Temperatures that mostly stay above 50 degrees would be fine with me though!
I want to do more training with Cocoa. Tricks and some behavior issues I know would benefit from some training. And running more varied routes. We have been doing the same routes and need a change of scenery on our runs!!
Those are all great plans! A change of scenery is always good, and I think helps to keep us motivated. I need to do the same for our walks.
Wishing you all the very best in 2016!! Happy New Year!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We are going to be working on better fitness for everyone here. It will take a few weeks to build up some stamina for myself, but I know that the end result will be worth it. It is so great to see Sheba out playing again. Happy New Year!
I’ve been kind of slack on my own fitness lately too, so will also need to work back up to things. It always feels so good to be fitter, I don’t know why I find it so hard to stick with it! Thank goodness I have the dogs to motivate me!
Happy New Year
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Looks like a lot of fun out in the snow. We love to race around in the snow. It makes for a good workout too!
It’s fun seeing them all play in the yard together. 🙂 Happy New Year!
No specific plans other than staying healthy…Happy New Year!
your ball rocks, Luke! we only try to make it better than last year. that’s our only one resolution… and it’s probably difficult enough hahahahaha Have a good 2016 with a lot of good things.
