Hey folks! Luke and I are here to tell you some really good news – we are getting bonus family time this month! Yup, both the Momz and Dadz are going to be home with us for the whole month of October, and we couldn’t be more excited! We’re used to having the Momz around some, since she only worked part time before, but having the Dadz here 24/7 is extra special. We only ever got to do that when they were on vacation. In further good news, the Dadz starts a new job on November 1st, so there will still be plenty of money for treats and stuff!
It’s been lots of fun already. Yesterday, the whole family went out (well, except for Sam and the crazy birds) for a long walk on our land and the Dadz helped us to make some new trails for walking in our woods!

After that, Luke got to start learning a new trick (stay tuned later this month to read all about it, and there will be a giveaway too!); and we both got to do some “modeling” – we don’t really love modeling but it means lots of extra treats, and it’s part of the job when you’re dogs with a blog! While I took a nap, Luke got to go for a ride with the Dadz.
We have a feeling we will be very busy dogs for the next month and I’m so glad I’m feeling well enough to enjoy it! It’s probably going to be tiring, so we’re really happy to have the Dadz here to nap with us in the afternoon. Momz never does that! She’s not a napper.

However, sometimes she’s in the kitchen making stuff (we got more homemade treats this last weekend!) while Dadz is napping. Luke doesn’t nap as well either because he has to supervise that. He always lets me know if there’s something good in the kitchen that I should go check out. Um, Luke, did you notice Dadz got the best spot on the couch? We’d better talk to him about that. He might need to share that spot, since it’s my favorite. There are lots of comfy options here though!
Momz says she’s going to have to find another job too though, but she’s going to enjoy some time with us first. We think that’s a great idea; and we’re hoping she’ll find a “work from home” job too, because we sure like having the family together as much as we can. We are going to make the most of this month! Luke, let’s think what else we might like to do! We get extra outdoors time, and more time to chase those crazy birds (only along the fence or if we’re on leashes though). We’re taking full advantage of that for sure!
Whoops, I guess I didn’t let Luke talk much! We’ll get you next time, Buddy. ๐
How about the rest of you? Do you get to have your paw-rents home with you, or do they have to go do that work thing all the time?
I think my guys really enjoyed those 18 months of reduced hours, although I have to say, going back full-time probably bummed them out. I hate leaving them too, but what’s a gal to do? Enjoy the time you have together, it’s so precious.
It is very precious. I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen, but I hope I can cobble enough stuff together that I can at least work from home some of the time anyway. But we’ll deal with whatever we have to in order to make things work.
Oh dat sounds fabulous! Our Mama is not a big napper either and we just don’t understand that craziness…naps are da bestest ๐ We hope ya’ll have the most pawesome October efur!!
xoxo,
Matt & Matilda
Well, it took a little turn for the worse on our second week in, when we had a loss in my human family. But that is part of life, unfortunately, and hopefully we can make up for it on the other end of the month.
October will be a fabulous month for you guys. Congrat’s to the Doggie Dad on his new job.
Thank you!!
What a great October you guys are going to have. Congrats on dads getting a job too! I work part time so I am home with the gang. John is home on rain days.
I sure hope that when I go back to work it will only have to be part time again. I can’t stand the thought of being away from these guys full time!
Hurray! Sounds like you are going to have a great October with mom and dad home. I am glad your dad found a new job he likes and hope your mom will find one, too.
I just started a work at home job and Ruby loves it – she’s hardly alone now at all, though would you believe she gives me a sad look when I run out for 15 minutes!
I swear, it doesn’t matter if I’m gone 6 hours or 10 minutes, they are just as happy to see me come home every time! I love it. โฅ
Oh, that’s so nice that you can both be home for a while. love the napping pic!
Rita is lucky to have Momma home all the time, but we only have Daddy around when it’s vacation time – which is never long enough!
I’m used to having some time home alone with the crew (since I only worked part-time before), and I wondered if having the hubby home would be hard, or disrupt my routine. But it’s been great, and he’s been helpful too. He does his own thing a lot too, so while we have lots of together time, we still have apart-time too. I’m afraid we could all get too used to this!
Sounds like a great start to October togetherness, yay! Enjoy to the fullest!!
We sure will, thanks, Auntie Lynn! And be sure to come visit soon!
It sounds like you’re all making the most of this month! The girls and I are already looking forward to December when we’ll have a full month home together. It was harder than usual to end our summer vacation this year! (And I might be sending Rye your way–she doesn’t like to nap, either, and Soth, Barley, and I love our afternoon naps together.
I can’t imagine how hard it will be if I can’t find a work from home job and have to go back to leaving these guys (I’m even getting used to being with the birds all the time now!).
I bet I could even wear Rye out sometimes. Luke would follow me around, and even though it didn’t seem like it wore him out, he seems pretty happy to be napping with Dad instead!
My mom works from home all the time, so I’m a happy pup! She takes time out to cuddle me during the day too. ๐ Mom would need a path through the woods too because she has zero sense of direction and her “internal compass” always tells her to go the wrong way. If she took me for a walk in unmarked woods with no trails, we’d probably never find our way home! So happy the Dadz has a new job waiting! Have fun with a whole month of family time! ๐
I have a pretty good sense of direction, but when you’re out in the woods where everything looks the same, it’s easy to get turned around! One of our property lines is especially confusing….you would swear you should go totally opposite of what you actually should, so I won’t even go that far (that’s the first place we started marking trails).
Oh, your Mom and you are so lucky to have her working from home! I was only working part-time before, which was good, but we would all love it if I could be home all the time.
Fingers crossed you find a work from home job!
There seems to be a lot out there, but I think the trick will be weeding out which ones are actually legitimate! LOL
My useless Mom is home with me every single day because she says when you are fat, over 60, with kidney issues and 26 years of advertising experience, NOBODY wants you BOL……….Dad substitute teaches (he is retired but because of my useless Mom, he has to work)
Oh, we bet you love having your Mom home, and that she’s very useful around the house. BOL. And Dad probably enjoys getting out from time to time. ๐
Bentley and Pierre love having us home all day. They are spoiled rotten now though!
I can see that happening! I just hope these guys don’t get too used to us home all the time, I don’t want it to be tough on them when we do go back to work.
Enjoy your mom and dad time. October is a great month to be all together because the weather is usually good and there’s lots of fun things to do in fall.
It is the perfect time of year to be able to get outdoors more, without being too hot or too cod!
Woo-hoo. Spending family time is wonderful and so very happy to hear of your dad’s new job. Congrats and enjoy time in those woods.
It is such a relief to at least have one of us going back to work soon, even though we’d all like to be home all the time! It should only be a few years before Dad can retire too. ๐
Y’all should really have some tail waggin’ fun!
So nice. Together time is the very best.
I wish we could find a way to do it more like you do! ๐
I am happy that you’ll have this month together. I’m also happy that your dad will be starting a new job after your fun month! We get a lot of together time here. We try to make the most of it but some days are still just boring days at home when the pups snooze!
Yes, unfortunately, Luke thinks when we’re home we should be entertaining him pretty much 24/7! I have to explain we still have things we need to do. ๐ Cricket, since she’s older, enjoys napping a lot more. But Luke likes to settle down more if someone is willing to sit with him!
Shadow and Ducky have us around most of the time since we’re both retired. And they love it, except when one of us gets impatient about something.
Well, stuff like that is bound to happen when you’re together most of the time! Luckily our dogs easily forgive us. โฅ
Sounds like October is going to be the bestest month EVER!! Enjoy your peep time!!

Jakey, Arty & Rosy
It sure is, and we are sure going to!! xxoo
that is super great!!! I specially love the nap time together… that#s the best we do something together while we do nothing together… ummm what? confusing… butt true ;O)
Very true! Luke especially just loves to have someone sit with him….I’m not very good at sitting still, but I’m trying to do better. And Dadz can fill in for me the rest of the time!
Hope you all enjoy your time together! Sounds like it’s going to be busy, but fun ๐
There’s so much to catch up on, and so much to do. I don’t know how I ever found time to work. LOL
