Our golden retriever Sheba was thrilled to be able to spend the first day of fall swimming!
Summer weather lingered right up through that day, but the fall weather arrived over the weekend, and we’re expecting our first frost tonight.

Who knows, maybe we’ll get some Indian summer weather and Sheba will be seen swimming with the mountains behind her washed in the oranges, reds, and yellows of autumn. She’s hoping!
Has autumn arrived where you are yet?
I bet Sheba will get more swimming in this year. Our temps have gone up and down. Hopefully we will finally get to our cabin this weekend. We have not been able to go since Labor Day. I would feel batter if I could get the heat turned on in case of a cold snap. You never know this time of year.
We’ve already had our wood stove going here, but hubby is a pyro and can’t wait every year…LOL. The weather has definitely been up and down! Hope you can get to your cabin for some R&R!
What a great swim!
The humidity held on way too long here, but it’s finally cooler and we’re getting some much needed rain. Great seeing Sheba enjoying a last summer swim. Love Dolly
We were up north at camp all weekend. It was chilly, but no frost yet. The leaves are starting to turn too. Sheba looks pretty happy with her swimming.
She is happy swimming, but she’s happy about the cooler weather we’re getting now too. She loves to lie outside on the patio when it’s nice and cool!
It is supposed to drop into the 80’s after a rain today so yeah, that’s fall on the bayou. BOL!!
awesome-it was so nice to not feel like fall on the first day-not ready for it, WAY too cool this weekend-hoping for that Indian Summer so Sheba can swim again, for sure!
I don’t know, Lynn, it’s not looking too good for it right now, is it? 🙂
That looks like so much fun! I just got back from my get-away in VA and the weather here in Charleston is still rather warm. Will try to take Jaxson to the beach sometime this week. Sheba looks wonderful!
Sheba sure enjoyed her swim time. What a beautiful day!
We still got summer here! Swimming would sure be fun if it wasn’t for all that water!
We had frost this morning, so I think autumn has arrived.
We didn’t get too much of a frost. I think it maybe hit 32 degrees F for just a couple of minutes or something! 🙂
PS. Still hot and humid here during the day, but thankfully not as bad in the morning and evening. Would be perfect if the $@*^ bugs would go back to their winter homes underground!
I can never wait for that first hard frost that kills the bugs off, or sends them into hibernation or whatever it is they do!
She’s serious about that ball…and swimming out to get it. ???? But she’s so photogenic that it’s hard not to stop to take pix. Just like Callie and Shadow were/are. (Ducky moves too fast to get a decent still shot. ????)
She gets me back by not bringing me the ball when she gets out. She’ll walk right by me, then she’ll drop it on the ground and shake off when I lean over to get it. LOL
That’s too funny! Shadow likes to go right past me with the ball, too.
Love seeing Sheba swimming like that! Our weather yesterday and today is completely glorious! Took a long walk yesterday…..tomorrow storms but it is cooling down! YES!!
I’m always surprised by how many people are so happy to see fall arrive – no one seems to like the heat any more! Maybe if you are a person that likes the heat, you head down south. 🙂
I’m happy to report that autumn has finally arrived here this weekend too. We woke up to 52 degrees this morning and I’m thrilled to have windows open all day long. All week is supposed to go no higher than 72. WOOT!! 😀
Sheba looks so happy – these are such beautiful photos.
Thank you! She is definitely a happy girl, it’s so wonderful to see it these days. Our weather has cooled off so much, we’ve had to keep the windows closed some days! 🙂
Beautifully young at heart 🙂
We are hoping for Indian summer here in northern Indiana. Schooner and Skipper love to swim. We go to Lake Michigan for them to run the beach and swim. In the fall the kids are back to school and they have the beach to themselves during the week.
It is nice to have that warm fall weather after the kids go back to school…we enjoy having our little beach to ourselves too!
It’s arriving slowly, but surely. Sheba looks so happy on her swim!
yes, momz throw the ball for this cute wet beach girl…. it’s amazing, I can’t remember such a september (that rhymes wow!) it’s still like august here hot and far away from fall… hard to believe that we have christmas in 3 month…
It is really feeling like fall here now, though we didn’t get much of a frost. It’s not unusual for us to get some warm spells through September, though not so much in October. The days seem to be getting so much shorter, it doesn’t warm up as quickly any more, even though the sun does still have warmth to it!
