The theme for this week’s #52Snapshots of Life photo challenge is “Pumpkin“. Yes, dogs do like pumpkin and Luke was ready to chow right down on this one! I remember many years ago when our Lab mix Maggie started chomping on a pumpkin we had thrown in the woods at camp. We thought it was funny, at the time we had no idea how good pumpkin is for dogs!
Apparently the stems taste good too.
We will hopefully be carving this one and then roasting it later, so the crew will get some real fresh pumpkin! That’s providing the Momz doesn’t get lazy like she did last year, and just leaves it outside until it freezes. 🙂

Sweet photo, love his bandanna.
That pumpkin must be tasty!
We’re way behind this year. Haven’t gotten our pumpkin yet. I don’t think stems taste all that delicious though…
I’m too lazy to roast my own pumpkins, but have you tried stuffing them? They are one of my favorite fall meals.
No, I’ve never tried that! I’ll have to look into how to do that, it sounds great!
NOMS!!! Our pack lovesssss pumpkin!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
Yes, please roast it for your crew! They look as if they would truly enjoy it!
Pumpkin is good for us cats and dogs!
I can’t wait to see if Samantha will eat it too!
Looks like Luke might be a stem chewer like Bailie!
Oh, he definitely is, because that stem is completely gone now!
That reminds me of how I feed the rinds of my cooked winter squashes to my dogs. So I guess there is another vegetable besides french fries that they’ll eat.
We always found squirrels nibbling on our jack o’lanterns in Ithaca. I don’t think it ever occurred to Honey to nibble on them even though she loves pumpkin.
I guess Luke is just smart enough to go right to the source. 🙂
We all love pumpkin here! Mmmmm!
Looks like someone can’t wait for her pumpkin.
Pumpkin is delicious!! I didn’t know that stems tasted good 🙂
Apparently they either taste good, or are just fun to chew off. Luke ended up chewing the whole stem off, but I don’t think he ate it (not all of it anyway!).
Roasted pumpkin sounds yummy! We have only roasted the seeds for us. We should get one for the dogs. ☺
They really do love it. Also, after roasting it I sometimes grind it up in the food processor and then freeze it in bags to use later (for dog recipes and even pies or breads as well).
Aw, those pictures are awesome! I swear I’m not going to be lazy this year too. I really am going to roast those seeds and cook the pumpkin, lol!
Let’s make a pact to do so and then maybe both of us will not be slackers this year! 🙂
We love fresh pumpkin and eat it quite a bit
Lily & Edward
Looks like someone doesn’t want to wait for the cooking.
the photo is darling and the bandana is too! You sound like me, I always have good intentions of making pumpkin seeds and all and never get around to doing it! That pumpkin is perfectly shaped too!
Thank you, Caren! I got Halloween bandanas for the girls too and will share some of those photos soon. I hope I’m going to have a free weekend next weekend, and will find the ambition to actually roast the pumpkin and seeds this time. LOL.
Do you grow your own pumpkins? We like the seeds but none for dawgs. 🙂
I have grown my own in the past, but not for the last couple of years. I try to garden organically, and squash bugs ate all of my squash plants last year so I’m taking a break from them!
We found a pumpkin on our walk one morning and Taffy tried eating it too! Mom doesn’t even buy them as she has no use for them, they would just freeze like yours did. Hope you get to carve this one, if any is left after Luke! Love Dolly
Well, he did chew the stem off, but so far the pumpkin itself is still intact! LOL
your pumpkin looks much better than my crooked mispurchase… my dad said it was the best one… well probably the other ones need no carving to looks scary LOL
