Since I was talking about shopping yesterday, I thought today I would share some fun products we’ve won, bought, and were given a chance to try today. After all, Christmas isn’t the only time of year when we shop and get fun and useful stuff, right?
I found this Outward Hound Quick Release Backpack on sale online (I honestly forget where now) for Luke. I’ve read that wearing a backpack can help reactive dogs relax some, because it makes them feel like they have a job. Plus a little added weight could up the intensity of a walk, making it a better workout for him. This backpack has easily detachable saddlebags, and the pack/harness itself has mesh pockets for smaller items. It is lightweight and has a handle for easily getting a hold of your dog if you need to. Right now I’m just getting Luke used to wearing the base and then we’ll start adding items for him to carry and also add the saddlebags.
It’s been probably a few months now since we won a gift certificate from our friend Oz the Terrier to HotDog Collars (big thanks to both of them). They have so many great products there, it took me a while to pick out what we wanted! In the above photo you might notice that Luke is wearing a personalized leather collar in his best colors of blue embroidered with red. I loved all of their personalized items so I also picked out a Soft Mesh Dog Harness for Cricket with her name and our phone number embroidered on it. I’m always on the lookout for a good harness that I don’t feel like she can wriggle out of, and this one is also lightweight and cute. I like the aqua on her with purple embroidery, shown in the inset (I blocked out my phone number).
I didn’t want Sheba to be left out so I got some inexpensive toys for her to destroy, per her bucket list. We got a 3 pack of rope ring elastic animal toys for only $7.50 (that’s half price and they’re still on sale now), also from Hot Dog Collars. They did not disappoint….in the below photos you’ll see that Sheba only has 2 toys left now, the carcass of the third is around here somewhere (and they still play with that). They are fun for tug too!

The Momz hasn’t been left out of the winnings…I won this t-shirt from our friend Dolly the Doxie! This shirt is lightweight and comfortable, perfect for walking on a warm summer morning. Thanks to Dolly and her Mom!

Last but not least, our friends at PL360 sent us some grooming wipes to try out. You may recall we reviewed some of their shampoos and cleaning products during Multiple Pet Mania Month. We love these wipes too. They are mandarin scented and smell great! They are heavy duty enough to wipe down muddy paws and great for just general freshening up between baths. I love that they are made in the USA and free of parabens, sulfates, phthalates, toxins, lanolin, soap, and alcohol! They can be used on dogs, cats, and other small animals. They are great to have on hand around the house or in the car as well.
Have you run across any good shopping finds this summer, or do you prefer to limit most of your shopping to Christmas time?
All great stuff. Love the personalized collar and the shirt is very nice too.
Great stash for everybody! Tell me, how doodle*licious smelling are those mandarin wipes? Mandarin is one of my favorite scents –
They really smell awesome! I love all citrus scents and mandarin is also one of my favorites.
Tshirt looks nice thanks for the shout out! Love Dolly
You’re welcome! Someone left a comment here that they want one of the t-shirts, and wanted ordering information! Do you have any left that you want to sell?
a whole lot of greatness there.
You’ve got lots of good stuff there!
I wear a backpack sometimes – to help carry water and treats. I’m very proud of myself when the bipeds put their keys in one of the little pockets – they’re easier to get at than in their own backpacks.
Yes, I can see where things will be much more easily accessible on Luke than on me! I’m always fumbling around trying to get things out of my pockets or my backpack.
Oh boy! Lot s of really great stuff…………it’s great that there’s some really good products to choose from for our pets – no matter WHAT kind of pet it is, there’s good food, well made toys, and medicines if we just take time to look.

Before Callie’s first ACL surgery, I used to put backpacks on both her and Shadow for every walk at the park. It DID help them to relax, and to be more focused on me. Callie carried the light-weight stuff in her pack; Shadow carried the 2 bottles of water; and I carried my wallet and keys in a fanny pack. After the surgeries though, I stopped putting Callie’s on her and just shared the load with Shadow.
With everyone’s joint issues, I have to be careful not to add too much weight. But I want to add enough so that Luke feels like he’s doing something special. 🙂
If your keys aren’t too heavy, you could put them in the one saddle bag, and a small note pad in the other to balance the weight. Or even 2 small note pads – one in each saddle bag.
That’s a good idea, Sue. Here I was thinking of things we actually needed to have with us, and how to balance them, whereas anything would work to add some weight! Thanks!
Any time, my friend! Happy to be of service! 🙂
Let me know if you find the backpack helpful. People have suggested it for Hailey, but we have never tried one.
Looks like you had some excellent shopping!
I will definitely post an update once I figure out if it is really helping him or not.
Wow! You are on a winning streak! I love the collar and halter that you selected. Congratulations!
Lots of great stuff. We have been trying out the PL360 grooming wipes too. Normally we just buy stuff as we need it or if we see something fun we could use.
That back pack looks very cool and comfy! We must tell Mom 😉 Ya’ll got lots of great stuff!!

I’ve got to have a dachshund t shirt like that. Can you give me the info to order one? Love that golden, she looks older, how old?
I’m not sure if you can order one, Robin, but I will find out for you.
Our golden Sheba is 10 years old, she’ll be 11 in October! She still acts like a puppy though. 🙂
Oh boy like that tug toy

4 paws from france to your momz… she is a super shopper and I bet she never comes home with such freaky gifts my momma bought for me. Luke you look like me when I try to get a toy… that’s pawsome to see through your photos how I look when I play tug of war with someone :o)
