Don’t bookmark this page to read later – it’s time sensitive and you don’t want to miss out! You will want to bookmark it for Black Friday though!
It was over a year ago that we first reviewed the fresh dog food delivery from The Farmer’s Dog. This is the food that is still in Luke’s dish for every meal he eats. In the past, we have tended to switch foods from time to time, so that’s a testament to how much we love it.
*Disclosure: We were not compensated for this post, however, we will receive a commission if you order through the links here. Wag ‘n Woof Pets only shares about products we believe in, and all opinions are our own.*
Fresh dog food delivered seems to be the wave of the future, there are new companies popping up everywhere. It doesn’t hurt to try new things and at some point, we might try a different brand if we’re offered a review opportunity; but for now we are sticking with what we know is tried and true for us, and this food will always be on our short list.
The only change we made since that original post is that I alternate between beef and chicken meals for Luke, though they also offer pork. Also, because of financial constraints, and the desire to use our own organic vegetables grown here on the farm, I make half of Luke’s food myself.
The Farmer’s Dog contacted me at one point after we became customers to see how we were doing. I was honest with them and told them we might have to drop our subscription to save money. They suggested we try cutting the meals in half and using something else more affordable for the other half. Since I had been considering making my own food, that was all the motivation I needed. That’s what we’ve been doing ever since. By the way, even though this food is pricey for us (because of unforeseen job changes), it is still less expensive than some of the other fresh food brands out there.
Luke couldn’t be more excited about mealtimes, and it’s not just because of the homemade part either. Once in a while my schedule will get messed up and I’ll fall behind on making food or forget to get some out of the freezer to thaw. If we must use only The Farmer’s Dog for a meal, he is just as excited.

I’m excited too. I still feel like “What could be better than fresh dog food delivered right to your door?” Just open the package and dump it in the bowl. It’s as simple as kibble but SO much healthier! We use ¼ package for each meal (Luke eats twice per day). I’ll tell you more about the food I make myself one of these days, and you can read our full review of The Farmer’s Dog from last fall by clicking here.
Plus, for those that might be worried about grain free diets and health effects, when all that news broke The Farmer’s Dog let us know we did not need to worry. Real meat is the first ingredient in their recipes, and you will also find taurine on the ingredients list. It’s yet another reason to get away from processed dog food.
We don’t want you to miss out on this limited time offer for a free trial of The Farmer’s Dog for your dog(s)! This Black Friday (11/29) and Cyber Monday (12/2) ONLY you can click our link to receive your free trial! Our normal deal is 50% off a trial but 100% off is definitely better! In addition, The Farmer’s Dog has opened up a holiday gift shop, where you can find a “Dog Person” sweatshirt and some other goodies that would make wonderful Christmas gifts for the dog lovers in your life (or yourself!). Click the photo below to see more.

Yummy for your tummy!!
Oh YUM!
Wish there was more $$ in our food budget…the other day I spent almost a whole paycheck on kitty and doggy food/care items…we use a freeze dried food right now, and it seems to suit the two pups quite well…
Freeze dried is a great option too. We have done that as well.
Where do you buy freeze dried dog food?
Chewy.com is a great place to start. They carry most of the popular and quality brands, and you can shop by type of food you’d like. The Honest Kitchen is a quality brand worth looking at.
Thank you!!!!! We also do some cooking for our pups but sometimes need an easier alternative.
You are a lucky boy, Luke!
Don’t I know it!
Love, Luke
I will have to tell my niece about this.
Sounds like a good food, we feed kibble so this wouldn’t work for us.
Oh my gosh, that face says it all! Thanks for sharing the special.
♥♥♥
Luke is smart pup and we all need to listen to him because he’s in the know.
Have a woof woof day and a very happy Thanksgiving. My best to your peeps. ♥
He sure is! He’s the inspiration for it all too. ♥
Hit link but all that came up was 50% off button/link. No place to put where to send my free box. What do I do? I want my free box but don’t want to pay anything afterward or when it comes. Help!! Looks good for dogs and would make good gifts too.
Crystal, the free trial box will only be available on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. So please come back and try on one of those days; you will have to fill out some info about your dog so they can send you the appropriate recipes and portions. If it still doesn’t work, please let me know. We’ll make sure you get it!
We tried The Farmer’s Dog last year, too – in fact we used the 50% off link from you – and both Ducky and Shadow loved it. But with two dogs it was just way too expensive, even with adding the homemade to it. I’m using the same food now for Ducky as Madison and her sisters. For Radar, I’m using Halo Holistic for now. Lord only knows how many different foods the poor dog had eaten in his previous life. I figure for now, the Halo is the best of the processed stuff. Once he’s finished with his heartworm treatments and tests negative, I’ll start switching him to the food Ducky’s eating.
Halo has always struck me as a very good brand, and I’m sure it’s best to keep things simple for Radar right now. I’m just glad you inspired me to do the homemade! Everyone has to do what works with their lifestyle for their dogs too.
oh we trust you Luke… you are an eggs-pert and only the best for the best pups right?
Absolutely right!!
You sure do have some mighty good yum and your place Luke!
I’m a lucky dog for sure!!
We enjoyed the Farmers Dog food, but it is expensive. We opted for another brand that is super healthy, but we add the protein and oil. It is working great for us. The main thing is we are away from the processed kibble foods.
Absolutely! I think I know what you feed and it’s one I’ve always thought was very good. It is nice that there are more healthy options out there these days.
You’re a very lucky and much loved boy, Luke! Your meals sound amazing.
My Momz is the best, Molly! ♥
