On Sunday I shared this photo in black & white and asked what you thought Cricket was doing here. Many of you guessed she was after a squirrel, bird, other animal, or food. Some thought she might be looking to climb that tree or was just sniffing it. Two of her aunties guessed that her ball might be stuck up there (it wasn’t). Of course, they know Cricket best (since they both are also our pet sitters)….they were correct that it had to do with her ball, and some were correct that she was sniffing that tree. But why was she sniffing that tree? Because her ball had bounced off of it! Cricket enjoys tracking where her ball has been. Sometimes she does it with the ball in her mouth, she runs around smelling the ground or any other object that ball might have touched. It’s really fun to watch her do it. In this case her sister or brother must have had the ball so she was probably trying to track it down!
This week the theme for our #52 Snapshots of Life photo challenge is “Music” and this is my contribution:
This blog hop is hosted by The Lazy Pit Bull, and you can see the other photo contributions through the links below.
Did we ever find out what was in the tree?
There was nothing IN the tree, but the ball had bounced OFF the tree, and Cricket was tracking it!
The sounds of a cat’s purr is music to my ears too!
It’s the most relaxing music in the world too
Cricket has a good sniffer!
Yup, she’s a hound dog through and through!
Our daughter has 3 cats, and two of them have hidden from us for years when we visit. On New Year’s Eve one of them invited me to pet him, and started purring! I felt strangely flattered, that I was finally accepted as a safe visitor 🙂
You were definitely honored! A lot of our cats have hidden from visitors as well, and everyone would always be excited if they came over and actually just spotted one of our cats. Our elderly cat Conrad comes out all of the time now though, he used to be totally skittish and now he’ll weave around under anyone’s feet….even the dogs!
I did guess that the tree smelled good, and “like a ball” counts as good! 🙂 What a wonderful sentiment for the music theme. I agree! The sounds of snoring cats and dogs are music to my ears too… and even sometimes meowing and barking.
You were so right about the tree smell, Bethany! Snoring dogs is definitely a good one too…I love that sound. Meowing and barking is good sometimes too…we just want to keep those concerts a little shorter. 🙂
A cat’s purr is so relaxing. ☺
Peaceful and serene….
Appaws! Great interpretation of music! Cricket has some tall pee-mail.
Thank you so much!!
I can’t say that I’ve ever tried to track where my stuff has been, usually once I find it I’m good! Maybe I’ll have to try it one time, just to see how I like it…it might even be fun! Cricket seems to think so, at least!
My mom says she agrees about the kitty’s purr. She loves it when my fur sister Baby gets up and drapes on her shoulder and starts purring.
Cricket says to tell you that tracking your ball is definitely fun, and you should try it!
There is nothing like a cat purring in your ear, except for maybe when you’re trying to sleep! LOL. Our cat Katie had the loudest purr and she often wanted to sleep right on my pillow!
Your photo is purr-fect for the photo challenge. I love to listen to Harper Lee’s super-slow breathing when she sleeps. And that Cricket cracks me up with the ball-tracking obsession. She’s focused!
Thank you, Miss Lee!
Cricket sometimes snores very softly when she sleeps, and that can be very relaxing too.
Wow, Cricket is very focused to track where the ball bounced off.
We think purrs are one of the best sounds in the universe.
It definitely is one of the best sounds, isn’t it?
I’m not sure Cricket is so much “focused” as “obsessed”…LOL.
That’s very cute that she tracks her ball that way. Way to use that Beagle nose of yours!
Her nose gets a workout a lot, since we play ball every day that we can (a little less this winter so far but hopefully the weather starts cooperating more).
Great choice, that is my favorite sound in the world.
It is just so serene and relaxing, isn’t it?
It’s funny that Cricket likes to track her ball and is sniffing the tree because it had been there.
The mom loves the sound of us purring.
I bet you three can get a purr-ty good chorus going over there! 🙂
There’s nothing quite so serene as the music of a cat’s purr. Great photo. I love he story about Cricket – she’s a real tracking dog! 🙂
That she is! She was actually bred to be a rabbit hunter, but all we wanted was a pet. At least she gets to use her nose tracking down the ball, which she just loves.
Best music photo! Love Dolly
Thank you so much, Dolly!
Who knew Cricket? That does sound pretty interesting how she likes to track things. And I love your photo idea for this week.
Thank you, Ann! Cricket definitely has a really good nose, and is pretty happy just using it to track balls!
I miss having that “prrrr” around this house! It certainly is soothing music.
That it is. You know, we talk some of not getting more cats after these, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to do it or not. I would definitely miss that.
Oh Cricket you are so clever. And what a beautiful music post!
Thank you!!
SO cool! I bet she would do fantastic at nose work!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We’ve started doing it a bit with her for fun, and so far she is doing quite well! She has a different technique than Luke though, she’s a bit more thorough than he is.
Ha ha ha! That sounds like our Black Tornado! He would track his ball to the ends of the Earth!
Oh, those two would definitely get along then…as long as they each had their own ball!
Awwww, that’s nice music indeed.
The sweetest!
that’s cute Cricket :o) but it’s also a proof that Beagles are fabulous scent hounds :o)
Thanks, Easy! Cricket was actually bred to be a rabbit hunter. But since we have no rabbits she hunts her ball instead!
Purring is beautiful music! My sister laughs because Soth purrs while he eats breakfast. I love how much Cricket loves her ball! How cute.
Cricket has been all about her ball ever since she was a puppy….it is definitely her obsession.
I think our cats purr when they’re eating too….why wouldn’t they, it’s their favorite thing to do! LOL
A ball or squirrel well that are about the same thing so I was close lol.
LOL! I think Cricket would ignore a squirrel if one went by when she was playing ball!
That’s so cute that Cricket does that! She’s such a smarty pants! Lol. I love that pic of Samantha. She looks quite happy!
Sam is definitely content there…I think she’s just happy to be getting some attention!
Cricket can be very entertaining sometimes, and she definitely is a smart one. 🙂
That is a good take on music! Kitty looks quite happy!
Thank you, and yes, she certainly is!
