The only time I see the two cats together is when they are lying by the woodstove, and usually that is only in the middle of the night when I’m not awake enough to grab a camera. So I was thrilled to get this shot before either one moved (and in spite of the dogs’ best efforts to photobomb).
This week’s theme for the #52Snapshots of Life is “Love” and I often wonder if these two love each other, considering how little time they spend together. Whether or not they do, I sure love this photo!
*Photography note: it was fairly dark in the house even with the lights I put on. I didn’t have time to get a tripod, so I used a trick I read recently (sorry I don’t remember where I read it)….I put a piece of tissue paper over my flash to dull the brightness of it. I thought that worked pretty well here!
Thank you to The Lazy Pit Bull for hosting the #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge. Are you joining in the fun? Photos can be shared via blog or social media, just use the hashtags #52Snapshots and #PBSG. The hop opens on Friday and we’ll join up then.
Thank you to BlogPaws for hosting the Wordless Wednesday blog hop!
Such a sweet a sneaky love they have for each other!
They’re probably not happy they’re splashed all over the internet now, then. LOL
Your flash trick seems to have worked because you got a really nice photo out of it. Thanks for the tip, I’ll try to remember it!
Thank you! One other time I tried it, it didn’t seem to work as well, so it might depend on the existing light as well.
That’s a great trick about the tisue paper. TW used her finger once and we got a cool red tint over the pic. Body heat is the great equalizer.
Ha ha, maybe I’ll have to try that effect too!
Adorable. I guess they are trying to stay warm.
You are so right….that’s pretty challenging around here this winter! 🙂
They are probably secret pals who get together when you’re not watching. You know,,,,gotta keep that “aloof” attitude front and center for human eyes.
Cats are sneaky like that, aren’t they? Maybe we should set up a game camera aimed at the wood stove at night….LOL!
Very cute 🙂 funny cats are less pack creatures than dos and we always are amazed when they ‘seem ‘ distant from each other ..great shot as I know what it is like when you get that chance 🙂 another tip is if you check your camera you may find in flash settings the option for half quarter etc in the amount of flash 🙂 down to very little..may be handy if the cats eat the tissue paper 🙂 loves Bev xx
Thanks for the bonus tip, Bev! I’m not sure if my camera has that setting or not, but I’m going to look. I’ve been trying to learn more about it lately, but keep getting sidetracked. 🙂
Conrad was much closer with our other cat Katie, and I have some great shots of those two together. I think it’s Sam that’s been more of the loner, so it’s nice to see her with her brother this way. 🙂 xxoo
I’m glad you were able to capture the moment.
And that’s a great tip on how to tone down the flash.
Thank you on both counts! 🙂
Great picture! The kitties probably love each other like siblings who tolerate each other in public but would be the first ones to help or defend each other. 🙂
Thank you, and yes, I think you have the right idea there!
OH, Jan, and I LOVE this photo indeed! Actually almost brought tears to my eyes, cause you know how much I love your kitties, and do they look like they love each other?? Oh yeah!! Hidin it for sure on a normal basis maybe, as others have commented, but this is just too precious-that is Love! And your photography? Just great! And of course you added the little hearts to pull at my heartstrings more! Great photography tip too on how you got it to come out extra good, thanks!
Thanks so much, Lynn! I’m so glad you enjoyed it too. <3
Very cute photo! I have a hard time getting photos of my cats together too. Out of the thousands that I have, only 1 or 2 are of them cuddling. You photo turned out great 🙂
Honestly, I think I barely even have any photos of these two in the same shot, never mind snuggling!
That’s a sweet picture. We’re glad you got it.
Thank you, me too!
They certainly do look comfortable together!
They probably do that every night when we’re in bed!
How sweet. And good timing! They usually move before you can get a shot.
I was amazed that they didn’t move, I actually got off a few shots!
Thanks for sharing that photography trick, we’ll have to try it out too. The photo is so precious!
Thank you! I’m happy to share the trick, hope it works for you too.
Cool camera trick idea! I’m sure the cats love each other. They just can’t act like they do, it’s a cat thing. ☺
Ha ha, I think you’re right….they can’t break the code of cat conduct or something!
Great photo I am sure there is some sort of kitty bond between them! Thanks for the flash tip, mom never uses a flash but she might just try that! Love Dolly
Thanks, Dolly! I think it reduces the flash enough to add some light without washing out the photo.
they should write a song about kittie love too… maybe we can share the puppy-love song with the feline world?
easy
I think that would be nice, Easy!
This is adorable!
Thank you!!
They secretly do like each other I guess. Good catch!
Thanks! It does appear that they do (though I don’t know…Sam might just be tolerating it. It’s hard to tell because she always scowls when I get the camera out…LOL)
Awww, looks like you are keeping each other warm! Happy WW!
Not an easy task this winter! LOL
They look cute like that! I’ve never heard of putting tissue over the flash – I’ll try that!
Thanks! I wish I could remember where I read the trick, because I wanted to give credit if it was another blogger. I clearly read too much!
If this photo doesn’t give you a warm and fuzzy feeling – I don’t know what will!
It definitely does the trick, doesn’t it? 🙂
Ah yes, love is in the air! *wags* – Gilligan from WagsAhoy.com
They knew Valentine’s Day was coming, right?
They are so cute. I think they love each other.
Thanks, and I think you’re right! 🙂
Awww what a great photo! I love it!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Thank you, Jenna!
Good trick – love the photo of the kitties too.
Thanks. I think I tried it once before and it didn’t work as well, but I’ll definitely be trying it again.
so incredibly sweet!
Thank you!! I thought so too.
Great picture! And what a great tip, I think the picture turned out great, so would that reduce or take away red eye since your picture doesn’t have any red eye and taken in the low light?
Thanks! I’m not sure about the red eye, though I noticed I didn’t have any in the few photos that I took, but they weren’t looking right at the camera either. It reduces the glare so that the flash doesn’t wash out the photo so much. I’ll have to try it some more and see if it does also get rid of the red eye and glowing eyes.
That is so cute all cuddled up together xxoxxx
Mollie and Alfie
Thanks, you two!! xxoo
