Our golden retriever visits a groomer every few months or so, but in between those visits I groom her myself, the best I can. One of the biggest challenges of this is trimming her paws. Sheba’s paws can get crazy with fur sticking out between her toes every which way. I love to trim them up and give her what I always call “pretty paws”. Not only do her paws look pretty, but it makes nail trimming much easier when that crazy fur is not in the way. Having a good pair of grooming scissors is essential to make this task easier.

Sheba doesn’t love to have this done, she puts up with it but it’s sometimes a bit of a struggle getting her to let me hold onto her paw. So the quicker it can go the better.
I have to admit, when I was given these Stainless Steel Dog Grooming Scissors to try, I was very surprised by how much easier they made this task! I expected them to work fine, since they were designed for use by dog show exhibitors, but I am amazed by just how well they work.
To start with, they are smaller than the previous scissors I used, and they fit far more comfortably in my hand. The rubber non-slip padded eye rings along with the ergonomically designed handle make them easy to hold onto.

However, what I was most impressed with was just how sharp the stainless steel blades are, making trimming quick and easy, without having to go over the same areas continually. The finely serrated edges make a huge difference in how they cut. But they also have rounded safety tips, so I don’t have to worry about hurting Sheba when trimming in between her paw pads, like I did with my old pointy scissors.
I don’t have dog breeds that need to be trimmed around their eyes or face, but I can see where these scissors would work excellent for that task as well. I also used them to trim Cricket’s paw pads. Being able to trim the excess fur there means a lot less dirt tracked into the house.

I am also impressed with the reasonable price of these scissors. When I started to do some grooming myself years ago I quickly found that products that are considered to be quality for grooming can be quite pricey. But these shears are on sale on amazon.com right now: Dog Grooming Scissors For The Dog & Cat Home Groomer (affiliate link – we may receive a small commission if you order through this link) for under $20! They also offer a 30-day hassle free money back guarantee (that I doubt you would need to use).

I trim up my dogs on a regular basis, particularly the fur between their pads. These would come in handy. Thanks!
We try to groom our pets and make sure their nails are always trimmed. We also take them to a groomer as well.
I used to hate trimming our Golden’s paws. We do sometimes trim the Chessies eyelashes and whiskers for the show ring and also we clean up their tails if they look scraggly.
I am on a new laptop. Will have to dig out passwords to complete the rest of the entries….lol.
Don’t you hate that? My laptop is wearing down too…but I dread switching to a new one!
These would be perfect for trimming the fur between Haley’s paw pads! They look really comfortable too.
I have issues with my hands…mild arthritis and trigger fingers. Even with all that these were comfortable to work with.
I have a pair of small grooming scissors with the rounded tip that I bought YEARS ago (when Kissy was young and I was grooming her myself). They still do a great job; but I found with Callie and Shadow that my rechargeable clippers work better and faster. Callie was always easy to do; but Shadow is “ticklish” at times. Tomorrow though her Auntie Andrea will be doing her grooming for me. ????
I always wanted to do all of their grooming myself. But the first time I tried using clippers with Sheba’s brother Moses, it was kind of a disaster. I had to hide him from the public for some time. LOL
Bless your heart! The ONLY thing I use those trimmers for are Shadows paws. If she needs anything else trimmed, I use my little scissors like yours. ????
Those things look like they work wonders

Yes, Mr. N needs his bangs and eye hair trimmed regularly!
Pierre could definitely use these. He tends to need a trim between grooming appointments!
These would be great for Nala, her pesky eyebrows are always getting in her way.
Because we live on a boat, we have to do our own grooming. But even when we lived on land, Honey had only been to a pro groomer twice.
I’m a terrible groomer. And once, I even neglected her paws so much she got a little mat between her toes. Bad dog person. Bad.
It amazes me that’s probably the one place Sheba never got a mat. But you should have seen behind her ears sometimes! Of course, that also had to do with a little brother who enjoyed chewing that area all the time. 🙂
These would be great for trimming around our eyes. We don’t get trimmed much otherwise, stripped instead. Boy, that sounds bad, but it is a grooming term.
LOL…I toyed with the idea of becoming a groomer for a while, and worked with a local lady to learn some things. So I am familiar with that term!
As it turns out, I’m far more comfortable writing than doing more than just basic grooming on my own dogs. 🙂
It is good to have pretty paws!!
These look great, I could really use these for Torrey since I groom her myself all the time.
You do a great job, because Torrey always looks gorgeous!
I think it is a perfect tool…. and I like that they have no spiky ends…. and that’s what we would need… not only the dog… just saying :o)
Ha ha, I know exactly what you are saying, Easy! 🙂
These sound like great clippers! I have quite the time clipping Koda’s nails, as they are just sooooo thick! I think these would go right through them though!
