Many thanks to our blog hop hosts Two Brown Dawgs and Ruckus the Eskie. This is the hop that’s “a little of this, a little of that, and everything in between“.

This book is the story of Emma the GBGV (Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen). Emma tells you all about her breed and her life from her birth in England to her current home in Minnesota. Emma is a well traveled dog and she has many talents and jobs.
Emma excelled at puppy school and from there has gone on to become a model, a chef, a nurse, and she even runs her own Bed & Breakfast. On the side she conducts interviews with the other animals in her life, including her sister Katie, and her cat siblings Bert and Sophie.
This book is completely enjoyable. Whether you know Emma from her blog My GBGV Life, or you have yet to meet her, she will entertain you with her stories, and the accompanying photos. Instead of chapters, the book is broken down into 38 Tales. I can’t wait for my grandson to get a little older so I can get him this book. It’s not just for children though, it is a book for anyone that loves dogs. One recommendation: I ordered the Kindle version, but I will get the paperback version for my grandson. I think it will make a better keepsake with the wonderful photos that way. Click on the photo above to take you to amazon where you can order either version.
Next up on my reading list:
The author of this book generously gave me a copy to review, and I need to get on it! I am looking forward to reading it. The title tells it all. If we need to lose weight, or as we’re getting older just work at maintaining it, what better way to do it than with our dogs? If you don’t want to wait for my review, then click on the book and order your own copy now!
You also might want to visit Peggy’s blog at Peggy’s Pet Place, where you can learn more about her and her dogs Kelly and Ike.
Swami Zoe also very nicely sent me her book to review. I’ve flipped through it and this is going to be a great book for my grandson also. He has a cat and his Mom does yoga so I know he’ll love it. I’ll give a full review once I’ve really sat down and read it. Click on the book to order, or you can also visit Swami Zoe’s blog. Zoe is sister to Ku of Haiku by Ku blog fame, who some of you might know. I reviewed Ku’s book a little while back.
One last thing on books: in case you missed it, you can win a copy of Chaser the Dog Who Knows 1000 words by visiting my post from yesterday.
PUPPY FEVER!
I thought we had settled into being a 3 dog household after losing our golden retriever, Moses, to cancer last summer. Turns out I was wrong. When some puppies first came to my attention because some of them were born on a very special date to us, I took it as a sign. I thought my hubby would shoot the idea down immediately, but as it turns out, he wants another dog, and I was the one that was on the fence about it for a while. I fell off. One of these puppies will be coming home with us near the holidays. I’m still not sure if we are crazy or not, though I’m pretty sure we are. I blame Emma, the abovementioned author because she recently got a puppy sibling, and Dogs N Pawz who also added an adorable puppy to their crew. I tried to resist! Yes, I have thrown both of you under the bus. 🙂
I will be telling the whole story of how this all came about in a future post, it’s a long story of course. We haven’t selected a particular puppy yet either, but it will be one from one of the two litters pictured above, who are currently with Peace & Paws Dog Rescue in foster care. It’s been 9 years since we’ve had a puppy, so if anyone has any suggestions for good reading material on raising a puppy, online or print, please let me know! It’s too late to save us from this foolishness, so don’t even try. 🙂
We won Emma’s book and it’s fantastix. Have a super week xxooxxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Oh you were lucky to win it, and glad you enjoyed it too!
xxoo
Adorable puppies!
Thank you for mentioning my book today. I’m honored to be in such great company along with Emma’s super adorable book!
You are welcome, Peggy! I’ve started your book now and I’m already picking up some great hints from it. I think it is going to inspire me to get in better shape myself. The dogs aren’t too bad, but I need some work! 🙂
I’m so excited for you! A puppy in the house is awesome! Diesel has been so much fun and has helped ease the pain of losing Phe. When we first got Diesel we took him out to potty about every 30 minutes until he learned to do his business outside. It didn’t take long to get him potty trained. He has special chew bones and really hasn’t chewed anything up. He chews on his bones instead. You will love having a puppy. Can’t wait to see puppy pictures!!!!!
Thank you!! I’m so glad to hear your enthusiasm, since you’ve just been through it all! I hope things will go as smoothly for us as they have for you with Diesel. 🙂
How very exciting for you. You can never have too many dogs (unless your a horder, lol). Can’t wait for puppy pictures and stories. Thanks for the shout out on the books. I have Emma’s but need to find a moment to read it and will check out the others.
So true….what’s one more dog when you already have 3? I can’t wait to tell more about this little guy once we figure out which little guy we’ll be getting!
Enjoy your reading…I know it’s so difficult to find time for it!
Oh boy! Can’t wait to hear more about the puppy! Yes, pups are a lot of work, but think of all the blog fodder that pup will provide!! 😉
I will probably become a more regular contributor to the Monday Mischief blog hop!
Hard to resist! Such cuties they are!
That’s for sure!
Your grandson will be one lucky boy to get nice dog books from his grandma. How could he help but grow into a dog lover!
And a puppy?!!! After raising Honey the shark, I said never again to puppies. Just to end up fostering 3 in a row! 🙂
The best puppy books ever are by Ian Dunbar. You can download them for free but I bought them to have as references: http://www.dogstardaily.com/free-downloads. Dunbar’s advice on socialization and teaching bite inhibition were spot on.
What a nice thing to say, Pamela, and we certainly are trying hard to make William into a dog lover!
I think I said the same thing about puppies at some point! Thank you so much for the book recommendation and the link, I will definitely be getting those. We’ve got about a month to get ready, so I need to get studying! 🙂
Thanks for joining TNT. Woohoo puppy pictures. I can’t wait to meet your new addition!
Thanks, it’s going to be fun!
Thanks for linking up to This ‘N That Thursday blog hop this week! Sounds like you’re going to be curled up this winter with some good books. Please keep us posted about them! Spoiler alerts too please!
One of the things I love about winter is that it’s a good excuse to just curl up in front of the fire with a good book!
Hi there, I love your blog! I found you on this n that Thursday blog hop! Hop on by mine if you get a chance!

Thank you, and thank you so much for coming by!
OMD.. a puppy!? Oh they are all so cute!
I know, right? How will we ever choose? 🙂
You are far braver than I. Can’t say I’ll ever do better than to adopt grown dogs. Listen to Emma, though!
I will take Emma’s advice. I wasn’t sure I ever wanted to do the puppy thing again, but we just think a puppy will be easier for the other dogs to adjust to. Cricket can be kind of bossy so we figure a puppy will accept that better!
Wow – what fun, a new puppy. Wish I had the courage! It’s been so long since we had a puppy (18 years) that I don’t have any advice, but will think about it and be on the lookout. We can’t wait to hear all about it.
Thanks! Last time we had a puppy, we actually had 3 at the same time! Yikes, I think we were crazy then and we would not do that again! One will be plenty!
Ma says “Oh.My.Dog. Those puppies are adorable!”. I agree, they are cute. I cannot wait to see who you pick from all those puppies! Love your reading list…some great authors on there!
*high paws*
Oz
Thanks, Oz! We are having such a hard time choosing a puppy…they are all just too cute! We at least know we want a male so that narrowed it down a little bit!
Squeeeee…..puppies!! I love puppies, but I don’t want to do that again! LOL You are BRAVE.
Well, you know, brave, or stupid, I’m not sure which! LOL
Some of those we know, some we better check out. Thanks for the great reviews!!
You’re welcome! I’m glad if my reviews help you find something good to read!
Wow, what a post! Thank you so much for the kind words about my book and mentioning Bailie. It was almost seven years since I was a pup, so things kind of got turned upside down at our place, but all in all aside from the hassle of potty training, it has gone really well. Bailie has learned so much from Katie and I and is a super mellow pup. Elk antlers have saved us from teething issues, they are a miracle cure. Day one Bailie went for Mom’s shoes and she immediately got an antler. Mom did this every time Bailie started to chew and after a couple weeks, Bailie learned to always get an antler when she wanted to chew. We have several around the house so no one has to fight over them. Congratulations on deciding to get a new little one.
You are very welcome, Emma! I’m glad to hear things have gone well with adding Bailie to your household. Thanks so much for the tip on the antlers. Sometimes our dogs have fought over things in the past, but I think if we have a few around like you said no one will have to. We will definitely give them a try!
