On last Sunday I posted this photo and asked my readers if they had a guess as to who won the standoff for this bed:
Well, the votes were almost 3 to 1 in favor of Conrad the cat winning the standoff. A few voted for Kobi, but only one person completely hit the nail on the head….Jackie from Pooch Smooches, who said “I would normally say that the cat would win – but I know how stubborn beagles can be, so I’m going to go with the beagle!” Yes, Jackie, exactly…..Kobi would not move, and Conrad gave up and left first. Of course, he probably headed to the kitchen hoping he’d have some better luck there and get fed. That’s his other favorite thing to do other than sleeping.
My hubby told me that not long after Conrad gave up, Kobi got up and left. 🙂
Today, like most days, all is back to normal and they are both in their normal sleeping spots….Conrad in “his” bed, and Kobi under my desk.
Just to prove that the dogs and cats can co-exist peacefully and share:
If you enjoy reading, I hope you got a chance to look at my book reviews this week. They are both must reads for dog lovers!
This is a wonderful novel about a woman going through a difficult time in her life, who picks up a stray dog who helps her through this rough time. Read more here.
This is a true story of an amazingly smart Border Collie. Read more here.
There will be a #BlogPaws Twitter chat on October 22nd and if you join in you will have a chance to win a copy of this book. #Chaser1000. Watch my Facebook and Twitter for reminders and more details.
We also received this Frisbee for participating in the campaign to promote Chaser’s book. I put it in our toy box, and Sheba fished it out to play with it the other night. Now I just need to teach her the name “Frisbee”, or maybe we’ll just name it “Chaser”!
We are joining the Follow Up Friday blog hop this week, a hop that wraps up your week and leads into the weekend. Thank you to our hosts: Heart Like a Dog and 2 Brown Dawgs Blog.
LOL good job Kobi buddy!
the brown dawgs
PS our kitty would probably just lay on top of us. 🙂
Thanks! Lucky for me Conrad is just a bit afraid of us dogs!
Love, Kobi
Well done, Kobi! The cats often take my bed, but I don’t mind because I hardly ever use my bed – I like the floor!
Kobi likes the floor sometimes too, especially in the summer when it’s hot. Our golden Sheba almost never lays in a bed either.
We think Conrad didn’t give up, he just decided he really didn’t want to sleep in the bed. 🙂
Ha ha, I absolutely think you could be right!
I’m behind on my blog reading, but I would definitely have guessed the cat! LOL! Good for Kobi not giving in – this time. 🙂
Yes, who knows how many times it ends up the other way around!
Yah! I was right! I love to be right! 🙂
I am so not surprised that the beag got up and walked away once the cat was no longer interested. I always said our beagle was a “cat in a beagle suit.” Maybe Kobi is too?
Thanks again for the lovely review!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Ha ha, that is a great one, Jackie! Oh yes, that is definitely Kobi. He and Cricket as well both have the same independent/stubborn streak and attitude that the cats have!
You’re welcome…loved the book so glad to share that with everyone!
Once upon a time we had dogs and cats who will snuggle together. Not anymore. LOVE the flying disk!
Now if we can just keep Sheba from chewing that disk apart! So far she only put a slight tear in it, which is good for her.
Awesome follow-up! Thanks for joining the blog hop.
Isn’t it funny how one pet covets another’s spot. Delilah will stand and bark at Sampson if he is in her spot on the bed. LOL
Loved Jackie’s last book, it was awesome!!
Have a great weekend.
Thank you, Jodi! Thanks for having the hop, it really is a great way to tie up loose ends from the week.
You should see the three dogs on our bed sometimes….they are all piled in one spot on top of each other, almost like they all wanted that spot and no one is going to give it up!
Great follow up! I grew up with a Beagle, so not surprised 🙂
I often say that Beagles and cats have a lot in common…it’s that independence I think.
On the whole Alfie and Mollie get on really well, when Mollie was sick the other day, Alfie got in her bed with her.. Now that was so sweet 🙂 xxooxx
Mollie and Alfie
Oh, that is so sweet!! I think deep down they love each other, they just don’t want to let on. 🙂
We have those standoffs all the time. Sometimes we share, Bailie and Bert fight, real punching, knock down, drag our fights. Me, I just sit on the cat if I want his spot and he leaves in a mad fit. Good for the Beagle. It is not how long you stay on the spot you win, it is the win that counts. TGIF!
LOL. I’m pretty sure Kobi shares that attitude with you, Emma! Sheba only has to enter a room and our other cat Samantha clears out. So I think it must be a look she gives her or something!
I aspire to have that peaceful coexistence! Thank you for the inspiration! 🙂
You’ll get there, Maggie!
