Many readers already know that we don’t travel with the dogs a lot. We are pretty much homebodies, and the rare vacations we take are usually without the dogs. The girls don’t care for riding, so most trips for them are short and to places to walk or swim nearby. However, near or far, we need to be sure our pets our safe when in our vehicles.

When we put our house on the market, we had to get the dogs out while having showings, so we were taking them for rides more often. Once we were under contract, we still had to get them out for inspections, etc. Since Luke enjoys riding, and goes more places, we had come up with ways to keep him safer first. We have a barrier that keeps him in the way back of the car when we take all three, and we would put the girls in the back seat with a hammock style seat cover to keep them safer.
The problem with that was that Cricket would not stay in the back seat. She wanted to get on the floor of the front seat which I was not happy about. Cricket is also at a disadvantage with her small size and two large siblings. She gets stepped on a lot. When we arrive at a destination in the car they all get rambunctious and that’s exactly what I was afraid would happen. She does not take it well when she gets stepped on, she gets MAD, and that’s not something we want to deal with in the small confines of a car.
When we got the opportunity to review another product for Solvit, I knew exactly what I wanted for her. We have their Deluxe XL Telescoping Ramp and love the quality of it. I selected their Deluxe Pet Safety Seat for Cricket to try. I felt like she wanted a secure little area where she could feel safe, and this provides just that. It gets her up away from Sheba and keeps her tethered in so she can’t wander. She can enjoy the view out the window if she wants, or she can curl up and comfortably go to sleep.
The seat integrates with the car’s safety belt keeping it securely in place, and then there is a tether that attaches to Cricket’s harness to keep her safely in the seat. The tether has been tested for safety up to 2,000+ pounds. When I took the below photos of Cricket a while ago, we had traveled up to our new home to take the dogs around the yard. The driveway was muddy and that seat got dirty! The good thing is that the covers and the pillow easily come out for washing. But I actually didn’t wash it before taking the photos for the demo of how it works, so the dirt actually pretty much just brushed off! The pillow is reversible as well.

This product comes with a Lifetime Warranty. It was easy to assemble with clear instructions, and easy to secure into the car. The only issue I had with it was that Cricket was still able to jump out of it when we arrived at our destinations. She just landed on the seat, however, and she still stayed securely tethered so we were safe opening the doors without worrying about her bolting. I just need to work with her more on her “stay” command when she’s excited!

My Pearl needs this! I just love it!
Thanks for the review! We entered to win the one you showed because it can hold a dog up to 35lbs. So far we’ve only seen the ones that don’t sit on the seat me and Taffy are both too heavy for those. So far we’ve only received a living room chair cover to try out from Solvit after Global but are going to try and get some other things. Love Dolly
This is made of very heavy duty plastic so it would work great for either of you. We love Solvit’s products – the quality is so good. Hope you are able to get some more goodies to try!
I’d go with the Ex Large Tagalong Booster Seat in brown. My own dogs are too big for these booster seats, but I drive a lot of rescue transports and love having one dog ride “shotgun”. This would help keep them safe and give them a better vantage for seeing out the window.
What a great use that would be for this! Good luck!
I just had to laugh when you said Cricket gets MAD, because I can picture it. Trixie gets MAD at Jack a lot. lol I would love to win one of these. Since I doubt I will, maybe I can borrow yours sometime to see how they each would do with it.
You definitely can borrow it to give it a try!
That’s pretty cool for smaller dogs.
Perfect for Layla – Deluxe Pet Safety Seat, Quilted Plaid
Good choice! I think Layla would look so cute in the seat, and she’d be so cozy too. Good luck!
Bowser would love the Deluxe Pet Safety Seat, Quilted Plaid 😉
I think that it is the prettiest one! Good luck to you and Bowser!
That looks like a great pet seat. Good luck to all who enter!
She looks like she likes it in there!! Cocoa does not love being harnessed in the car but she has to be safe!!
Ducky hovers between 24 and 26 lbs., so what the heck…maybe she’ll like the seat (if we win it). By the way, I don’t know if my “like” of WNWPets got counted as one of my bonus entries. Can you check for me? It said “You like WagnWoof Pets” but didn’t provide a submit button.
Hi Sue,
I didn’t realize Ducky was so small (it’s so hard to judge from photos online!). I think she might love the seat, so good luck! I cannot see where your like of WNWPets went through. I can see you on the Solvit one, but not ours. Can you try again and let me know? Thanks!
Ok, so this time I went straight to the “promo simple” link and it shows my FB like of you guys, but the total # of entries didn’t change. Am I missing something?
OK, I just checked again and this time I do see it in there, and I know it wasn’t there before. Maybe it was delayed or something. I think you are all set now.
That’s a great solution for Crickett, and it makes everyone safer and happy when no one is being stepped on.
Looks like it is just right for Cricket. We are all happy with our seat belts, although it sure looks cozy in that seat!
Cricket looks so cute in her car seat! What a neat product!
This looks terrific! The boys ride in their kennel in the back of our SUV. This is perfect for a one dog family…or buy two! LOL!
I think the seats would look cute side by side in the back seat! Now I need another small dog. 🙂
Oh boy do we need this!!!
Lily & Edward
I love it! and I wish it would exist for bigger doggies too (my dad said then we would need car seats as wide as sofas lol)
