Remember my Throwback Thursday post (“Cat Mischief“) around two weeks ago about Samantha and my plants? At least one reader expressed some doubt about how well my barrier to my plants was going to work at keeping Sam out of them, and they turned out to be right! First, she worked her way around one side and snuck in to chew plants, so I blocked that off. Next, she found her way around the back to get to them! I had it all blocked off in the end, and apparently that made her mad….so lastly she just busted the barrier down and chewed on three of my cabbage plants! She finds her way around pretty darn well for a cat that is mostly blind! That’s when I threw in the towel. You can see in the below photo that there are no longer any plants on the bottom shelf.
Does Samantha look like she feels any remorse? I think she looks more p-o’d that I took all the plants away. At first I was thinking she won. Then I wondered, since she no longer has any plants to chew on, did she really? Then again, I’m the one that had to find places for all those plants – I planted some of the more cold-hardy flowers and then I set up some cold frames so I can put some of the plants outside (which I was going to do eventually anyway). The rest I moved up higher, but they’re kind of overcrowded up there!
But hey, it could be worse, Sam, I could have just banned you from the room! We’re expecting some really nice weather this week, and the grass is turning green, so we’ll get her outside for a field trip. That should cheer her up!
So, who do you think won?
Poor Sam she needs a catnip bush to snack on
Don’t let her make you feel sorry for her….she has one in her room!! LOL
MOL she definitely looks like she has no remorse 😉 We cats always get our way!
xoxo,
Matilda (& Matt)
You certainly do!! 🙂
Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Apparently she had the will and found the way.
BUT you still win because she’s not eating them anymore!
I think cats are pretty good at getting their way, that’s for sure! I’m running out of room for plants without my third shelf though! LOL
Sam is one smart kitty; she may be p-o’d, but she’s also figuring out her next move… 😉
Oh no, I fear you’re right about that!! I need to research what herbs are OK for her, and maybe sacrifice some plants to her. I can’t do the cat grass stuff because she doesn’t keep it down!
I think Samantha will win when there are some catnip and wheat grass plants on the bottom shelf!
Yup, she’ll get her way eventually! I need to find some other plants for her though, that grass doesn’t agree with her, and maybe she’s getting bored with the catnip she has in her room?
I think that Sam won! I didn’t know that cats liked eating plants! I thought that you were 100% carnivores!
Well, considering many of the plants she eats come back up, maybe she’s supposed to be? LOL
She does look mad. Thank you for the condolences you left on my blog for my family’s loss. XO
You are very welcome. ♥
Us cats are so sneaky. Humans, just give up.
Why do we even try to outsmart you? 🙂
Poor Sam. She can’t win for losing when it comes to plants. ☺
She will, however, keep on trying! 🙂
I think Sam won. Cats always win. ; )
I think you’re right about that!
Trying to outwit a 4-legged pet is an exercise in futility when they are determined. I have to go with Samantha. She outfoxed you, mom. Hopefully the field trip will make everyone a bit happier.
She had one short trip out, but the grass wasn’t green yet so she wasn’t impressed. This week should be better, since the grass is greening up nicely now. 🙂
Cats always win, well, mostly. Way to go Sam!
I think if we humans manage to win a round, it’s only because you cats let us. 🙂
Cats and plants are always a thing around here too.
I can imagine with all that Bert gets into, plants would be on the list too. 🙂
Sam does not look pleased in that photo! I’d have to say the momz won, but just barely. And she’d better be ready for Sam to seek vengeance!
I’m definitely staying on my guard!
a field trip sounds great Sam… that is better than being a vegecatian who eats only plants ;O))) but I have to admit that plants look very interesting to me too ;O)
Thank goodness Luke doesn’t have access to that room! BOL
