The hot weather has been kind of coming and going this summer. Last week it was 88 degrees Fahrenheit, sunny, and we had what the weather-people were calling “oppressive” humidity. Yet this is what our beagle Cricket kept insisting on doing:
Anyone for some “Toasted Beagle”? 🙂

Don’t worry, I only let her stay out there for just a very few minutes before making her come back into the house. It was one of my work at home days and I had to bring her in many times throughout the day!
Do any of your dogs love the heat that much?
Thank you BlogPaws for hosting the Wordless Wednesday blog hop. Please visit other blogs through the links below!
Nellie is right with you Cricket, she lays in the sun and pants and loves it.
oh my!!! She sure does like it!!! BOL!!
Our seniors do the same thing. It is goofy.
Same thing with our guys. Sherm is in and out ALL day and the old doxies looks for the hottest spot on the deck and then moves to the shade and this goes on all afternoon. Sherm, is white and brown, like your Beagle so I worry about his lighter link areas getting burnt!
Cricket absolutely wears me out when I’m home, she’s in and out so much! At least in the winter she parks herself in front of the woodstove and stays there!
Mr. N insists on going on walks when it’s super hot outside and then plopping down in the grass after a while and demanding to be carried back.
LOL…it must seem like a good idea when he starts out, but he realizes maybe it wasn’t after a while!
Hehehe. Toasted beagle. Love it. Rita normally isn’t a big fan of hot weather, but she’ll still go out and lay on the hot deck in the hot sun. It’s nutty and I don’t get it! Working on their tans??
You do have to wonder what they are thinking – how can they be comfortable, especially when they’re panting away?!
No dogs here…but Ernie has been know to lay in the sun for hours. Amazing for a black cat that must just soak up the heat.
Yes! Haley does this too and with her black coat, I swear she’s got to be burning up. It must feel wonderful to them, but I watch from inside while enjoying the 72 degree AC, haha!
Hailey loves to sunbath too! We also limit how long if it is really hot.
I enjoy lying in the sun until my furs are well done and I can’t take it anymore. At that point, I drag myself into a shady spot to cool down.
Awe, Cricket is so cute! Our family dog used to sun herself until she was too hot, too!
It must be the hound in them. Bentley will go lay out on our concrete patio when it is 100° and let the sun roast him. I have to bring him in after a few minutes for his own good. Haha!
My dog loves to sit in the sun too. Happy Wordless Wednesday!
No but, sometimes I want to go outside so I can just lay in the sun. As a black dog I last for a few minutes before I start panting then move to shade. Mom knows I’ll move so she just lets me do it. Love Dolly
Cricket just stays there longer than I am comfortable with! 🙂
Summer coming and going here in London too.
At the moment it’s heating up again and I just want to sleep all the time!
The heat just saps every bit of our energy, doesn’t it? 🙂
Mom grabs us out of the sun too BOL. Isn’t it funny how we fry
Lily & Edward
Ducky! She absolutely LOVES laying in the sunniest spot she can find! I get hot just watching her sometimes. But, she does get up and move to a shady spot after five minutes or so. I don’t worry about her so much. Callie and Shadow – like Ducky – always knew/know when to move into the shade and/or get a drink of water. But I still keep an eye on them anyway, like any good pet parent.
It’s especially surprising when black dogs do it! I can actually feel such a big difference between Luke’s black and white spots when he’s in the sun. He and Sheba gravitate far more to the shade though.
Barley hates to be hot–so much so that on our first short warm of spring when it finally hits 60, she’ll be dragging me to the shade, plopping down, and refusing to walk any farther. BUT for some reason when I take her outside even though 75% of our yard is wonderfully shady, she chooses the one patch of sun on the cement patio to lounge in. Such a mystery!
Dogs definitely want to keep us guessing about what they are thinking and doing! 🙂
Harley does the same thing, he lies in the hot sun and bakes. Strange Doodle!
fortunately you didn’t furgot the “e” …. or all would like a roasted bagle LOL. it’s too here too, Easy sleeps the whole day on the floor, flat as a pancake and we play socker at 1:30 am in the garden… not sure if I can stand that the next days…. wish it would rain :O)
