The theme for this week’s #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge is “passion“.
What brings this look of passion to Cricket’s eyes?
Yes, of course…..
This week’s word immediately brought to mind two things: my own passion for my pets and my blog, and Cricket’s passion for playing ball. The latter seemed easier to illustrate in a photograph! It also got me thinking about both of us….I sometimes feel I’m a bit obsessed with my blog, and I often think that Cricket is obsessed with her balls! It turns out the fine line between passion and obsession is a philosophical question for the ages….google it and you’ll see!
Last week when things came up with the house, I ended up missing a day that I usually post on. That day seemed all screwed up and I was really out of sorts about it. I wonder if Cricket feels the same way on a rainy day when we don’t get to play ball? (Luckily we haven’t had a lot of those lately.)
In truth all three dogs love to play ball, but Sheba and Luke don’t focus on it quite as intensely as Cricket does. When Cricket is relentlessly pursuing the ball and returning it to me, or running along with her nose on the ground tracking where it’s been, Luke and Sheba might be chewing on sticks, digging holes, or just chasing each other.
Maybe this photo answers the question….passion or obsession? What do you think?

I think it’s a very fine line. LOL It’s probably just one post or ball throw.
Such a sweet face!!
That Cricket is a driven doggie. We have one or three of those here…lol.
yep, fine line is probably true-but nothing truer than how cute Cricket is with a ball!!
BOL both! Passion and obsession
Lily & Edward
That last photo is totally adorable!!! When we had 2 big dogs that lived here they totally loved their tennis balls.
Cricket is definitely passionate about her ball. Maybe borderline obssessive. 😉 Great pictures!
Aww what a cute photo! That’s true love! 😀
It is kind of fine line between passion and obsession. Great shots – the first two especially show lots of passion and maybe a little obsession, too.
Thank you!
I sometimes complain about it now, but when she gets too old to play ball, I am really going to miss it!
Cricket is so cute! I love her enthusiastic smile! I really wish my dogs had more toy drive! Phoenix does, but only when she wants to! LOL!
Trust me…be careful what you wish for! Cricket is not too bad now that she’s older, but when she was younger she sometimes drove us crazy over the ball. She would start first thing on a weekend morning whining and staring at where the balls are kept!
I once had our pet sitter call us to ask us how to get her to stop playing ball…LOL!
Great challenge photos and write up! I hear ya being all out of sorts when don’t get to do what you normally do.?
I sometimes think I’m worse than the dogs when it comes to disrupted routines! LOL
Obsessions are fine, as long as they’re not destructive. Great photo of Sheba, Luke, and Cricket all playing together.
Ah, I think you hit on the definition of the difference between passion and obsession, Raven!
I think most of our passions turn into obsessions. At least, they do around our home. Haha!
Haha, here too! We’re pretty much a household of OCD!
Very cute photos, she is a happy girl.
Gorgeous gorgeous photos!
Yes, she loves her ball!
that last picture is so darn cute! passion or obsession – she loves her ball
We are going to say passionately obsessed! Some dogs are a bit over the top with their ball playing, though.
That definitely describes Cricket! She has at least settled down a little now that she’s older, thank goodness.
maybe it’s an obse-passion? I hope for a lot of sunny days what are perfect for ball games :o)
