Mother Nature has finally graced us with some summer weather. I know many of you are sweltering now, but we get such a short summer here I like to have some heat for at least part of it! One thing I love about the heat is that it gets me up and going earlier in the morning. I think that morning is the most beautiful and peaceful time of day, and this morning Cricket and I were walking early. I was looking for a photo opportunity for this week’s #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge – the theme is “Nature“. We walked up our street which we haven’t done for a while. There’s more traffic than there used to be on our street, but if we time it right, it can be pretty quiet.
The mountain in this photo is Mount Cardigan, which overlooks most of our town, and is a popular place to hike, with wonderful views. I was trying to capture the dew on the grass, I’m not sure I accomplished that, but I loved the way the sun was beaming in.
I did edit this photo a bit in Photoshop. I sharpened it as well as increasing the contrast and the saturation. I wanted to bring out the blue of the sky a bit more (my cell phone, which is what I took this with, does not capture colors very well). How did I do?

You did great with the Photoshop, it’s a wonderful photo and perfect for “Nature”. Glad you are getting some summer there!
Very nice!
Beautiful picture!
Jan, what a great shot! Love how you captured the sunbeam, so cool. The mountain is gorgeous! Happy Sunday to you and Cricket!
The sunbeam looks really cool!
That’s a gorgeous photo. I love the early morning, but it’s extra special when it’s going to be hot later in the day.
it#s a super great photo… I bet it’s a sign that you can find a treasure there… maybe all that dew drops are diamonds?
What a great photo. I think everyone around the country is getting their fair share of summer – some more than others. Tomorrow they’re predicting well over 100 degrees. So we will be staying in.
This is beautiful! I can’t believe this came from a cell phone! How about we go on some hikes there sometime, looks gorgeous!
There’s no shortage of beautiful places to hike here, so come on over! 🙂
A lovely photo! (Is it too much to ask to have the weather match the season on the calendar? Sometimes it seems to be! Reminds me of our ridiculously hot winter.)
Thank you! I know, that’s really all I’m asking….is that the weather be seasonable! I love fall, but part of the reason I love it is because the cooler air feels so great after getting through a hot summer!
That’s a beautiful picture…really captures the essence of summer.
Pretty and relaxing nature photo.
It’s a lovely picture and fits the subject perfectly! But where’s the dogs? Glad you are getting some warm weather, we are the sweltering ones. Love Dolly
Today is really hot, so I imagine this heat will get old quickly! Though the dogs are happy because it means more swimming.
No dogs would cooperate in the taking of my “nature” photos….LOL (Cricket would not stay still). I could have come up with something of them swimming in the pond or playing in the yard, but I felt like I’ve shared so many of those lately I needed to do something different! I wanted a nice bird photo or something, but the birds weren’t cooperating either. 🙂
So beautiful and peaceful. I would love some R&R there.
beautiful job with the edit. lovely photo
Wow, what a beautiful photo!!!

Hi Y’all!
Lookin’ great! Wish my Human would learn how to edit photos!
Y’all come on by,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Thanks, Hawk! It’s fun to edit, but it’s not always easy, and it can be time consuming too!
Wonderfully remastered!
That is a gorgeous shot! I feel as if I am there. ☺
I say you did a great job! It’s a beautiful photo!! I love that giant sunbeam!!
And I definitely agree about morning being the most peaceful time of the day! I set my alarm on my phone for 7am just so I can have the peace of being the only one awake for a while.
I don’t get that alone time, because the hubby is up at 5am with the dogs…and there’s no way I’m trying to beat that! 🙂
LOL. I wouldn’t either! Thank goodness Sam usually sleeps til at least 9:30!
Beautiful shot, I love the sun beam.
beautiful!! I can feel the early morning air
