Cricket and Luke got over the need to hibernate, and by the end of the week were ready to get out and play in the snow. It was tough going out there though, especially for Cricket! Our little beagle is determined and she was going to play ball no matter what. As you can see in the photo below, they made many more trails in the snow and the yard is getting packed down pretty well.
Luke hadn’t been playing ball much lately, and I think there’s something about the snow that makes him want to play more. However, his version of playing means mostly keeping it away from his sister. I thought it would be fun to share a little video showing them plowing through the snow. We also had a reader express recently, when I shared a photo of Cricket barking, that she would love to hear that beagle bark, so we obliged and got a little of that in the video, though I couldn’t get the one where she did the beagle “a-rooo!”. I had too many technical difficulties with the videos, but I’m going to try later to also get the one where Cricket is really plowing her head through the snow.
Both videos are fairly short, and consist of a few clips – I tried to edit out the more boring parts, and the parts where they are snarking at each other over the ball. 🙂 I wanted to capture how tough it was for Cricket to walk through the snow, and also catch a couple of Luke’s deer-like leaps to catch the ball! We hope these bring a smile to your Monday.
Awww, little Cricket is too darn cute. Her tails never stops wagging in the snow! That’s quite the snow dump, I’d have had trouble plowing through it too. ???? They say we’re supposed to get ‘some’ of the white stuff here but I’ll believe it when it happens!
You are really welcome to have some of ours. We just got another 5 inches on Friday!
We’ll happily accept any extras or leftovers. ⛄️
Cricket can really get going when she wants the ball. I noticed she sticks to the trails where she can. She is a smart pup.
That is a lot of snow, I wonder if Crickets feet even hit the bottom.
Ha ha, they probably don’t!!
I have too many comments on these great videos, so I’ll hold back! Such fun though, laughed watching them! Maybe thank goodness it has warmed up the last few days, so I think that snow should be soft-it was here.
It has been soft, though some days we have to wait until it warms up a bit; or it’s crusty on top. It’s pretty well melted where it’s packed down though, and we’re starting to see bare spots in the yard.
You lucky dogs!!!! I love beagle barks, and romping in the snow by dogs!!!!
They do know they’re lucky, and we’ve been taking full advantage of the snow while it lasts. It’s melting quickly already, so that might have been their last play for this season!
Cricket amazes me … just like Sheba! Wow. Those girls don’t let anything get in their way, do they?
We bring our girls up to be tough around here! LOL – actually, I don’t know where they get it, because their Mom sure isn’t tough! Well, I may be determined though, so maybe I taught them that sheer determination. 🙂
Cricket is really having to work to get through that deep snow. And Luck is a great leaper. The two black spots on his tail really stand out as he wags his tail against the white snow background.
I hadn’t noticed that about Luke’s tail, but you’re right!
Oh my gosh! Cricket trudging through that snow to get the ball from Luke . . . priceless! She really is one determined little girl. And by the way, that doesn’t quite look like the first day of spring. Someone needs to have a talk with Mother Nature. 😉
Tell me about it! March has been a roller coaster of crazy weather. The first day of spring was warmer though, so a lot of this snow melted; but now it’s going to get cold again! We just don’t know one day to the next. All I know is I’d like to be down where you are right now! 🙂
Wow, you still have so much snow. Ours is gone now…and we hope it’s for good!
This is melting fast now on our sunny days. It might be the last of it, but we never know, right?
I love your videos. It is so funny to watch Cricket try to maneuver around in all of that snow! Luke has the long legs to make it look easy. LOL!
Thanks! Yeah, Luke is just like la-de-da, strolling through the snow, while poor Cricket is using up all of her energy struggling through it! At least he helps her out by making her trails. 🙂
I’m glad they found the joy in the snow again. Usually, one of the only things that makes snow this time of year bearable for me is to see Barley romping in it, so it’s so much harder not to give into the hibernation urge without that 🙂 Looks like Luke an Cricket both had a great time!
It definitely helps to have snow this time of year. That bitter cold alone is no fun at all!
They had a lot of fun, but the snow is melting quickly now. Today might have been the last day for really playing in it. It’s going to get cold again which means we’ll end up with ice where the snow is trampled down. No one is going to be happy about that!
It really is nice to see so much fun going on in that cold stuff!
Might as well make the best of it! 🙂
Fab videos! I love how Cricket plows through the snow. I bet the cold gives her joints some relief. Tu-Lei goat leaps like Luke. I think they are related.
Thank you! Cricket’s knees have been doing very well lately, so I think you are right about that. We’re hoping it will continue though, we’ll see.
Wow!! Your snow is super deep! I don’t think we had a snow like that more than once, and that was back in 2016!!!
Wow that snow is deep! I rarely get to see snow in California but when I do I run and rub my face in it
Lily (& Edward)
Oh, Wow!! Shadow and Ducky would have a blast in all that snow!! I love the way Cricket just plows on through it all – very determined little girl!! ???????? They play together well – about like my girls – but seem just as happy to be on their own.
It’s true – they are happy playing together, but like to do their own thing too.
Cricket does not let much slow her down! It’s been warmer and sunny lately, so it’s melted a lot, we can see bare patches of ground now. And go figure, it’s going to get cold again, so that means we’ll be icy again, at least for a couple days. They won’t be happy about that!
wow that snow looks like pawmade ice cream now… literally :o)
Look at all that beautiful snow! How we would all love to hop around and blaze fresh trails through that!
They had fun while it lasted, but it’s mostly all melted now. 🙁
