There is so much more to a dog walk than just the walking!
A Farm Dog’s Finds:
We’re not sure if this was a turkey or a hawk feather (I think turkey but there’s been a lot of hawks around lately too). Either way, Luke thinks they are fun to crunch on!
Speaking of eating while on walks, who else has to constantly say “Stop grazing!” when they’re out on a dog walk? That’s followed by “you can eat grass at home!”

Then there’s the sniffing….that one we don’t mind.

Of course, there’s the ever-important “stopping for a cute photo”!
Luke would just as soon skip that one, but he does enjoy the treat he gets afterwards!
What else does your dog do when on a walk?
We are happy to be joining our friends at Comedy Plus for the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. Please visit them and other blogs through the links below!
I have to watch my pups on their walks. Once, while camping in New Mexico, our little dog, Jazz, grazed on some dusky gray weed that made him sick afterwards. I knew that I couldn’t 100% trust his doggy instinct. So I try to encourage them on when they think they need to eat the weeds. I’ll bet you know your woods and what is safe or not, but we travel a bit and I’m never sure.
We don’t have too much around to worry about, and Luke does seem pretty savvy about only eating the stuff he should. I do keep a close eye on him though.
We spend more time peeing and sniffing than walking but boys will be boys. BOL!
Yup! What can you do? 🙂
LOVE!!!!
So many cool smells and sites
Oh dogs are best companions for a walk ~ I miss my walking companion ~ Wonderful photos ~ hugs to you and your furperson ^_^

Thank you. ♥
Looks like you had fun Luke.
Always!! 🙂
It’s not just a walk…it’s call exploring!
Exactly! Even when it’s the same old trails there are new things to see and smell!
Wow, dog walking is a whole lot more than we knew about! I love the posing, such a sweet smile!
I think the actual walking is the last thing on Luke’s agenda too. LOL
Lovely photo of you Luke. Cats get excited by feathers too. My boys loved to play with any they found, usually pheasant or pigeon.
I used to bring some in for our cat Sam too!
Luke has the sweetest (and earnest looking) face. For us, we’re all about the sniff probably because sidewalks are boring so we have to check out vegetation along the way. Happy walking!
He’s a very serious boy. 🙂
You sure do enjoy those out n’ abouts handsome Luke!
You got that right, Brian!!
While I believe Ducky and Luke are similar in many ways, eating grass is not one of them…the only time she eats grass is when she’s super anxious and needs to dislodge a piece of food that didn’t go down quite right, or when her tummy is already upset. But she does LOVE to sniff everything – what dog doesn’t?! – and hates the obligatory photo ops.
I do believe Master Luke gets more handsome with every photo I see! Belly rubs and kisses from us!!
I think there are occasions when Luke eats grass because he’s nervous too, and sometimes to settle his stomach. But mostly he just does it because. 🙂
And he thanks you! ♥
From what I could see of the feather, in my opinion it’s most likely a Hawk feather. That feather doesn’t look like any of the Turkey feathers I’ve ever seen and we get a lot of Turkey where I live since I live in the country near the woods.
Thanks for your input! We haven’t seen many turkeys lately, so it’s probably far more likely a hawk. Plus I think it was smaller than the turkey ones we’ve found in the past.
oh a feather? next time you can find da whole berd, we are sure ;O) we dislike that looking cute for a photo moments, therefore we mostly get weird pictures LOL
That would probably be way more excitement than the Momz could handle. BOL
Our Little Bit did all those things. Always checking the peemail too. Leaving a trail of that herself. Pups have important things to do while on a walk.
Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. My best to you and smooches to Luke. ♥
Yeah, I forgot the pee mail part, checking and leaving! That’s a definite! 🙂
Olivia eats grass a lot but never gets sick from it. Bailie and I eat it occasionally, but always get sick and then we don’t eat anymore that day. Weird. We asked our vet and she said both cases are normal.
Our vet has always said it’s fine too. Luke does on occasion get sick afterwards but that’s very rare for him.
I LOVE eating grass on my walk too, Luke, and mom is constantly nagging at me too.
MOMS! – am I right?
xo
