If you have been reading lately and know our dogs, you would probably think they were excited about the foot and a half of snow we received this week. I’ve mostly been in hibernation mode myself on these March days that feel more like January. However, I still expected the dogs to be up and raring to go outside to play in the fresh snow on Wednesday morning.
Not so much. I think winter is even getting to them now. I looked out the door that morning and saw very few trails in the snow. It didn’t really look like anyone had been out there gleefully running around yet. Luke even seemed reluctant to head out there to do his business.
He did ultimately blaze a new trail, in order to go to the bathroom. Cricket was cozily ensconced on her dog bed, and she never bugged me to go out at all.
Much to everyone’s surprise, it is not SNOW that we are thankful for on this Thursday, it is TOYS.
Cricket started out strong that morning, waking me up from my sleep-in, to go running down the hall to get a toy. She’s been so funny lately, showing up with toys that she does not usually play with. Luke was still sound asleep next to me, and I just watched Cricket playing for a bit. She is so cute when she’s playing, she makes these little squeaky noises that almost sounds like she’s humming to herself as she plays.
She had been playing with toys the previous day when we were in the middle of the big blowing snowstorm too. Toys seem to be the big hit suddenly, and that works for me. We still try to get outside some, but staying inside playing and training keeps us much warmer.
We did ultimately go out to play in the snow, but it was tough going out there, especially for Cricket. I tried to take some video, and hopefully we’ll be sharing some of that with you next week. We didn’t lose power from the snowstorm, but our internet became very temperamental, so I haven’t been able to upload the videos yet, and now I’m behind on everything again!
We all seem to be ready for spring, and we’d like to put our hibernation to an end, but in the meantime some of our long-neglected toys are getting some much deserved attention! Well, other than my slippers which Luke seems to prefer over toys lately, I’m not really thankful that he’s obsessed with those!
