This is what the first day of spring looked like around here!
Even though it was snowing, Luke and I still got out for our walk.

I wasn’t thrilled, but we had skipped an earlier day in the week when it was snowing and quite cold. Luke had a long walk the previous day with his Dad (on days I have to go out for work and Dad walks him, it always seems to be nice out!), but I don’t like having to skip more than one of ours a week if I can help it. Our walk was delayed a bit because of a work thing I had to do, so by the time we got out it was already above freezing. There was only about an inch of snow on the ground, but in some places it was quite muddy underneath and I almost slipped and fell more than once!

As we came back up towards the house, we saw blue sky, and the sun even almost came out!
I decided to extend our walk and we went past the house and down another trail. Luke got to do some of his “freestyle” walking, until snow started to melt off the trees and dumped down the back of my coat! We headed back to the regular trails then.

The rest of the day stayed cloudy, but the temperature hovered around 40 degrees so much of the snow melted. While the farm birds spent most of the morning hiding inside the coop, barn, and garage, by afternoon they were venturing out and about happily.
Did it snow on your first day of spring?

Really Jan?? Do we only live 20 minutes apart?? Cause your 1st day of spring looks different than mine on my FB post, don’t you think? Of course, there is the fact, you are an early bird and I am a night owl, ha-ha. But so I really couldn’t remember for sure after seeing this, but I was quite sure that we had no snow on this day, it was rain in the morning maybe. Because it was supposed to get quite mild, wasn’t that the forecast? But clouds and rain or showers which is all we got I think until later in the day, it cleared just a little for the sunset, but was not raining anymore. And when I did go for my walk late afternoon, early evening, it had definitely gotten mild, a little over 50 I think, but you say at your house it only hovered around 40 degrees? So strange the differences!! Glad you and Luke got out anyway!!
I’m also trying to remember, but I think Tom did say that there was not any snow “down below”, we only got it up here on the hill.
I’m glad you got out to enjoy it too!
At least I know you’ve gotten some of the snow we have since! 🙂
A 6-8″ dumping took place on spring here too. Yesterday and today have been glorious with nearly 60ºF degree temps. Spring storms are my favorite since they tend to come in quickly, dump a bunch of white stuff and leave almost as fast as they arrived. And they make sure the landscape is happy with a nice soaking.
The moisture is definitely good! We’re getting another spring snow today, not sure how much we’ll end up with. But warmer temperatures by the end of the week (not quite up to your 60, but since it’s only been in the 30’s the last few days, any improvement will be appreciated!).
We had a similar first day of spring, although it was a huge snow here (2′)! I’m glad that you and Luke got out that day despite the snow. Happy Springtime!
Oh my gosh, we’re such wimps compared to you guys, getting out there even in the 2′!
We had rain too but our temperatures are nice. We will hit the upper 80s next week. I hope we can go biking in shorts. Y’all stay safe. #SocialDistancing
Shorts seem like a distant dream right now to us! So glad you can still go biking!
We had a lot of rain and thunderstorms, and the temp got to about 63F, then it got windy and a lot colder so that by the next day the temp was in the 30’s and it was way below freezing that night, and again tonight, though its nice and dry.
Hello spring! The robins are singing, and the sandhill cranes are here again. They like to frequent the premises around petcretary’s nursing home…we are next to a ‘greeenbelt’ area, so there is plenty of wildness there, deer, coons, etc. Even skunks, oops!
Don’t want to meet those skunks when coming around the corner! Your weather sounds as crazy as ours! I saw a robin a few days ago, but he must have been an early bird (excuse the pun) since I haven’t seen another since.
Sounds like petcretary works in a nice area! Cranes are beautiful.
No snow here, and the sun even came out!
We finally got some sun, but it was so cold out we couldn’t even enjoy it!
Happy Spring! Stay healthy. XO
You too!! ♥
Um…that doesn’t look like spring! Let’s hope that snow all melts fast.
It did, but now we’re getting another round of it!!
Oh, that looks cold. We had a couple really pleasant days but now it’s a bit rainy and chilly again. But we can always use more rain so I’m not complaining. I hope you get warmer weather soon.
It seems winter has come back…it never gives up easily here! But hopefully by the end of the week it will go the other way again.
We had rain for five days, but yesterday the sun came out here and there. Today it’s a beautiful blue sky, but it’s cold.
I would love to take Luke for a walk. I love Luke.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. My best to Luke. ♥
He loves you too. ♥
Brrrr humbug! Come on Old Man Winter, give it up. It’s gonna be 80 degrees here today, we’ve got the AC running.
If they’d let us travel, we’d be down!! 🙂
Yes it did!!!! We want warmth and sun. Have a great weekend.
Me too. Now it’s cold and snowing again today. Ugh!
we had sun but we are grounded so we welcomed spring in our garden…
That sounds nice!! There’s worse places you could be grounded, right?
It rained all day yesterday, but today is just cold and windy. Snow missed us.
You’d be happy here today, it’s snowing, and we’re expecting a few inches!
We got boring old rain and I didn’t even get a walk. Lucky you, Luke!
Yeah, but I missed two days of walks this weekend!! Now it’s snowing. Mom is whining. BOL
Love, Luke
