While for the most part canine siblings Cricket and Luke like to have their own spaces for hanging out and napping, it seems like more and more lately I’m able to capture them sharing some favorite spots amiably. It was not long ago when I shared this photo on Instagram of them lying in front of the wood stove:
That was the first time they had ever been seen there together, and in fact, I never saw it at the time. The Dadz snapped that shot with his phone, and it didn’t last long. Just the other day they were on the couch together again too, and pretty close to each other to boot.
It may not seem like a lot to some, who’s dogs might lie together all the time, but it is rare for these two. Luke has jealousy issues, and the older Cricket gets, the more she likes her space even from us humans. I am going to make the most of capturing any moments like these that I can, because I truly am thankful for them.

Better late than never to be pals and lay together, too sweet.
I agree! Thank you!
Such cuties!! Dat are how me & Angel Sisfur Ginger were. Mama always loved it when we would cuddle but it was few and far between.
xoxo,
Matt (& Matilda)
I hope your Mom got to capture some photos of those special moments! xxoo
Awwwww, glad you got to catch them together. We have the same type of closeness issues with Rosy and Arty..mostly on Arty’s side.
I think it’s tougher when there’s an age – and difference in activity levels. The older ones can find the young ones to be a bit too much! Hopefully as Rosy gets older, they’ll get closer too.
Same way here! The couch is Dolly’s turf and she’ll growl and Taffy to keep her off. But Taffy manages to squeeze in on top of me! I just did an IG photo of them almost touching heads! Sandra and Dolly
I’m not sure much touching is allowed between these two, so we have to settle for just being in the same location! Luke will also growl at Cricket if my hubby or I are sitting there, and Cricket will sometimes snarl at Luke if she doesn’t want to be bothered. So these moments are definitely precious, and it sounds like you know just how that is!
Those kinds of photos are priceless and wonderful to savor those rare but special moments.
With Cricket getting older and her health issues, it’s especially important to me to capture them.
beautiful photos of those 2 together, love them-
That is so sweet. I love when the boys sleep close to each other. They do rest their heads on one another in their kennel when we travel even though they have lots of room.
Now that is so sweet! I’m not sure I’ve seen these two actually touching, I’ll definitely have to capture that moment if it ever happens! 🙂
I think that’s super cool. I know the struggles you’ve had in the past – so happy for you. Perhaps they both are mellowing out and will continue to share and snuggle. Good for you!!!!
I sure hope so too, thank you!!
It’s nice to see them together. Let’s hope it continues.
Awww…that is so sweet.
Shadow and Ducky have never been “close” friends – as you know – but sometimes, especially in the yard, they do get pretty close to each other. I guess, without Callie here to compete for her attention, they occasionally feel a need to be closer? I don’t know. But like you, I cherish those moments when I catch them together as well as the photos I do manage to get as “proof”.
Cricket and Luke are so cute together!!
Have a great day!!
Sheba was the one most often seen snuggling with either of these two, she was close with both of them and they were not close at all. I think you are right in your theory.
Whatever the reason though, we’ll take it, right? 🙂
efurry couch is made for two… therefore some call it love seat :O))
Very good point!
You two really do look seriously sweet together! Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
That’s great they like to be together sometimes. We all have our own space. Katie and I used to be tight together quite often, but I’ve never had that bond with anyone else. Bailie and Madison hang out together but don’t snuggle up when they lie down. They are close, but not snuggled.
Sheba and Cricket would occasionally snuggle, but Sheba also preferred her own space to stretch out. I think as dogs get older they like their own space more too. Cricket will even get up and move away from us humans when we sit next to her sometimes. She doesn’t like to be bothered when she’s sleeping!
