As I mentioned earlier in the week, the crew didn’t get all their presents on Christmas. I didn’t want to rush their big gift, and I was busy getting ready for company and then after that was all over I was just too tired!

Yesterday, the big gift finally came out! Our weather had turned worse, and our nice fluffy snow got rained on and melted and left the yard a bit icy so outside play time was limited. We had another snow storm on the way, but while we waited for that to give us a nice layer of soft snow, it was the perfect time to set up the new gift in our nice long hallway!

Sheba is always the last one to use the tunnel, so she hasn’t been in there yet, but Luke and Cricket were happy to check it out! They’ll have more fun with it outside, but we’re going to try to keep this one out of the bad weather so it lasts longer. For the winter, we’ll set it up in the house from time to time when we can’t get outside.
We bought the Houseables 18 foot dog tunnel* (thanks to the suggestion from our blog friend Beth at Travels with Barley). It’s very similar to our old tunnel, but it looks like it might be a bit more rugged. I like the black material along the wire, and the grommets for securing to the ground are shorter, so that might make them less apt to pull off. We’ll see – but at least the price was reasonable too.

I wanted to get kitty Samantha something more too. I had a gift card I hoped to use locally so I could pick out exactly what I wanted for her. Unfortunately, the store didn’t have what I had in mind. Instead we got her a Drinkwell Pet Fountain*. We had a ceramic fountain that we had won at the old house, and both Sam and Luke loved it, but it got broken when we moved.

Sam started using it almost immediately, though I didn’t have the camera there when she did. She also got this nice Whisker City soft sided carrier. I wanted something more cozy for her than our old plastic one, since she has to go to the vet more now with all her health issues. This one will be easier to get her in and out of since it also opens on the top. I hate to say it, but once she’d lost her eyesight, it was easier to get her in the old one, but getting her out at the vet’s office was still challenging. She may be mostly blind, but she still knows where she is!

Our old carrier was just a bit too big for her too, and it was difficult to carry it without her crashing around a little bit in there. I think this one will be more comfortable and cozy for her. Sam will still be getting her other gift as well, I ordered it online so it will take a little longer. We will be sure to show you when it comes!
We are looking forward to the new year and we have some fun posts coming up! We’ll have the review and giveaway that was supposed to be this month coming next week, and we’ll be having one or two more giveaways after that, so stay tuned.
HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ALL OF US AT WAG ‘N WOOF PETS!
That tunnel looks like a lot of fun. Sam got some nice stuff too. Love the fancy carrier.
Sam heads to the vet on Wednesday for some tests, so we’ll find out if the new carrier is functional as well as fancy!
Yay! I’m so glad that tunnel is working out for your crew! We’re already looking forward to spring so we can break ours out again in the yard and show Rye what fun it is.
Some super dooper prezzies! That tunnel is great!! Have lots of fun with it!
A tunnel of fun! Oh happy days. Warmest wishes for a cool 2017.
OMG, we have the same exact tunnel and it’s super sturdy!! We love it, especially on those crappy days when you can’t really exercise outside. I’ve also brought it out into the yard a few times but it generally lives inside 🙂
I’m going to try to do better to keep this one inside during the bad weather, so hopefully it will last longer. The old one did go for quite a while, until I got lazy and left it outside all the time. 🙂
wow that is a super tunnel… do you know the magic spell to make it to a teleport tunnel? Happy New Year to you all, we hope it will be a good one for all people & pets
I had a feeling it was a tunnel! I still have to get one for Ducky; just haven’t had the time. Maybe I’ll order it for her birthday. Shadow doesn’t really like the little tunnel – maybe it makes her feel claustrophobic?
I’m sure that’s possible. Our Lab mix Maggie did not like going under bridges when we used to take her out in our boat, and we had to run under them or through tunnels when walking – and those were much bigger and further away. Sheba is more hesitant about the tunnel, but she did like to take the ball in there when we had the old one outside.
I need to get Bear a new carrier … by the time I get him in there, I need a nap and not a drive to the vet. That one looks collapsible, which is even better because I don’t have a lot of space!
Before Samantha lost her eyesight, she was very difficult to get into that carrier (we wrapped her in a towel, the only thing that worked, and even then she could squirm out of it sometimes). Why I didn’t get a new one sooner, I don’t know! Maybe just because she was so healthy and only had to go to the vet once a year up until a couple years ago.
This one is collapsible, yes, definitely great for storing!
Wow, a tunnel indoors – you pups are living the good life!
I have a carrier similar to the one you got for Samantha. A word of caution from my own mistake – make sure the front opening is zipped shut when you’re using the top loader. Last time I took Raven to the vet I didn’t realize the front door zipper wasn’t fully zipped (I put her in from the top). Luckily, she did not escape while I was toting her in/out of the car. Those carriers are nice because they’re so quiet and don’t have any clattering doors or latches.
Thank you for the tip! I can totally see myself doing that same thing!
Way cool!! We love tunnels!
Every time I see other pups enjoying a tunnel I get depressed. Harley nor Jaxson seem remotely interested. Leo was just too freaking big so I never expected him to go through. Glad to see your crew are having some fun. Enjoy!
The pups are gonna have some fun now! And we’re glad Sam is using her new fountain. Happy New Year to all of you!!
I knew it was a new tunnel! I am so excited for the gang. I hope they have many wonderful days playing with it. Happy New Year.
Oh such fun and nice gifts! Happy New Year everyone!!!
Bet kitty is going to love that gift
Lily & Edward
Bailie and I start agility classes next week, so we will get even more tunnel fun time! Ours is holding up alright so far here at home. Mom get a PetSafe drinking fountain about 18 months ago for Sophie since she is crazy about fresh and running water. Bailie and Sophie are the ones who love to drink out of it. I think your crew got some great stuff!
I haven’t been able to catch Sam using it a lot yet, but when I did see her, she was drinking the running water, not out of the bowl. I remember her doing that with the last one too; she loved the water bubbling at the top.
We are definitely going to get Luke another one at some point too, and maybe the girls will try it this time.
Looks like they’re having loads of fun with the tunnel! What a great present!
