A few weeks ago we entered a drawing for a gift box from Hill’s Ideal Balance. We actually entered on more than one blog, and much to my surprise we won on two of them! I never expected that! So I want to give a huge thanks to Pixel Blue Eyes and her Mom Jenny, as well as Kimberly from Keep the Tail Wagging. These are both great blogs, and I hope you’ll give them a visit if you aren’t familiar with them. Here’s what we won:
What a generous prize! There were actually 6 cans of food, all different flavors, but we couldn’t wait for photos before getting into those. Many thanks to Hill’s Ideal Balance also! We have been considering trying grain free food which was the main reason this interested us. We haven’t actually tried the dry food yet, but we have started adding the canned food to our dog’s current dry food and they are thrilled. Kobi was starting to get picky about eating, especially in the morning, and we were hoping this would help. It definitely did the trick! He was sleeping in most mornings, but now he is right up with the other dogs looking for his breakfast!

They didn’t get any food, but the cats didn’t want to be left out. So I put the blanket on Samantha’s favorite dining room chair:
I felt kind of greedy winning two of these prizes, so I am sharing the 2nd box with family and friends, and sending the blanket off to a Christmas drive that some pet pages on Facebook are having for a rescue in Texas. You can read about the drive in this Facebook post from Twinki Gurl.
Our Cat is Not Right:
For a cat that used to spend most of his time hiding, Conrad has matured into one entertaining old guy. Last week I burnt my bagel when toasting it, and had thrown it on the cooktop and forgotten about it. After feeding the cats lunch, I heard strange noises coming from the kitchen. Here’s what I went out to find:

Some of you may remember my recent post about the war between the beagles and Conrad for one certain bed. Conrad lost that first round to Kobi and then this week I posted this on Facebook:
Finally, last night, Conrad won!!
So excited that your pup is liking the food. One thing I found with our dogs is variety was key. I didn’t think we could do that, because everyone warns against it, but now our dogs enjoy turkey, chicken, duck and beef and they love that it’s shaken up 🙂
Thank you, Kimberly. We are also excited that Kobi is eating like normal again! I always thought variety was a no-no also, so it’s great to know it’s not. I really think Kobi was just bored with his food.

My hubby just couldn’t believe that Conrad was licking that burnt bagel! I had put a grilled cheese sandwich in a pan on the stove the other day (hadn’t turned it on yet) and left the room for a minute, and there he was eating the bread on that!

Us cats and dogs are always battling over something around here. Now Mom’s favorite thing is that Bert the cat and Bailie play lots of chase games, she doesn’t like this in the house, though. Bert is a house cat that is constantly trying to run away, so now she has trained Bailie to get him back. When Bert runs out, Mom says Bailie get that kitty! She races after him and tackles him like an NFL player…he begs for Mom to pick him up and bring him in. Finally a use for chasing cats!
Oh my gosh, Emma, that is too funny! Samantha likes to escape too, but I can’t ever get any of the dogs to bring her back….that would be great if they’d tackle her! 🙂
