Once again this year we will “shine a light on orphan pets waiting for forever homes.” September 28 is Remember Me Thursday, and everyone is encouraged to light up social media raising awareness of all the pets in shelters and rescues waiting for their forever homes. The goal is for everyone who uses social media that day to see a post about the importance of adopting pets.
Disclosure: We received the items seen here to help us spread the word about Remember Me Thursday, but were in no other way compensated. Wag ‘n Woof Pets only shares about products/events we feel will be of interest to our readers, and all opinions are our own.
The Helen Woodward Animal Center started this day five years ago, and invited us to help spread the word once again this year. We are happy to be part of a global movement uniting individuals and pet adoption organizations in being a voice for homeless pets. They kindly sent us a kit to help us with this task, and the photos below show the goodies that were included in our box!
We will use the signs and candle seen above to share our own rescued Labrador retriever mix, Luke, and we are both proud to be sporting the gear they sent us, that we are seen wearing below!
Everyone can help by posting photos and stories of their own adopted/rescued pet or pets on social media, and at the same time also nominate your favorite adoption organization to win prizes!
You can enter by posting a photo of your rescue pet to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #RememberMeThursday and #RemembertheRescue, or by uploading a photo of your rescue pet directly to the contest website. The contest runs from September 1st – 30th.
There will be three cash prizes ($5,000, $2,500, and $1,000) for shelters or rescues as well as 1,000 pounds of dog food and 100 toys from Kong to each winner!
We will be reminding you about #RememberMeThursday before it gets here, so you can participate in spreading the word by lighting up social media for homeless pets. We hope you’ll be joining us! Please visit the Remember Me Thursday website to learn more.
Great shout out!
wanted to reblog and share this on my blogs and LinkedIn but there was no way too. I think you have a good idea. Wish all those pets who need a forever home still good luck.
This special day always gets my whiskers a bit weepy wet.
I agree! If only they could all have homes. 🙁
I was thrilled to meet these fine folks at BlogPaws this year. I’m working on my own post as well!
I’m so glad you’re doing this too! Somehow I missed the chance to talk to them at BlogPaws – kicking myself for that.
We have participated each year and will again this y ear. We have our goodie box and will be posting about it soon.
I’m so glad there’s a good group of us joining in again!
You KNOW we will be participating!!! You did better than we did! I hate photos of myself so I didn’t put the T-shirt on for a photo (but I have worn it twice already!) and I didn’t get the bandana on Dakota (because Cody is the one blogging about it since Cody was adopted and Dakota wasn’t)………….hopefully I will get the bandana on Cody for another post!
such an idiot, forgot to say that I LOVE the photo of you BOTH wearing the items.
Thank you, Caren! I’m not thrilled with photos of myself either, but decided to take the plunge anyway. I got an even better one that I’ll be sharing on the day itself – such a sweet one of Luke, I can’t wait.
Cody will look so cute in the bandana!
Looking forward to participating with my own rescue, the ever-quixotic Elsa. LOVE the shirt and bandana!
We’re so glad you and Elsa will be participating! ♥
I love that photo of the two of you! The Boys and I will definitely remember. Too important not to! Thanks for writing this post.
Thank YOU!
I always wish I could own a huge plot of land and have a rescued pup home, where they could just run, play and be happy. We always want to save them all!
That’s what I plan to do when I win the lottery. LOL. Wouldn’t it truly be wonderful though? ♥
Being that Ducky is our rescue “baby”, we keep all orphan pets in our thoughts and prayers every day. I don’t know what that day will bring, but if I can, I will join the event.
Yes, it truly is important every single day. Hopefully you can Ducky can find time to join in. ♥
we will remember all our friends in need, oh yes :lo)
