Sometimes I miss the old days of printing out photos and putting them in photo albums. Now I am so disorganized, I have photos in numerous files all over my computer. OK, the reality is, back in the old days I had photos in envelopes and boxes….and was always behind on putting them in the albums! At least I still knew where to find them all back then though.
My computer likes to mess with me (since I was pretty much forced to get Windows 10); and download my camera photos to different places without giving me a choice. I’ve used different photo file storage services, and I’ll keep using them until they want to charge me more money for more storage. Older photos are on an external hard drive, and I should probably just put all my photos there (but if that fails, then what?). Even those files are disorganized though.
Everything takes time and that includes getting organized. Yet, I also have to stop and consider how much time I spend looking for a photo I just KNOW I have – somewhere on my computer.
One good thing can come from this though. When my computer decided recently to download my photos differently again, I ran across some photos I hadn’t seen in a while. One of them sparked a memory of summers past, and I had seen a similar photo recently when looking for older photos of Sheba.

I’ve done some similar posts in the past where I compared Luke to our late golden retriever Moses. He often posed just as Moses did, especially with Sheba, and that makes me smile.

February is just ending, but with our snow furiously melting in the mild temperatures, why wouldn’t these photos cause me to start dreaming of summer?

One thing that never seems to change is that Cricket is the one delivering the ball to me. I tried to find a recent photo with Luke in it that mirrored this one more closely, but couldn’t find one.

There’s probably one on my computer somewhere. Perhaps I’ll run into it sometime when my computer decides to once again take me someplace where we’ve secretly stored some photos I completely forgot about. 🙂
Those are great photos. It is nice seeing green grass.
We have that same lament about photo storage. With a Mac, an iPhone and an iPad i think every device has a different set of pics on it. Ugh. While I like how I can tag them all to find them reasonably quickly, it’s still an exercise in spending loads of time organizing them in the first place. Something I seem to have little extra of these days. *Sigh*
Good luck finding more smiles. Before you know it, you’ll be mowing the lawn again. ????
Loads of time? Yes, what the heck is that? LOL We don’t have a lot of it…but it sure does go by fast, so you’re right. We’ll be mowing the lawn before we know it!
Those were great memories glad you came across them. I too was just thinking how in organized my photos are when I was looking for my spay photos of Nellie, I found them in glorys folder. When you find a good system let me know 🙂
I’m glad it’s not just me! I will do so, and you do the same if you find one first. 🙂
Sorting out our digital photos is on our list of things to do. It’s difficult to know where to begin! It is frustrating to look for a photo when in a hurry, but it’s fun when time isn’t pressing.
Those are some great memories. And it makes us all warm…we can almost feel the sun.
The sun is getting warmer now and the days are getting longer….summer is coming! 🙂
We recently went through 37 years of photos and shredded doubles as well as the ones we didn’t want. You know the blurry ones that you still had to pay for? LOL! Plus, the 9 gazillion left over school photos. It took us several days and nights but we are finally organized.
Good for you! I did go through some of the old photos and albums before we moved. I had planned to go through every album, but never got that far before I lost interest. LOL
I find it weird sometimes that I no longer print out photos or have photo albums… The last photo album I put together was probably around 2006ish when my oldest daughter was 2 years old. It’s fun to look at older pictures, especially bright summer photos!
It definitely cheers me up on a dreary winter’s day!
Mom totally agrees. What happened to the fun of photo albums. Mom pressed a button on the computer (she is computer savvy) and it copied over 1000 pictures in different files. Oye vey!
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
LOL….I have duplicate photos all over the place, and don’t even know how it happened!
Mom has our photos on the computer, on an external drive, and in the cloud. She loves to find old ones she forgot all about! With Windows 10, you can download them to anyplace you want to. We do. When you start the download process, you need to choose the right app, or download to pc. Works for us as we never like to put them where Microsoft wants them 🙂
I was so annoyed when it kept downloading all the photos to the same file, and mixing them all up together from different dates. Then it stopped doing that and sent them to DropBox (I tried changing things in the settings but it didn’t work!). Today when I downloaded some it went back to the other way!
Sometimes it gives me the option to choose, and sometimes it doesn’t. Ugh. I really hate Windows and Microsoft! (at least my phone photos all go to the same place)
It is fun when you find the unexpected bonus memories!
What special memories! I too have photos in about 27 different places on my computer because I never seem to have time to organize. It does make it hard to find things!
I’m so glad it’s not just me. It can get so frustrating looking for that photo you know you have….somewhere…and you can’t find it! For a while I had lost all of the photos from when Sheba, Moses, and Cricket were puppies. Then one day I accidentally found them on that external hard drive – buried two folders in! I do remember where they are now though!
You’re not alone my friend! I see “da Phenny”s mom also stores photos in envelopes and boxes. So do I. But I also have digital photos all over the place…in storage websites, still on memory cards, in my phone and iPad, on my Google Chromebook. You name it.
I love the photo of Sheba and Moses – they remind me so much of Callie and Shadow together back then! But I love the other photos too. Especially the one of Cricket diving OUT OF the pool with the ball in her mouth while Luke and Sheba watch her in amusement, and maybe amazement as well. ❤❤
PS. Thankfully, I haven’t had to downgrade to Windows 10 (from 7) yet. I dread that day!
Ha ha, I love how you said “downgrade”. Don’t ever do it if you don’t have to. I just got so sick of them asking me, I gave in, and now I regret it. Every time it wants to install updates, it freezes my computer up!
I’m so glad it’s not just me with photos stored everywhere! I think Luke and Sheba were amazed by Cricket. They must wonder “where does she get all that energy?” LOL.
I have a great photo-mess everywhere… for me it was better to have them in envelopes and boxes LOL Your photos are great and specially the last one is like a daydream of summer, I can hear the splish splash and the barking… and there is the smell of a fresh mowed lawn … and the smell of bbq…
With that picture you just painted, now I am really longing for summer! 🙂
