With three different types of dogs in our household, plus a long haired cat, grooming is a constant challenge. Only our golden retriever Sheba goes to the groomer every few months or so, but in between that I do it all myself. It’s important for me to have the right tools to make that job easier.

Of course, Sheba with her long fur requires the most grooming. She gets mats if I don’t keep up with it. A groomer once recommended a slicker brush for her, and that has long been my favorite type to use on her. It gets out the undercoat, and smooths at the same time. GoPets Best Slicker Brush

Plus, they can be used on cats as well! Samantha is not very cooperative with any type of grooming, but I try to keep her brushed. Those look like great grooming tools. Question…brown dawgs do not get brushed too often but during the fall hunting season they sometimes get into small sticker bushes and the stickers stick to their fur. Which brush do you think would work well to remove something like that?
I actually think the dematting comb might work well for that. It has curved ends that could probably get underneath those stickers, and the ends are rounded, not sharp. Plus it has two sides with different numbers of teeth on each.
Slicker brushes work best for my long haired high-shedding dogs.
I have a furminator but I don’t have a slicker brush. My dog is a golden retriever/Alaskan Malamute mix. I think this brush would be great for regular brushing.
I think the slicker brush leaves such a nice smooth coat. What a great mix your dog sounds like! Which breed does he/she look more like?
He has the coat of a Golden including the color, but his ears, tail and feet are all Malamute. He also has the mask like a malamute.

Dematting Comb for fluffy butt BOL
I think the Best Deshedding Tool would be great for my dog.
The slicker brush works best for my dog too! She has an undercoat and a layer of coarse, longer hair, on top of that. I have three slicker brushes in different sizes and brands and they work wonders on her!
I hope you have one that is self cleaning! That is a feature I can’t live without now. I have a small one that I use on my cat, and those tines can be sharp if you hit them wrong!
Yes! They are self-cleaning (button press and fur is removed), and 1 of them even covers the bristles after it is done, protecting them from getting damaged. That one is my favorite.
I think the deshedding tool would work best for my dogs! They have a lot of fur 🙂
I have a FURminator but not a real brush cos TW won’t share her’s with me. Dunno why. Our fur is the same color. MOL!

My guess is that the Best Pin & Bristle Brush would work the best on our two kittens.
That one is great since you can get out the loose stuff with one side, and then nicely smooth out their coat with the other.

The de-shedding brush tool would be best because my dog has a weird broken coat.
I was really amazed and pleased with how well that one worked! It really gets out the dead stuff which is what many dogs need.
I’m thinking the pin and bristle brush. He definitely doesn’t need dematting!
I think the pin and bristle brush is a great all around brush for all pets. With the two different sides you can cover a lot of different types of coats.

These look like an awesome collection of products! I wish Callie would let me brush her but she usually won’t. I can sneak in a few strokes here and there. I do want to try and trim her nails one of these days. I tried once and got one nail done, but our nail clippers sucked and that made it kind of tricky.
You definitely need something that works well so that you can get them done as quickly as possible! Sam’s long fur on her paws makes hers really challenging too.
We love the pretty orange color of the products they have.

I learned the peanut butter thing from another blogger…and it’s the only way Luke will let me do any of his nails at all!
Sampson loves to be brushed. I had a brush that similar to the one you have with the pins on one side and it broke. I have to get me a new one, cause’ the brush I bought doesn’t have both.

We had one like that years ago too, but it had also broken. I didn’t realize I had missed it so much until we got this one to try! I have a feeling these will hold up better than others, they seem very good quality.
Those are great! We have several brushes since Pierre and Bentley have two completely different coats. I am so envious of your ability to trim your dogs nails. ☺
Thank you….I don’t do the job that our vet’s office does on their nails, but I think it’s better than nothing anyway! It does save us some money (though our vet’s office sometimes does it for free when we’re there for other things), and at least saves the dogs the stress of having to go there (and Luke would never let them near his nails unless he was sedated).
