I may be the littlest dog in this household (I weigh about 24 pounds), but I am still bigger than the cats! Hi, I am Cricket, and I am a beagle. I was born on September 1, 2004, in a big, warm barn where lotsa other beagles lived. I had two brothers there. My biological parents were hunting dogs. My new Mom & Dad visited me there a few times before they finally took me home with them. When I went on to lives with my new Mom and Dad, I did not have to be a hunting dog. My job is only to watch over my household with my siblings…barking and warning away intruders (then welcoming them if they are OK). That and giving everyone lots of loves. In my new home were lotsa cats and another bigger beagle named Kobi. Mom and Dad saids that Kobi was lonely after losing his sister Maggie and they had to search hard to find me to be his new sister. They had their hearts set on getting Kobi a Beagle sibling. They searched and searched on Petfinder, which was fairly new back then, but could not find one. Finally Daddy thought to ask a man that Mom used to work with, who had hunting dogs of his own, if he knew where they could find one. He did, and they found me just in time, because I was the only puppy available! Not long after I came home two other dogs started visiting, Moses and Sheba, and they cames to live with us too that Christmas. Kobi has never been lonely since!
My first baby pictures.

With my biological siblings!

By the way, when those Golden Retrievers came home, I was bigger than they were. I don’t know what happened after that. Maybe that’s why I still act like I am bigger than them sometimes.
Mommy says I could be a Gemini like her, because I kind of have a split personality. I can admit that sometimes I has a short temper. Sometimes my siblings just make me so mad! Then I forget how much bigger they are than me. They hog the toyz and the treats…I think….anyways, one time I got real mad becuz Moses was hogging the toy, and I accidentally bit my Mom. I felt real bad, but I didn’t mean to do it, she put her arm between me and Moses and I just wanted to bite him. Mom says that it’s a good thing my teeth are worn down from obsessively chewing on things, so I did not break her skin. But she hads a pretty bad bruise so I felt bad. So I tries really hard to not lose my temper now but if Mom sees me start to, she bangs two pans together and that loud noise scares me, so I stop and pull myself together!
Most of the time I just like to be loving and I like to give my Mom and Dad kisses and hugs and snuggies. They call it “the treatment” when I rub my head all over them and kiss them and stuff. Sometimes I do this to nice people, like my aunties, when they visit too. And sometimes I do the same thing to my ball. Yup, I love my ball the best of all my toys. I can just chase and chase and chase the ball. I am the captain of the ball team….and I has to do all the retrieving and bring the ball back to Mom or Dad, or whoever is visiting, to throw again. Moses and Sheba can catch it sometimes but they always give it to me to bring back!

Moms and Dads call me funny nicknames….Crickster, Jelly Bean, Cricker-Doodle (I think that is a cookie or something), Mommy calls me her little OCD dog, whatever that means, and Daddy calls me Cock-a-roach. Yeah, I don’t know why, humanz can be weird. I was actually named Cricket after another beagle my Dad’s father had when he was young. The original Cricket was a hunting dog, just like I could have been, if I wasn’t just a spoiled little Princess dog now! (Mom says that, not me)
OK, I love ball (did I say that already?) but I also loves stuffed toys and I sometimes play with the Frisbee too. I can catch it pretty good, even though Sheba might do a little better than me. I can jump too though….Mom calls me jumping bean when I jump at the door. I do that because I am so excited when they get home! Other than that I loves lots and lots of treats, cat food, and naps in front of the woodstove or in the sunshine. In the Winter I love to play ball in the snow! If I wake up in the morning and it snowed overnight I loves to do the zoomies in the snow! When it gets hot out, Mom and Dad fill our kiddie swimming pool and we get to swim to cool off while we play ball. I like to lay right down in the pool and cool off….my silly siblings just stand there and don’t know how to really cool off!
Mommy says I am a very happy girl, because my tail is always wagging. She’s right!

My brother’s family is getting a puppy that looks just like Luke and while I was here getting the link to send him … The Boy was watching so I introduced him to Cricket. MADE. HIS. NIGHT. I told him twenty stories of Cricket and her balls. Just wanted you to know we still remember and love her.

Thanks, K. I lost those photos of her and Sheba & Moses, all their puppy pictures for a while, and I was so upset! Then I finally ran across them when writing Moses’ blog, I was so relieved, and there were a lot of photos I had forgotten too.
