One of my resolutions for 2013 was to do better with photography. I worked on that a lot, and I think I’ve been sharing a lot more photos and the quality has gotten better from when I first started the blog. My hubby was going to get me some expensive photo editing software to help, but I discovered from other bloggers that there were websites that would do a lot of the things that I wanted, for free!
Recently a couple of different blogs reviewed the free online photo editor Fotor.com and I was interested in giving that one a try too. When Fotor.com contacted me asking if I would also be interested in doing a review, it seemed like the perfect time to give it a try. I just had to get through the holiday busy-ness before I could really sit down and play with it!
There are so many different features and options you can spend a lot of time just playing around with all the fun effects for your photos. The website is very easy to maneuver around and figure out how to do things. You can upload multiple photos at once and switch around which ones you want to work on.
Of course, you can do all the basic editing – cropping, adding text, making photo collages, etc. I think the different effects they have to choose from are much more extensive than the other site I was using. You can easily try the effects and switch between them to see what you like. Then you can add clip art and frames, which they have a very large selection of as well. There are card templates for making quick and easy cards for birthdays, holidays, and other occasions. Since you can upload multiple photos, it’s easy to try different photos in each card. You can also share your projects directly to your social media accounts.
One of the features I like is called “1 Tap Enhance”. Just click on that button and it will adjust your photo to improve the quality automatically. Or you can make all those adjustments yourself. Here are just a few of the things I did just for fun:
Our next big holiday is Valentine’s Day and you can use one of their templates to make a quick and easy card, or you can just design your own.
This effect is called “Scratchy Pencil”:
This was one of my typical out-of-focus photos, but I think I turned it into something a little more creative:
Here’s another photo that wasn’t that great to start, but I like what I ended up with after enhancing it and adding some effects:

There are various options for just the black and white effect. There are 6 different variations in that effect alone!
Warning: Fotor.com can be a time suck! With so many options to choose from, you can spend much more time than you planned trying different effects, etc., on your photos. That’s what happened to me today!
*Disclosure: I am being compensated by Fotor.com for reviewing their website. However, Wag ‘n Woof Pets only shares things we feel will be of interest to our readers, and all reviews reflect my honest opinion.
What cool edits! Some of those black and white ones are just gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
I love fotor. I use it when I want to do frames or text or fun collages.
I really love all the selections….even the collages just seem to have more choices.
I really like fotor. I downloaded their free editor which I like better than the online version. They don’t have all the clip art on the d/l version, but I think it is easier than the online version with more editing choices. You did a nice job on those pictures. 🙂
Thank you!! I didn’t get a chance to check out the download version, now I’ll have to do that too.
Looks like fun! Like Emma’s mom, I’m used to PicMonkey and can’t afford another time suck! I could spend hours messing with my photos!
I hear you! I started checking this out at the beginning of the year and then just couldn’t stop playing with it. Luckily I needed photos for the blog anyway, so it wasn’t all just screwing off! 🙂
Great review, fun fun! I love the last pine tree photo.
I wasn’t too sure…creativity is not my strong point. So glad you liked that photo!
I know about FOTOR but haven’t had a chance to really “get to know it”….will have to do that. I’ve used PIZAP for over a year and have a whole lot of fun with it but I say you just can’t have too many “fun spots” to work with photos and be creative. Great review – I’ll visit FOTOR again.
Pam
I think you’re right, Pam. And each one probably has something the others don’t. I have not tried PIZAP so might have to check that one out too.
Thank you!
Now we have that but haven’t had the time to use it yet BOL, will have to spend time and check it out. Super cool photo’s 🙂 XXXOXXXX
Mollie and Alfie
Hope you can find some time to give it a try, you’ll have fun!
xxxooo
I’m pretty happy with the photo editing program I have now, but this really intrigues me! I will have to check them out!
I think you’ll like them! I imagine every program has something a little different than others too, so you may find something there you really like.
Interesting that you find Fotor easier to use than PicMonkey. I’ll have to check it out.
I often feel bad about my photographs. For one thing, it’s very cloudy around here so most of my pics are dark and gloomy. But even if I won’t be an artistic genius, I can always do better. I’m thankful for programs that help make up for my lack of talent. 🙂
I am so thankful for them also! I can’t tell you how many of my photos are out of focus. I blame autofocus and it makes me want to go back to the old fashioned way of doing things, but I just haven’t had time to learn all the manual adjustments on my good camera. So for now I try to take a lot of shots and weed through to find something I can improve enough to share! 🙂
we first learned about Fotor from Roxy….we love the website and use it occasionally
I couldn’t remember everyone who had reviewed it, but now it comes back to me that Roxy was one of them! So glad you tried it and liked it too.
Looking good. Nice pics of your babies!
Thank you, Jim! That’s one thing about having the blog….it has me taking a lot more photos of the babies, and that is such a good thing!
I use it occasionally and I use picmonkey from time to time. It takes so long to adjust to a new program we just don’t have the time to figure it all out! Every program has something we like/need so we use a wide variety.
Oh, I know what you mean, Emma. I had been using PicMonkey mostly, but I did find Fotor a little easier to figure out. I just don’t have time either for learning all this new stuff though, I was supposed to have this review up weeks ago! 🙂
Hmmm I am going to check this site out! Thanks for sharing!
Great photos also!!! Beautiful!

Thank you so much!!
I think you’ll have fun with it.
Hugz to you too!
