I knew going in that trying to get Luke to carry a flag for our Independence Day post was not going to go well. I had tried it last year with limited success. The biggest problem with this is that these little flags are on a stick. What do dogs want to do with sticks? Yup, chew on them. I figured I could at least get him romping around with it before he tried to just chew on it, but most of those photos turned out blurry.
As it was, you can see from our 4th of July post that we did get a few keepers! However, they were far outnumbered by the bloopers and here are some of my favorites:
I tried to let Sheba get in on the action, but Luke was not going to allow that to happen. He has to be the star of the show.
In this next one you get Luke’s butt leaving the scene of the crime, and Sheba looking like she is pouting because he stole her flag!

This last one is like a blooper trifecta. Luke is chewing on the stick (only the stick, never the flag, he is a proud American dog, you know!); my hand is in there trying to take it away; and Cricket gets a photobomb in!
How did your holiday photos come out?
Thank you to The Lazy Pitbull for hosting this fun hop! Pet bloggers, find your worst photos and join in the fun every month.

I am amazed that the flag stayed in one piece!
Looks like you had a fun one!
The second I let go of it, Luke goes running off to take it somewhere to chew on it! I definitely need to do some work with him on a “hold” command.
Hahaha! We didn’t take any with the boys this year. My brother has been visiting from NYC so we took grandbaby pictures. ♥
Are babies more cooperative than dogs? 🙂
Of course Sheba was pouting! Didn’t you when a sibling wouldn’t let you play with a toy? BOL. Brothers!
Seriously, though, I love your bloopers as much as the ones in the holiday post!
Thanks, Sue! Sheba is so sweet to Luke sometimes, but other times she will put him right in his place! 🙂
They are so cute, and I can’t even imagine how hard it would be to get a photo of my single dog holding something nicely, let alone having the distractions of others around 🙂
Fun outtakes! I gave D’Art a flag to ‘hold’ for a photo once too and it now has a chewed end!
I now have a few flags like that….LOL.
HAH! Great bloopers! You musta had fun that day. We didn’t do a holiday shoot this year so it came great!
Every year it’s the same thing. You’d think I’d learn, right? 🙂
MOL! That’s how we “cooperate” during a photo shoot. 😉
They are so cute! The bloopers are so funny!
This year I didn’t really attempt to take any 4th of July photos. The dogs were just too stressed out from all the bangs. They did well on their meds but I really didn’t want to push it and ask for too much. So we just tried to keep things chill and relaxed, no added pressure of posing for photos.
Great collection of bloopers.
When I saw your original photo I went “wow, Luke doesn’t break the stick” and ah ha he does!!! Anytime I give gambler a stick flag to hold he breaks it, drives me nuts. Fun bloopers!
Hee hee….I cropped out most of my hand holding the stick in that one photo, because me holding onto it was the only way he wasn’t going to chomp down on it!
Bloopers are my favourite!
BOL Luke you must share your stardom
Lily & Edward
I love it… this photos make the bestest memories and I love Shebas “I’m not amused” face :o)
Haha those are great! I had too many bloopers from out pool party to decide so went another route. Love Dolly
Love the “blooper trifecta”! It really does have everything you want in a blooper.
Surprisingly, Daisy won’t take a stick. Any kind of stick. Just toys and Nylabones. She’s a very picky little girl!
Cricket wouldn’t take a stick either. It’s pretty much balls only with her!
Bailie thinks it is so much fun to trot around the yard proudly carrying the flag. So far, she hasn’t crunched the stick, but we don’t leave her alone with it, or let her sit down with it.
