We seem to have a rodent problem in our new home. I have walked into the living room and seen this hanging out on our couch:
I’ve seen them in the bathroom as well! Where are they coming from?
Apparently, they have a home right here in our house!
Luckily we have three rodent chasers here (we don’t count our cat Samantha because she’s too lazy to chase anything!).
The tree can be taken down and the little critters pulled right out. They don’t stand a chance.
This fun puzzle toy is called the Hide-A-Squirrel and is made by Outward Hound. However, we have looked closely at these furry critters and they look much more like chipmunks than squirrels to us!

I thought since the crew loves pulling stuffing out of toys that they might have fun pulling the little chippies out of this, and sure enough they do. Each little chippie has a squeaker inside it, so we have to monitor play; but it’s actually a good size squeaker so I don’t feel like it’s as much of a choking or swallowing danger (but we still take it away to be safe).

You can find this fun toy for your dog on amazon by clicking here. We got the “ginormous” size which comes with 6 chipmunks. We were not compensated for sharing this toy, we just wanted to because it’s fun! However, that link is an affiliate link so if you purchase through it we we will receive a small commission (and it’s always appreciated).

Do you think your dog or dogs might have some fun with this toy?
he he he glad they weren’t the real deal
Harley had a smaller version of that same toy when he was a puppy, he loved it. But we also found those little critters all over the place from time to time.
We have chipmunks in our yard and boy does Delilah go nuts for them. I have no idea what she’d do with this tree! But I like the idea of them ‘destuffing’ the tree as opposed to a toy.
That looks like a fun toy which I am sure brown dawgs would destroy in no time!
It’s actually lived longer around here than I thought it would! They tore the tree apart a little, but so far I think only one little chippie has been “taken care of”. 🙂
We love Outward Hound but haven’t seen that one! It looks like great fun. I have a review of some of their toys coming up soon too! Love Dolly
We’ll be watching for those reviews, Dolly, we’d like to try some of their other toys too!
Before I followed the link from the email to the actual post, I thought “oh no! Just what they need!”???? But then when I saw the pix, I cracked up! Those little critters are too cute!! I’ve seen the toy before. Callie had a similar toy when she was a puppy – before Shadow joined our little family – and she and I played with it every night. It’s tucked away in her toy box now, like most of her stuffed toys.
Aw how cute! Shiner would like it, but I imagine that she’d try to just rip the tree apart to get the chipmunks out lol.
This is an awesome toy!! Cocoa loves pulling the stuffing out so this might be fun!!
I have seen that toy before and love it!! If Dakota didn’t have so darned many toys, I would get it for him
Luke says there’s no such thing as too many toys. He’d be happy to get a new one every day! LOL
We’re cats and we think we would have fun with this toy!
LOL! Too funny! They look like they’re having a blast rounding up the chipmunks! 😀
That looks like fun! I bought Paisley a bee hive that was similar to this one when she was a puppy.
So cute! They look a little small for my crew, but they’d have loved this when they were puppies.
LOL! Hailey would totally kill these. We have never tried this type of toy. I think they would like it though!
Way to go! That does look like fun…………I see one of the chipmunks has already been de-stuffed!
Hugs, Sammy
We have the smaller version of it and Bailie loved it as a puppy. We also agree they are chippers and not really squirrels, but we don’t care. Both critters are fun to chase.
My dogs love pulling eggs out of a platypus so i’m sure they would love this.
Those puzzle toys are our favorite. We have tree rats and bees
Snorts,
Lily & Edward
Oh I love it! You know i’m always on the lookout for toys for my beagles. I need to add something to my rejenease order for free shipping, now I know what it will be. Thanks for sharing!
Oh my, that is the cutest thing, and you did the cutest post with it, Jan, getting the pics of those critters all over the house-cracked me up! SO cute, I just love it for that reason! Yay, Karen is going to get one, now Trixie, Susie and Jack can enjoy the fun that Sheba, Cricket and Luke had!! Whoo-hoo! Love chippies!
Oh I loved that game…. you furst have to eat that tree-thingy so they have no place to hide… then you can eat the critters one by one… :o)
Sounds like a good plan! 🙂
Looks like they’re having a blast! Barley has a small long that has a couple little beavers in it that she really enjoys (and is probably in the bottom of her bin, so if I can find it, it would be like having a new toy it’s been so long since we’ve seen it!) and her aunt got her a gingerbread house with little gingerbread people for Christmas. Usually she ends up playing with the “house” instead of the little critters, though!
They did do a little “de-construction” on the house part and I see them carrying it around some. But they do seem to prefer the little chipmunks themselves. I’ll have to look for more toys like this!
