You may remember that all the dogs tried their first watermelon for Cricket’s birthday earlier this month. Sheba and Luke loved it the most. We had a lot left over after our Labor Day weekend party, so I cut it up in chunks and put it in the freezer. Even Cricket really loved it this way! However, frozen treats upset Sheba’s stomach, so even though she liked it, she couldn’t have it this way.
We’ve been clicker training with Luke, and as much as he loves fruits and vegetables, they’re not very easy to just throw in the treat pouch to use for training. So when we were offered a chance to try Fruitables Skinny Minis in watermelon flavor, I saw a solution to both problems, and we were happy to!

When I opened the bag I could smell the watermelon! The first ingredient is actually pumpkin but the smell of the watermelon juice which is also in there really stands out. These chewy little treats are free of gluten, wheat, corn, soy and artificial colors or flavors. They use only GMO free canola oil, and each treat has only 2 1/2 calories.
We try to use a variety of treats for Luke’s training, to keep his interest, and if these treats were a hit, they would be added to his treat bag. Here the crew is lined up ready to do their taste testing:
Now, I can’t lie, our dogs aren’t super picky, but they do show preference for some things. I usually judge by seeing whether they wait and are looking for more when they try something new. Their furry butts stayed glued to the floor after their first try of these treats so I knew they were a hit!

We added some to the pouch and headed downstairs for Luke’s 10 minute training session. Below you can see him performing his sit-stay and his down-stay hoping to get one of those treats out of the pouch, which of course he did!
Now the dogs can enjoy their new found love of watermelon year round. Fruitables are made by Vetscience, LLC in the USA. Vetscience is based in Dallas, Texas and was founded by veterinarians and nutritionists. Great review and pictures.
Thank you!
Our dogs love Fruitables. They are in the middle of a bag now. But I have not seen the watermelon flavored ones. 🙂
I think the watermelon flavor are new, and limited edition, so you might have to get some soon in order not to miss out!
I’ve never seen this, but I sense that our dogs would LOVE them! Great review!
Thank you! I imagine your dogs would love them too!

❀Siamese Smothers and Tuxie Tickles❀ from Mikko and Jax at Happiness is Siamese!
Please let me know what you find out, and whether your cats will eat it if they can!
We just recently discovered these and wonder why it took so long to come up with the idea.
A lot of dogs really love fruit, so why not fruit flavored dog treats?
Mmmm we just got these in the mail today!
My butt is not glued to the floor when I want more…I start sniffing and licking everywhere to pick up any possible morsel!
When the treats are put away, then the searching begins for any crumb that might have been dropped too! Hope you enjoy yours!
We love these treats! They are pyrfect for training 🙂
They definitely are!
Ooo yummy! We got some fruitables samples at the Pet Expo that we went to. I forget the flavors but I think they may have been apple…
We’re going to definitely try some of the other flavors!
My boys LOVE those watermelon treats. They are the perfect size for training. I have Bentley turning in a circle using them! WooHoo! THey tasted their first watermelon this summer too. Bentley can’t eat frozen stuff either. Weird, huh?
It is weird, isn’t it? Poor Sheba had to try a few different times before I realized exactly what was causing it….I thought it was yogurt treats and then finally figured out it was any frozen treat. So glad we have these as an option now!
We keep seeing them and think they sound real good. If we go outside with them in a couple months we will have frozen watermelon treats without the mess too!
Very good point, Emma! 🙂
that’s a super idea! you have a tasty reward what’s healthy without much calories. I wish Easy would like fruits too, that would be much easier :o)
Luke loves pretty much all fruits and vegetables. Cricket will eat very few and Sheba will eat a few more than Cricket. It sure makes it easy when we can share lots of those healthy treats with Luke, especially when he gets so many with his training….we need to watch the calories!
