We didn’t get any direction on how to approach this week’s technical challenge of “Black & White”. I checked to see if my camera had a setting for shooting in black and white, but it did not. Editing a photo to black and white is the obvious way to go then, and I thought Luke would be the perfect subject, since he is a picture of black and white contrast all by himself!
I wanted his blacks to stand out, so finding a photo of him against the snow seemed ideal. I looked through some recent ones taken before we lost all of our snow. This one was taken with my iPhone after we got back from snowshoeing one day. Both Luke and Cricket had plenty of energy to spare that day!
It seems to me that in an ideal black and white photograph, the blacks would be deep black and the whites pure white. I hope we accomplished that here, or came close. I think the shadows add some interest to this as well.
I enjoy the old fashioned look of a black and white photo. Can your camera shoot in black and white, or have you edited photos to achieve this affect?
Have a great weekend, everyone!
