Except When You Want it To.
I had been on the fence about getting raincoats for the dogs. My hope in getting coats was that I would stop making excuses about going out in the rain to walk or play in the yard with them. I shopped around for a while but never could find exactly what I wanted. One of the features that was important to me was a tummy panel to keep the dogs’ bellies cleaner and drier. Cricket is especially low to the ground and needs this! This is the one feature that was the most difficult to find in a reasonably priced dog raincoat.
One day I ran across a post from Coats Made by De on Instagram. I had been following her for a while, but just hadn’t thought of her when it came to raincoats. When I got on her website I immediately found just what I was looking for. We talked by email and she was interested in some photos to use on her website and social media, so we came to an agreement that I would try to provide some.
Disclosure: We were compensated for sharing about Coats Made by De, but Wag ‘n Woof Pets only shares products we believe in and feel will be of interest to our readers. All opinions are our own.
Fun with Modeling
When we got our coats, Luke, Cricket, and I just went out and had some fun taking photos. I didn’t really expect Cricket to cooperate much, but when I downloaded the photos afterwards I found some fun ones! Both dogs hammed it up a bit and acted like true models striking different poses. We all enjoyed it and I wanted to share some of the more entertaining photos we got here.

The raincoats are all I wanted, with a soft waterproof material, tummy panel, and hoods. Ours are unlined, but you can get a lined coat as well. In retrospect I probably should have skipped the hoods because neither dog is too thrilled about having things on their heads, so they would keep shaking the hoods off! That’s OK, having the hood up around the neck still gives us a little extra coverage even if they won’t keep it on.

Finally, Some Rain!
The funny thing was that after I got the coats and took our photos, we didn’t get any rain for quite a while! We finally got to put them to the test playing in the yard last week, and they kept the dogs quite dry.

There is a hole along the back so we can attach their harnesses when we walk, and I also like how easily adjustable the strap around the waist is. Coats Made by De are completely custom made to your dogs’ exact measurements, so you know the fit will be good! You can also choose different features you might like.
De makes all different types of coats so check her website out if you are looking for something to keep your dogs warm and dry, and even cool. You can also find her on Instagram and other social media, and maybe you’ll see our crew on there! Go over to her website to check it out and make this page your first stop: Dog Raincoat with Tummy Panel and Hood. We want to be sure you see our very own Luke in his first modeling job! 😊

I love the raincoats I use for the Boys. Neither one of them like the hoods but that’s okay. It really saves on the grooming bill an it makes drying them much easier. I don’t have to dry the body – just legs tails and heads! LOL
The less to dry, the easier it is, right? 🙂
Great photos of the dogs having fun in their rain coats. Looks like they aren’t bothered at all by them (except the hood) and you’ll get a lot of use out of them.
Well, maybe, if it ever rains here! I may even use Cricket’s in the winter a bit. She doesn’t need a coat to stay warm, but if it’s snowing this could help to keep her a bit drier!
NICE rain jackets! Like you, keeping the underside dry was as important as the top part. Well done.
Thank you! It took me long enough, but perseverance pays off! 🙂
what a great photo shoot, they are adorable and the jackets are very cool
I’ve never been big on dressing my dogs, but darn, they do look cute, don’t they? LOL
Those look fantastic! When we had two big doggies they had rain coats too and they totally loved wearing them whenever it rained!
I think Cricket will get used to hers in time too; and as long as she’s busy she really doesn’t care.
Those look great. Your pups are great models. I’m glad that both like their coats!
Thank you! Before Luke, I could barely get anyone to model anything…so things are improving in that department!
Your pups are quite the models – I think they should be on magazine covers! Great coats, it’s wonderful that someone is filling the void for truly good coverage.
Thank you! I also think it’s great to have an option for custom coats too. Some coats I’ve bought for Luke just haven’t fit right. It makes a big difference.
Oh my dog!!! The pictures of Luke and Cricket with the hoods on are so incredibly adorable!!! I love that you’d never know how old Cricket is seeing how well she playfully models. She just warms my heart and makes my day!
Thank you! I love it so much when Cricket acts like a puppy. She has her “old lady” days too, so it’s always refreshing and inspiring to see her go when she’s feeling well. ♥
If we are camping or out for hikes and it starts rining we put rain slickers on…but we we aren’t real big on rainy day walkies. You both are rockin’ your raincoats!!
xoxo,
Jakey, Arty & Rosy
I wish I’d had raincoats for our dogs back in the days when we camped too, but hubby wouldn’t hear of it! Now that I have the blog, I can get away with a lot more. 😉
I know all about trying to keep the belly clean. Ruby has the same problem plus she is a light color so everything shows. These look really nice – love the hood, the belly coverage and the hole for the harness and leash.
We have had tons of rain here – too bad Ruby didn’t have one of these coats.
Send some rain our way! We are hopelessly dry. I don’t think we’ve had any rain since I wrote this post and took the photos of them playing.
Sure could have used that coat for Dakota the other day, I like that it looks lightweight. Great photos!
It really is lightweight, which I know is important for breeds like Dakota with longer fur. Even though Cricket is a short-haired breed, her fur is actually very thick too.
Those look great. It is so much easier to have them in a coat, and a little drier.
I couldn’t decide at first, but the coats are pretty easy to put on too, so I think in the long run this is definitely easier.
My girls have raincoats already – though they really don’t like wearing them – but I think our friend Jodi at Heart Like A Dog would be interested.
Shadow’s and Ducky’s raincoats (and Callie’s, which I still have somewhere) have hoods, too, but they don’t like them at all. Personally, I prefer hoods on my jackets to using umbrellas but that’s me.
I prefer hoods too! You’d think the dogs would join me in that. LOL. I guess they probably don’t care that much if their heads get wet or their ears get cold. 🙂
I love the colors and with the hood they look super fabulous… I understand that the two waited for the furst rainy day to try their stylish new coats ;o)))
We’re still waiting for another rainy day so we can try them on a walk!!
There was a dog with a rain coat at the barn hunt last weekend, it was pretty funny. We prefer to go out natural. If need be for boots because of the severe cold or wet snow in the winter, that is all we ever wear. Enjoy your rain gear.
You girls have good thick fur, and Cricket does too. But sometimes that thick fur is like a sponge and really absorbs the water! 🙂
