One year ago today, we helped our golden retriever Sheba to the Rainbow Bridge after she fought cancer for two years. Today I want to share some of my favorite photos of her – they’re not all the best quality or composed photos, but each one tells a little about her and her life with us. I don’t have access to a lot of photos from her middle years – the external hard drive I had copied many to crashed and I’m not sure it can be fixed. Thank goodness for this blog, because I certainly have plenty of photos of her from her last few years since I started the blog in 2012; too many to go through them all!
Here is Sheba at just under 5 months old with her sibling and littermate, Moses, and our Cricket, who was just a couple of months older than the goldens.
Sheba somehow managed to look pretty with her golden locks even when her paws were all muddy (and she loved to get muddy!).

This photo is especially precious because here Sheba is in between her two brothers who went to the Bridge before her – Moses, and our beagle, Kobi. I also love that Samantha is in this shot (and Cricket as well)!
This bandana we brought home from a vacation fit Sheba perfectly – she loved and wanted attention from everyone she met!
The next photo has long been one of my favorites of Sheba playing with Luke and Cricket. Playing ball with her siblings was one of her favorite things, and she loved to be the one who had the ball, since Cricket usually hogged it!
Sheba always had a smile, and this shot was taken on her last birthday in October 2016. We didn’t expect her to still be with us then, so it was a very special one.
This final photo was taken just over two weeks before we lost her. She was active and happy almost right up until the end, and that was important to us.
We all love and miss you every single day, girlfriend, and we hope you are having fun with your family and friends at the Bridge. ♥♥♥♥♥
I know this must have been a tough anniversary, and there’s nothing I can really say, other than she had a great last year or two thanks to you. Dolly’s surgery is rescheduled for February 2nd. So ready to get it over with. Sandra and Dolly
Your support through it all was so greatly appreciated, you always assured me we were doing the right things and that helped a lot.
I’m glad Dolly’s surgery is at least rescheduled now, and I totally understand wanting to just get it behind you.
Love you both!

Sending you a virtual hug.
Thank you, Jodi. Sharing her with all my special blog friends like you has been such a joy, I only wish you could have met her in person. ♥
Sheba was such a sweet girl, loved her to pieces, wonderful memories of her here! Hugs to you on this day…
She loved you so much too, Auntie Lynn!
Oh Jan, you’ve been on my mind all day, now I know why. And Sheba’s been on my mind a lot lately, too. I know how you miss her; just as I miss my Callie. They were so much alike. Loving, sweet, and with just the right touch of mischief. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great photo choices by the way!!!
Thank you so much, Sue. There was just something so special about our two girls, and I just know they are best friends at the Bridge. ♥
Sheba was a beautiful girl. Purrs to you as you remember her on this sad anniversary.
Thank you!
I must’ve found your blog very soon after Sheba passed. She was a beauty, and her wonderful spirit shine through in every single photo. Hugs to you.
Thank you so much!

Thank you, Caren! xxoo
Sending extra hugs today. What lovely memories of a beautiful girl!
Thank you so much!!
Sheba was such a beautiful dog. Goldens are an amazing breed. I love them.
Thank you, and I agree. We didn’t choose goldens purposely….a friend had the puppies; but I’m so glad we did.
I miss her too. She had an amazing life thanks to you & Tom. Hugs…
Thank you, Auntie Sheryl. ♥
It was a sad, sad day indeed but the love and precious memories last forever. Hugs from all of us.
Thank you all! ♥
She was such a happy, golden girl who had so much fun with her family of furry siblings and humans. That first year is the worst, but the thoughts will never stop.
I know you know exactly how that is. ♥
That’s a beautiful collection of photos. I’m sure you still miss her so much.
Every day.
it was great to walk the memory lane with you… and even when I had to wipe some tears away I enjoyed it… the photo f the three walking along together is my favorite… like 3 teens on the way to a shopping center or a meeting point… it has something of forever young ;O)))
Oh you are so right about that photo….I think you hit on exactly why I love it so much. Thank you!
