I’m excited to let you know that I have an opening date for my new store – May 22nd! Our governor is allowing retail stores to open starting May 11th, but since there were some things I simply hadn’t been able to do yet, I couldn’t be ready by then. Things will be different because of the pandemic, but I feel comfortable opening up now, even though I’m sure we’ll start out slowly. Our area has not been too hard hit by this, but that’s partially because of our smaller populations, I think, and because people have been staying home more (I think…..I know I haven’t been much of anywhere other than home and my shop).
I still have a lot to do before May 22nd! Therefore, things will probably be pretty quiet here on the blog for the next 2-3 weeks, because I really need to focus on getting the store ready to go. Once we get settled into our new routines, we’ll be back!

I may do a short post here or there if time allows, so you can see Luke’s sweet face, or if I have some farm news I can’t wait to share (hint: we think one of our hens is ready to try hatching some eggs! Paws crossed, they’ve fooled us before!). By the way, our hen Martha who was attacked by the fox is still hanging in there. She seems to be making some progress even though it is very slow, and we’re still worried, though hopeful, about her.
The chicken coop finally got its spring clean-out, though we’re still waiting for that true spring weather (maybe this week?). You may have seen on Facebook that we had snow again last Saturday! Enough already, really. If I didn’t have my store to focus on, I’d really be having a hard time keeping my chin up between the pandemic and the weather. I know I’m not alone in that.
We hope everyone else is hanging in there too, and that things can get slowly get back to normal soon. We’ll be checking in on everyone, even though we may be a bit quiet when we visit. 😊
We are pleased to be joining our friends at Comedy Plus for the Happy Tuesday blog hop! Please visit them and other blogs through the links below.
I know you are going to be a huge success! There is nothing better than living the life you dreamed of! Congratulations!
It’s just so nice to enjoy going to work every day! 🙂
Good luck! Sending healing thoughts to Martha.
With my unreliable blogging schedule, I miss so much! We hope Martha hangs in there. And that the opening of your store starts off strong as word gets around about the awesome items you’re selling!
How exciting! Good luck with your grand opening; that sounds like a LOT of work! Maybe you could sneak us a picture or two without much comment. It will be historic for you, so of course you’ll take lots of pictures, right? Keep those chickens happy – hatching chicks from your hens sounds like a (maybe?) easier proposition than working with the incubators. I’m glad to hear that Martha is recuperating, if slowly.
Yeah, we’ll see on the hatching of chicks, our Mama seems determined but I worry about her not eating and drinking enough.
How exciting!! Wishing you all the best of luck on your opening 🙂 So glad Martha is doing a bit better and yay for baby chicks!!!!

Good luck! I am so excited for you. I love Luke’s eyes so an occasional photo would be great!
Sending healing thoughts to Martha.
Thank you! I’m missing Luke myself these days, it’s an adjustment not being home with him all the time, but things are finally settling in so we’ll have another post and some photos soon!
Congratulations! So excited for you and wish you all the best. Healing digital clucks being sent to Martha.
Thank you! Martha is still doing well!

You’ll be missed by me, but you need to do what you need to do. I can always come over just to look at past posts of Luke for my Luke fix.
