Birds can be trained to come for treats just like dogs.

The Dadz has all of our hens well trained, and they absolutely love bread. By the time I got the camera out, they had each gotten their piece and ran away with it!

I can see the one closest to the Dadz has the bread in his mouth! I hear chickens are pretty smart, so I would guess they COULD be trained. 🙂
Just like dogs, they each have their own personalities and some are easier than others! 🙂
We has sucks in our neighborhood dat are a little too trained to beg fur treats 😉 BOL buts they run from me…I’m not sure why I just want to kiss them!
xoxo,
Matt (& Matilda)
That’s what Luke says about our birds too, and they are wise to run. LOL!
My chickens would always come running when I fed them the scrapes from the house.
It amazes us all the different things they love!!
First, thank you for joining in on the hop. Most appreciated. I’ll have new links for all my hops starting tomorrow and everyone can get the same code for the hop.
I was raised on a farm and you’re right about training birds to come for their treat. It’s ever so special.
Hope you had a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Happy Thursday. ♥
I’m so glad to join in, thank you for hosting it!
The training comes in handy when we need to get them inside at times too, as you probably know. 🙂
Great job by the Dadz!
We call him the “Chicken Whisperer” around here! 🙂
It’s always nice to keep the ladies happy.
We do our best!!
You need to train one to play the piano like the one at the state fair. LOL!
Oh my goodness!! LOL
Everybuddy loves a treat! Even the hens!
I really had no idea they’d be so food motivated!!
That is cute 🙂 Everyone loves a treat.
It makes it easier if we need to get them inside too (well, some of the time anyway). 🙂
How adorable and what a beautiful picture!
Thank you!!
They sure are happy ones!
Happy birds lay more eggs, in theory anyway. 🙂
How cute! Reminds me when I used to horseback ride, I made the mistake of shaking a bucket of grain to bring the horses into a small paddock area and it seemed like every chicken on the property came running after me. Oh yeah, the horse snickered at the back side of the field. 🤣
Oh, I can sure picture that!! I can’t go out into the yard with anything in my hand, because they think I have something for them!!
Our girls loved cooked spaghetti noodles.
I have to try that sometime!!
This post made me smile ear-to-ear this morning! Is it homemade bread?
No, but most of it is at least organic. 🙂 The Dadz gets the bread from the store he works at, when it’s getting close to going out of code. You can’t beat free, and the birds don’t care if it’s fresh or not (as long as it’s not moldy, we never give them that)!
it was may favorite thing to feed bread to the chickens and the ducks… till we had to eat crackers for dinner, then my mother put the bread away ;O))
Haha, it’s not good when the birds eat better than you do!!
Do chickens do tricks for treats too? I could see them coming for food for sure.
I have heard they will! I doubt it’s anything I’d ever try though….unless I get really bored! LOL
