In the past, I’ve also referred to Luke and Sheba as “Frick and Frack“. These two also often bring the names to mind. That got me thinking: who exactly were Frick and Frack, and is that reference really appropriate here?
It turns out the origin is from a partnership of Swiss ice skaters whose stage names were Frick and Frack. They became famous in their later years in a series of skating shows called the “Ice Follies”, which began in 1936 and ran for almost 50 years. They were together for so long and became so well known, that their names are now slang and refer to two people (or dogs!) who work well together or get along great.
They apparently were similar in looks as well; that part doesn’t fit so much here, though Luke and Cricket do have similar intent expressions in this photo!
Any guesses as to what has their rapt attention?
Thank you to BlogPaws for hosting the Wordless Wednesday blog hop!
Interesting. I never knew the origin of that one.
My crew never looks that intense unless there is food involved!

What a cool story! Sometimes I think my two are Pete and (Re)Peat. LOL
That’s a good one too!!
Now that’s interesting trivia, Jan, cause I would have thought it more of 2 sillies together! But that photo is just gorgeous, love it!
They were a comedy duo of ice skaters, so sillies is also appropriate (for these two as well)!
My college roommate and I called each other those names for years- never knew its origin. Thanks
Thanks for the lesson! I had no idea who Frick and Frack were.
I always get curious about these things. Where would I be without the internet? 🙂
Lovely pic of those two!
I always wondered where that expression came from! Such a cute picture!
That’s a wonderful photo. I think that Frick and Frack fits!
Huh. I never knew that before. And I don’t think I’ve even been using it right (or hearing others use it right…). I usually hear it used as two clowns, or two jokers. I didn’t realize it was supposed to be a team of two who get along well. Interesting!
And I’m guessing you were going to throw the ball??
You are right about the ball! Though actually I had no intention of throwing it. I was just trying to get them to focus. Kind of mean, huh? LOL
I think your use of Frick and Frack is also very common, and excepted as one of the uses – they were actually a comedy team of ice skaters.
We never knew the origin of Frick and Frack. Luke and Cricket sure fit the bill…but they aren’t going to start skating are they? 😉
I don’t know….you should see Cricket tearing across the yard in the snow. It is almost like she is skating sometimes (though maybe closer to skiing)! LOL
They are the dynamic duo!
They’d probably argue over who was Batman and who was Robin though! 🙂
I have used the term for years and had no idea of its origin! Thanks for clearing it up for me. Bentley and Pierre are also examples of Frick & Frack. ☺
Oh yes, those two boys are definitely two of a kind! ♥
What a fabulous photo!
We love it! Such a perfect namesake for such perfect buddies!!! <3
That’s such a cool picture Frick and Frack
Snorts,

Huh! We have used the term Frick and Frack for a long time but never knew the history of it until now!
We’ve heard of Frick and Frack. Funny how humans always come up with such funny names for us.
I didn’t know – or forgot – the origin of the names. Interesting! I used to love the Ice Follies!
Cricket and Luke – as well as Sheba and Luke – are your version! They do seem to have very similar gazes. Callie and Shadow were always my Frick and Frack. They were like twins, and the best of friends. Shadow and Ducky remind me more of the “Mutt and Jeff” cartoon characters. ????
Oh yes, Mutt and Jeff might be appropriate for these two as well! Sheba and Moses were always two of a kind as well. I have more photos of them posing the exact same way, side by side!
yes… that are frick and frack… but I don’t hope they will not start to wear alpine lederhosen LOL
LOL!
I don’t know – they might look cute? LOL
