On Fridays sometimes I like to share some photos that I liked that didn’t make it into a blog post. It can also serve as a look back at our week and updates to some of the things that have been going on (and there will be a look forward here too!).ย
This photo of Luke is my clear favorite for the week, taken when I was writing our post “Using ALL the Comfy Spaces“. I think Luke looks like he should be on the cover of a doggie Playgirl magazine or something! ๐

It’s nice to end the week on a more upbeat note, after the rough one we’ve had. The Dadz had the day off from work Thursday and started on our new pen for the hens. It’s not complete yet, it will still need a cover and a door, but it’s enough for now that we can let them out when we can keep an eye on things. Without the cover, it doesn’t contain the guinea hens (they immediately flew out), but we feel they are a bit safer from predators than the chickens. They can fly much better, and they have a tendency to stick together with one on watch most of the time. The chickens are happy to be outside, getting some fresh air and taking some dust baths. They’re not thrilled about being contained, but I think they still realize it’s better than being stuck inside the coop!
What is this cozy blanket Luke is snuggled under? Come back on Monday and find out more about the Canine Coddler and how it is helping Luke with some of his anxieties. We’ll be giving you the chance to win one for your dog as well!
Have a great weekend!
That was definitely a centerfold shot!! Sexy!
HA! Yes, Luke looks like he’s at Hugh Hefner’s place in the Hamptons….. Too cute.
Heehee!
Nice photos, especially Luke all wrapped up ๐
Doesn’t he look so cozy?
OMD Luke your gonna has all da ladies wif dat pose ๐ Your chicken enclosure looks pawesome and we can not wait to hear more about the Canine Coddler since I am a basket case most days because of all da storms us Floridians has.
xoxo,
Matt (& Matilda)
I can only imagine. We don’t get a lot of thunderstorms here but even Cricket was scared of those when we did, and she wasn’t scared of much!
I’m so glad that things are looking up a bit. Luke is such a handsome dude! And your chickens look happy! AND, the canine coddler. I’ll be back to check that out.
Woooo hooo that photo of Luke is PAWESOME!! Pawesome news about the pen too!
Aw, man… That photo of Luke in the blanket is the best! I’m curious about it now, hehe. (And I also have dogs with anxieties, so maybe this will be something I can get for them.) And the Mr. Aprilโyes, I’d put that up on my wall! So good about the chickens! They must love the extra bit of freedom.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Luke is definitely ready for his calendar page! I’m glad the chickens can go outside in protective custody. LOL! It is the best way to keep them safe until the fox moves on to another place.
It’s made a couple appearances since we’ve had the pen, but seems confused when it can’t get to the birds! So hopefully it learns to move to new hunting grounds very soon.
Your looking pretty sexy Luke. Nice outside pen for the girls. Have a great weekend.
Gotta love the ‘come hither’ look! Happy weekend.๐
Luke, you are such a handsome dude!
Oh Luke, I better not show this photo of you to Ducky – she’ll be packing her little bags and be on the first train north! ๐ถ๐๐๐ถ
I’m thinking the chickens are already happier just being outside in the fresh air. They’ll get used to being contained. And you’ll feel A WHOLE LOT better knowing they’re safe once the cover and door are on the pen.
Now that it’s finished, I am so much more relaxed. We’re going to build something more permanent though, this one doesn’t have a door so it’s really only temporary.
Have a great weekend. Love that sexy photo of Luke…watch out for Madison, our boy crazy sister!
Luke is a handsome one, and sure does look like that’s what he’s posing for, ha ha! Looks like a really nice space for the chickens, good job, Dadz!
Mr. April indeed! Luke is certainly a handsome boy. The chickens look happy too ๐
They’d still rather be free ranging, but they are definitely happier than they were stuck in the coop!
